At South Des Moines Veterinary Center, located on the south side of Des Moines, Iowa, we strive to provide the best veterinary care for your dogs and cats—and exceptional service to you. We appreciate the unique bond you have with your pet and look forward to sharing the joys and challenges of pet ownership with you. We offer a full range of pet veterinary services, including pet wellness exams, sick pet visits, canine and feline dental care, internal medicine consults, soft tissue surgery, pet nutrition consultation, doggy day care, pet boarding, pet grooming, and end-of-life care.
Our AAHA veterinary practice has completed and continues to maintain a rigorous certification process. We are proud to be an AAHA practice; only 15% of all small animal veterinary practices in the United States are AAHA certified. Our highly skilled veterinarians and team are committed to continued education, which allows us to provide the latest information and treatments for your pet. Remember, we love them too!

Best group of people ever!!!! They take the best care of my pets. Constant updates, sneak us in where there are issues of concern and talk us through everything. Saturday puppy classes were absolutely amazing!! Everyone remembers us and our pets by name. Small town feel in the city. They genuinely care!!

I did not take my dog to South DSM Vet Center but my mother took our family dog here a couple days ago and she has done nothing but rant and rave about how caring and thorough they were with our family dog, Missy Mae. My dog was boarded for 3 days and they didn't think it was necessary to tell me his beautiful black nose had been scraped off and bleeding. We had emergency contact to pick him up less than a mile aw...
My dog was boarded for 3 days and they didn't think it was necessary to tell me his beautiful black nose had been scraped off and bleeding. We had emergency contact to pick him up less than a mile away in the event which he needed. You can see pictures on my page. It never healed right and now my $2000 pure bred Maltese with amazing blood lines has a dented pink nose. No offer for reimbursement. When we left they told me the vet had seen it and when I called back 30 mins later the vet asked me to bring him in so she could take a look at him. So a little contradiction. I have never written a bad review. They seem like nice people and a good vet. Perhaps lack of communication and wasn't fully cared for?

I absolutely love and recommend this clinic. We have a rescue dog who's afraid of all strangers, men, and most other dogs. The staff are so wonderful and our dog actually loves their male tech. The vet care has always been personable and great. The daycare is small and intimate and our dog has fun there. He's made doggy friends, not too overwhelming with heards of dogs like at other places. Very personal care and they always know his name. We recently moved and I'm really going to miss them!

This place is the ABSOLUTE BEST! When they say "We love them too" it's not just a slogan...it's the way they conduct business!Every aspect of your customer interaction is focused on your furry friend and their well being.We have been loyal customers for almost 4 years - since we moved to Des Moines. I've always been blown away by the professionalism and courtesy of the staff, but my favorite part is that the doctors always remembers details about our cats. Even the stories we tell, not just their medical history.This is the best and only place for your pet!

I am 25 and a first time pet owner and after adopting my cat she had numerous issues with various illnesses and complications because of her time on the street and in the shelter. Both Dr Beyer and Dr Mullins are so sweet to my cat and very kind to me. They answer all of my dumb questions and make me and my cat feel comfortable no matter what we are there for! They take great care of my cat and I am very happy with every experience I've had so far. The clinic overall is great as well. They call to follow up and remember me and conversations we have had. I know my cat and I are in great hands here. Highly recommend. (And I've had no issues with cost estimates being wrong)

I recently lost my cat of 17 years and I brought him to s.d.m.v.c and they were so comforting and stayed with me the whole time Dr. Mullins and her nurse loved on him to help a sure that he was in good hands, they even told me they havent seen an all white cat in so long expecially a white cat that's lived 17 years and that I'm a great mom for giving him such a wonderful long life. once he left me and joined all the other beautiful fur babies in fur heaven she gave me a hug I've never had a vet do that...and today I got a card from them and they wrote the nicest things made me cry tears of joy knowing that they truly do care for animals and their owners.

We take our dogs Lambeau and Lil Toby to SDMVC and are always very impressed how warm, friendly and caring they are. Lambeau loves to go every 3-4wks and see her buddy ""Tammy"" and she is the sweetest person! My questions are answered and both Dr's Flaming and Beyer are wonderful! Would recommend anyone with a ""four legged kid"" to check out the efficient, caring team at SDMVC.

My dog was boarded for 3 days and they didn't think it was necessary to tell me his beautiful black nose had been scraped off and bleeding. We had emergency contact to pick him up less than a mile away in the event which he needed. You can see pictures on my page. I absolutely love and recommend this clinic. We have a rescue dog who's afraid of all strangers, men, and most other dogs. The staff are so wonderful and our dog actually loves their male tech. The vet care has always been personable and great. The daycare is small and intimate and our dog has fun there. He's made doggy friends, not too overwhelming with heards of dogs like at other places. Very personal care and they always know his name. We recently moved and I'm really going to miss them!

I am 25 and a first time pet owner and after adopting my cat she had numerous issues with various illnesses and complications because of her time on the street and in the shelter.
