So upset don't go here if you value your pets. First, got my kitten fixed and declared. They offered no follow up care or instructions. His foot got badly infected had to pay just as much as it cost me to get him fixed and declared at the emergency vet. And the same time we had this going on I started taking care of an elderly lady on a fixed income, her dog had a growth on her hip they immediately wanted to do surgery on a 12 year old dog with a heart murmur. I had to push for them to do blood work and an xray to check her health and whether she'd make it through the surgery. Dispite the fact that her heart was 2xs the normal size on the right side and me asking several times about the prognosis and not getting an answer other than we could schedule surgery. I was hesitant and wanted to get a 2nd opinion. Waited a month or so and the owner finally called and insisted on getting it straight forward answer on prognosis. They said well she probably wouldn't make it we could of told you that when you were in. I wouldn't take my pet ant to them they only cared about money. Read Less

I originally took my bunnies there to get fixed. No complaints about that. But when I went in for their yearly- it was terrible. I sat there well past the appointment time, meanwhile they kept calling in other people. I don't know if they schedule multiple appointments at once or were just accepting walk-ins. While there was a line, the receptionist was standing around talking before taking care of the line. Then people came in with two very un-trained dogs and un-trained children as well. I thought my bunnies were going to have a heart attack and one was panting because it was so hot in there. I ended up leaving before even seeing the vet because I was worried they would have a heat stroke or heart attack from waiting in such a chaotic area for so long. One did manage to pee all over maybe because it took forever or because it was too stressful. Also- there should be a rule that if you bring your kids, they go in the room with you. They should not be left out to try and bully people into seeing their terrified bunnies and screaming that they want to pet them and a cat. Read Less

My Emotional Support Animals love going to Strohbehn Veterinary Clinic. My 12 year old Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog was in earlier this week for her 3 year rabies vaccination. The vet couldn't believe how healthy and friendly my Great Pyr is, she was so gentle while giving the shot the dog barely noticed. The cats never get nervous or upset going there either. My favorite small town vet! Each time I've stopped in during the past 5 years, they are extremely busy and do their best to answer everyone's questions and phone calls. They are one of the most affordable clinics in the area which keeps them crazy busy. I personally find it endearing that the appearance hasn't changed much since the family opened the practice in 1955. My dogs don't care about the appearance either, only that they get loved on from any human in their path. My dogs scream with excitement when we enter the parking lot, they love Dr. Whitehouse and the clinic's long time Vet Tech, Deb. Tim is always running between rooms, answering calls and helping guests in the lobby whenever I'm waiting my turn. We give them 2 dew claws up! We highly recommend Dr. Whitehouse for your vetting needs! She is very kind and caring when it comes to animals and takes time with her clients no matter how big or small the issue/concern is with your fur babies. Read Less

My family has been taking our pets here since the mid-90's. They're always really nice, and the pricing is always pretty comparable. A couple years ago, my cat was going through a bad spell where she kept pulling out her fur. Dr. Emily was great with her, which is hard to do, as my cat doesn't like anyone. Went there for a free check up for a kitten I purchased from Petsmart and will NEVER go back. Every time you call, the phone just rings and goes into a voicemail. Then it takes a whole day for someone to actually call you back (happened to me both times I called them and the last call was about the medicine I received from them to give my kitten). The lobby smelled like urine and the vet that looked at my kitten didn't even do a "checkup" besides weigh him and check him for ear mites. All around horrible experience. Read Less

I love them! Besides taking great care of all my pets...they especially came through and saved the life of my tiny poodle who was struck by a car recently. I was sure we were rushing him in to be put down...not the case. Everyone there was outstanding in handling our emergency. They patched him up...and he's happily curled up on my lap right now. I took my Boxer here as we have recently moved to the area. He had very recently been to his normal vet who neglected to look at the lab work he insisted, and started treating him for an elevated kidney value. Strohbehn reviewed the findings and shared his thoughts that it might be cancer. I have opted not to treat, just provide pallative care. I highly respect this clinic for not pushing me into care or upsetting me things or special diets. I love my dog, and am very thankful Jody was very honest about what to expect. Read Less

Very happy with this clinic - we have been taking our pets here for about five years now and won't be switching unless our vet moves! :) It can be very busy at times, but just be patient and understanding - these guys and gals are hard workers. Been a customer here for ELEVEN years, took my doberman here all of his life. Recently took my new cat in for an ear cleaning. Was told $9 over the phone and when I arrived today I was told $37. I have never experienced that low quality of "customer service" in my life. I was talked down to, pretty much was told to go somewhere else by what appeared to be a 95 year old woman who obviously has no sense of customer service anymore. Would not recommend to anyone. Don't pay a pretty penny to be treated like dirt and talked to like an idiot. Read Less

Horrible experience. Will never ever go again. Took my dog in today for swollen face, was told it was a tooth and it needed to be extracted and he needed to stay and be put to sleep. Was told I could call and see how he was doing. I called and after calling 4 times because nobody would answer the phone, the person that answered only read me what the computer screen told him. He did not check or pass me to someone that actually knew how my dog was. When I arrived to pick him up, they took my money, which I was charged $103 for a teeth cleaning and polishing which I was never told was going to happen (and they certainly look the same to me as they did when he got there) on top of the rest of the procedure. The guy at the desk eventually went to the back to get my dog and gave him to me and said thanks. Nobody met with me to tell me what was done, what they found, if he can eat regular food right away, if he was given his medication for the day or if I am suppose to start it right away.... nothing. Very disgusted with the lack of service I received and the deception of what I was going to be charged for. Never again.Read Less

I absolutely love this vet clinic and so does my pug. We have seen several amazing doctors in Omaha/CB for various pug reasons (eyes, allergies, etc) but this is our main place for animal care. Dr. Lee is amazing and really cares about the animals! Prices are decent, but for the work done they are amazing. They will do their best to help your animals and if it's something they can't do or are not sure that they can guarantee success they will send you to somewhere that can, and even do the x-rays there so it's a little cheaper then at the surgical center. My little dog broke his paw all the way across and had to have surgery to fully correct it, but i was informed that it can just be splinted however that will not heal fully and could cause more problems down the line. He is a small dog and they are not equipped to handle such small bones, they were open and honest about it and recommended a surgeon that could. They did everything they could at their location to save me money and did all post op visits there as well. Wonderful people and very caring. Read Less

It's a very cheap vet and the vets really care about your animals.  These vets really do care about the animals that are brought in.The prices are awesome as well.  They could use a little renovating since it looks like it hasn't been done in years, but other than that, this is a great vet to take all of your animals to. I've been coming here for years and absolutely love it! It's a family-run business and the three vets are are great to work with. I was going to a different place in Council Bluffs for a couple years prior, until I learned their prices were a lot cheaper at Strohbehn. I've never left with a ridiculous vet bill. I feel like I am always in good hands, and that they're not pushing me into anything unnecessary.We've housed our dogs here and felt comfortable doing so. Both my cats and dogs have had operations here that went smoothly as well.  Our ferret, Walter, became very sick with pancreatic cancer. The vet, Emily gave us a really great course of action and kept in contact throughout the process. When he had to be put down, she made us feel very comfortable about the unfortunate circumstances. The facility itself is very old and could use some updates. The receptionist, who I think is the mother, sometimes can come across as rude, but she's overall a really nice lady. Read Less
