Dr smith has been my vet for as long as hes been at apple lane about 20 years or so. I love him as a vet hes compassionate and caring for the animals and financially when its hard to pay for the expensive stuff your animal needs. Was a customer here until the receptionist ran me off. Caring doctors, incredibly rude phone service. I work in service and detest very few things more than someone that is obviously irritated by answering your questions and has a vocabulary that contains nothing more than "Yeah. Uh huh. Mhm and Ok." It took me two days of calling into this office before I took my dog in as a walk-in for what I thought was a minor issue. I could not get a hold of anyone at the front desk. I was hung up on multiple times. When we were finally seen, testing was done without our consent or knowledge. We were told they were taking a urinary sample, but when they came back they had done blood tests and multiple x-rays without telling us. There were serious issues that were not predictable from what we had gone in with, and she had to stay overnight. Communication from staff was horrible. When we went to pick her up, thinking she was being released, very sick, but able to be at home, we were instead told that we had misunderstood and they were refusing to treat her. We were given the option to either put her down there or take her somewhere else. This was after waiting in the parking lot on a weekend for an hour for the vet to call us back. Upon taking her to an emergency vet hours away, we had to re-do all the testing that was done at Apple Lane, because records were not sent as we were told. Our bill was not sent to us a month later, and we had to go in person to pay. I told staff I was taking my animals to a different vet and requested records to take with me. I was then told they had no records of any of the animals I had ever taken there. I was given rabies certificates and told they had nothing else for me despite multiple surgeries and exams at the facility. Be very careful if you take your animals here for anything other than routine care. If you do take your animals here, I would highly recommend a second opinion on any serious concerns and staying on top of staff for communication about your animals. Read Less

I had went here for quite awhile but when my dog was having issues they more or less just gave me meds and told me nothing about what was going on. They had my dog on steroids without even telling me. Simulair thing happened with my moms dog there. She was having a serious problem and they told her she would have to take the dog to KU to get a diagnosis. She then took the dog to prairie vista & they gave her a lot of information as to what the issue could be. Take your animals to prairie vista in south hutchinson. They actually take the time to explain to you whats going on & your options for treatment. They seem like they actually care where as apple lane just wants to give you drugs and send you out the door. I will NEVER go back to apple lane Read Less
