I don't write many reviews, but felt the need to do so with how amazing Animal Hospital of Lawrence has been with my boy Roco. He had surgery last week to remove 4 tumors, teeth cleaning, toe nails and got all his shots up to date. He is about 120lbs of love and muscle, so he can be a pain in the butt if he doesn't like something. But they did a great job regardless and the price was more then reasonable for the amount of work that was done. Thanks again Animal Hospital of Lawrence! 🐢 Read Less

I went to this place of business off of the star rating level of care that it had received on google. However I was disappointed. The staff there were immediately very nice, and very affectionate toward my 6 month old kitty Roxy, of which I did appreciate. I spared them a star rating because of this. Initially Roxy was not eating and hardly drinking for a couple days. So I saw Dr. Coles at the Animal Hospital of Lawrence. The Dr. did not treat Roxy to the proper medications needed. Nor did I feel he was very affectionate toward her. I was billed $90 for an anti nausea/anti -diarrheal medication and was sent on my way stating there was nothing else he can do at the time, and to come back for a follow up visit. To conclude the meds he provided gave her absolutely no assistance for her conditions and she became very docile. Meanwhile, down the block Dr. Lewis was fantastic! On my first visit he was very affectionate toward Roxy, and prescribed her an antibiotic that helped her almost immediately at a $50 charge.I apologize but I would not recommend this facility. At least for little kitties.. Read Less

Dr. Coles and the staff at the Animal Hospital of Lawrence are extremely kind and attentive people. They have always provided my cat, Korra, with exceptional care, and they try to keep your budget in mind when setting up treatment plans. When Korra became very ill and had to be taken to an emergency hospital, they provided blankets and a heating pad for her comfort; they even offered to do blood work in-house so that the work would not have to be done at the hospital, which saved us a lot of money. AHL is hands down the best vet in town, and I recommend that everyone bring their animal there for care! Read Less

Having evolved over several decades as pet owner from fish to birds to guinea pigs to a rabbit, I finally (when approaching my fifties) got into a position of feeling like I could afford a dog. I got a purebred (yellow) lab puppy that I named Kafka. I started out with a vet that I ended up extremely unhappy with after 9-12 months, and then started with the Animal Hospital of Lawrence, only about 20 yards way from my apartment and have been with them ever since. Kafka lived to be almost 14 and 1/2 years old and his end at the clinic was as gentle and kind as I could hope for. I initially *thought* I would never get another canine companion but another dog's story (his lab-mix mother, Penny, was apparently an escape artist and escaped *2* foster homes while pregnant, the second escape was when she was nearing the birth time). But she was found in time and the puppies were born at the Lawrence Humane Society. When I undertook committing to Bill, her only male puppy, there was no question where Bill would go for his vet treatment. The staff, to a person, are exceptional in every important way. I'm not surprised to see such a high percentage of 5-star ratings and have decided to add one more.Read Less

I recently moved to lawrence with my 5 year old pitbull! Shortly after the move he started vomiting but had no other symptoms. I had to wait 3 days to get him in but that is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. Other than the wait the staff was very nice to me & my dog, the vet was knowledgeable and interacted with Kyng (my dog) well. He was given a bland food for the weekend after testing negative for parasites and the worms and sure enough he stopped puking that day! They gave me a coupon to use for the food that saved me about 12 dollars so it wasn't outrageously expensive. I will definitely be sticking with them. Hopefully the availability gets better! I have had nothing but positive experiences with Animal Hospital of Lawrence (AHL), even when they've had to see us under negative circumstances. Β We have two cats, Osiris and Isis. Β Both are of non-specific breeds: Osiris is a long-haired black male and Isis is a short-haired tortoiseshell female. Β Both have had their shots done at AHL, and Osiris was neutered and Isis was spayed there. Β When Osiris was young, we also had his front claws taken out there because he is an indoor-only cat. Both cats have also had emergency visits, and AHL has been fantastic about all of them. Β Osiris has been in twice with bladder issues, and the doctors have been very attentive and caring despite his temperament. You see, Osiris has a Jekyll/Hyde complex -- at home he is docile, lazy, and passive. Β But, something clicks at the vet and he turns into a raging machine of aggression, anger, and fear. Β The last time he went in with a bladder blockage (very painful, and a very sick kitty) he had to stay a couple of days, and the veterinarians were very professional with him, even when he slashed four scratches down the vet's forearm _with his teeth_. Β I applaud their professionalism with our scared devil-cat.Isis also took a trip into AHL when she somehow cut her tongue nearly in half on some still-unknown sharp object. Β Though we came in at 4:55p.m. on a Friday, they received her, kept her, stitched her tongue up, and were right there for us in what could otherwise have been a very troubling time. Β Thanks to their good work, she made a full recovery, her tongue only shows the faintest trace of having been nearly half-missing, and she's a delightful and loving kitty. In all of my contact with AHL, they have been very forthright, matter-of-fact, and professional in the handling of our pets. Β They have my highest recommendation. Read Less

Super friendly staff and vet. Everything went by quick and easy, and they made sure my kitten had a wonderful first visit.

My beagle, Maddie, has been going to the Animal Hospital of Lawrence since I first got her in 2007. Dr. Coles has been our vet of choice and he is such an asset to the clinic -- whether it is travel forms, routine visits or more serious issues. Most recently, Dr. Coles and Heeb worked closely with me on a pain management regimen for my dog (following an injury) and he has followed up regularly to check on Maddie's progress. Just as important...he is very patient with concerned and stressed pet-parents! Thanks. Read Less

I needed 2 vaccine boosters for my dog, one of which is apparently uncommon in KS, since Lyme disease isn't prevalent. Β When I called, the woman who answered the phone offered to call around and check with a KC vet to see if they could find the booster. Β The other places I called just told me they didn't have it. Β I am grateful for this vet office's help. Read Less

LoverSawyerTaffyThree very important members of our extended family. Two cats, one very elderly, and an elderly dog. All three have been in the care of Dr. Bayouth who has been caring for our treasured family members for close to 20 years. In his care we feel like they absolutely get the attention and care we want them to have. The entire staff here is just wonderful and really love their patients, this much is obvious. I don't know what else I could say to indicate our appreciation of the staff here. Job well done! Read Less

The Animal Hospital of Lawrence is the best vet office in town - we have tried them all. They have great prices. Our dog has to get her anal sacs expressed once a week and rather than having to pay they taught me how to do it myself at home. Dr. Bayouth has talked with me and helped me a lot with my first old cat whose health is declining. He has talked patiently with me on the phone when I have had questions. The staff is fabulous and super friendly. It is so nice to have a vet office that I can depend on and know my animals are cared about. I HIGHLY recommend. Read Less

Read Less
