If I could give 0 stars I would. My wife called hilltop in Baldwin ks 2 months ago to have our dogs fixed and and they told us that they were in able to help us at that time due to cattle season And inable to take new clients at that time. so they scheduled us for May 2nd and the only reason we stayed with the idea of using this vet is because they came with good reviews and our dogs are our children and they deserve the best. Well we called today to find out when to drop them off. We were told that they would call us back to let us know and they just called my wife and informed her that they can't help us now due to cattle season. That's the same excuse we were given before. That's pretty incompetent if you ask me SEEING THAT THEY HAD 2 MONTHS TO GET THE SCHEDULE SITUATED TO MAKE SURE THEIR NEW CLIENTS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. And they didn't even offer to set up another appointment time. So like I said before if I could I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. I took my 5 month old goldendoodle to Dr Stegman for her first puppy visit when she was 8 weeks old and all her puppy boosters since and will continue to take her for all her vet care needs. He is great with her and also with the owners. He is patient and actually spends time with the animal and answers all the questions one may have. I highly recommend him as to anyone who has a beloved furbaby! Read Less

Leroy is both the vet to our beloved pets, but also our farm animals. He's the best vet anyone could ask for! He truly loves the animals, and he is especially accommodating when there's an emergency. We've had some scares with our diabetic cat but everything ended up fine because of Leroy. He's honest and communicates well and will take care of any animal you bring in. I've been going to Dr. Stegman for about a year now with my first dog, Caesar. I'm thankful I was able to find such an affordable vet for my pup. And even more so, how much they love my dog. They take great care of him every time we visit. Dr. Stegman is a soft spoken man, but you can truly see his passion for taking care of animals. They have always answered my concerns for my pup, since he is a pit bull and a country dog, who is about to be moving to the city. I have been using Dr. Leroy Stegman since 2006, and I think he's an amazing vet with a wonderful way with animals. He's always been very kind and helpful, he has AMAZING prices and you can usually get your pet in same day. That said, his employee at the front desk--Rae, I think--has NO BUSINESS working there. She is incredibly rude, unprofessional, lacks compassion and even basic social skills. She doesn't greet you when you walk in, she acts like you being there is a huge imposition, and she's not helpful at all. I've gone in at least half a dozen times the past couple of years and it's always the same. When my previous dog passed away and I came in crying to pick up his ashes, she didn't say a word. When I bring him in for shots, she doesn't speak. When they made a mistake last week, she didn't say a word. Absolutely ridiculous. The final nail in the coffin just happened. My small dog somehow escaped their care while we were out of town for a week. We were in Tennessee when we received a phone call from another vet in town saying someone found our dog running down the highway and brought him in and got our info from his microchip. We were stunned and said he was supposed to be boarded at Baldwin Hilltop. We hadn't received a phone call notifying us they'd lost him or anything else! When the other vet called them, they were unaware he'd even been missing! He must've escaped their fence and since the dogs are unsupervised, they didn't realize.We refused to let them come and get the dog because I was no longer confident in their ability to protect and care for him. We wanted the new vet to board him and asked Hilltop to send over vax records. Rae refused. She was extremely rude to the new vet and to us on the phone. When my husband called she didn't even apologize! When we returned home a week later, I had to pick up my dog's leash and food. Again, I walked in to pick up my dog's things and she didn't say a word, just handed me the bag and ignored me. No apology at all. It's so crazy! My dog could've ran away, been stolen or gotten run over, and she can't muster a WORD about it??!!! This woman is terrible and shouldn't be working with customers!
