Dr. D.C. Hansen
Dr. D. C. Hansen graduated Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. After practicing near Watertown, SD for a couple years, he came home to practice in Shelby and has been here ever since. He lives in rural Avoca, IA where he and his wife Cindy raise Thoroughbreds. His son Adam graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and now works at the clinic. His daughter Vanessa was also a graduate of Iowa State University and now resides in Des Moines, IA.

Dr. Brandi L. Huddle graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2008. She is a 2000 graduate of Tri-Center High School and also received a B.S. in Animal Science in 2004 from Iowa State University. Her interests include small animal medicine and surgery, equine medicine, bovine and ovine medicine and surgery with an emphasis in bovine/ovine reproduction.

He is a 2001 graduate of AHST in Avoca and also received a B.S. in Animal Science in 2005 from Iowa State University. His interests include bovine production medicine and surgery, small animal medicine and surgery as well as equine medicine with an emphasis in equine dentistry. He resides with his wife Tammy and their two kids, Ethan and Elayna, in Avoca, IA.

A very grateful thank you to Mike Bladt at the Shelby Vet Clinic. He returned our call within minutes and we were quickly on our way with our sick dog. My husband and I were impressed with the care and tests that Mike provided. Mind you he took the time to see us on a very cold New Year's Eve! Wrigley is up to full speed now thanks to Mike's care. After having 2 terrible experiences with the Avoca vet (1 in which they let my dog die) We were so happy to find this great vet to take care of our animals. When i brought my dog in for the 2nd time and everyone knew his name I instantly knew we had found our vet.
I just wished we had found them sooner. I know they would've prevented my animal from suffering like Avoca did.

This afternoon our dog got hurt and Dr Hansen returned our call immediately. He said to bring him in right away and he'd meet us. He gave our Moose excellent care and stitched him up. We have had multiple times we've called after hours and have always received exceptional care from all the vets. They follow up several days later to call and check on your pet. The office staff are kind and caring as well as the vet tecs. Shelby Vet Clinic is the only place we'll take our pets. They are the best!

These are the BEST vets that I have ever taken my dogs to. They listen, care, engage and talk you through everything that they are doing. I have worked with Mike, mostly, but the rest of the staff are always friendly when you walk in, remember you (and your pets) by name and are excited to see you. I think that makes it all worth while. I would HIGHLY recommend taking your animals here for anything.

We had to make the very difficult decision to put our family dog to sleep. The staff at Shelby Vet Clinic was so caring and understanding!! Allowing time afterwards, giving us options for aftercare, and sending us a sympathy card with hand written messages from the staff. Our dog had many special needs and they always got us right in! They are so caring!!

This afternoon our dog got hurt and Dr Hansen returned our call immediately. He said to bring him in right away and he'd meet us. He gave our Moose excellent care and stitched him up.
