I brought my cat in to get neutered and updated on his shots. The dr and staff were very nice and informative. He explained to me the process (pictures and all) to make sure I understood the surgery. This vet office saved my dog's life last summer when she got Rocky mountain spotted fever. Four days in the doggie hospital, IV therapy for dehydration and antibiotics was about $700. Sounds like a lot of money, but I knew she was getting good care, and the after-hours vet actually came to my house and took her to the clinic because I was awaiting a knee replacement and couldn't lift a lethargic 70 pound dog by myself. I am a client for as long as I have dogs (they've cared for three and provided compassionate euthanization for two of them). Love this clinic. Read Less

Although this is not the cheapest veterinary practice in Lawrence, it is hands-down the best. And that's in a city with many fine veterinarians. My personal experience is with Dr. Liebl, who treated my pets 20 years ago and to whom I have returned now that I live in town again. He is extremely well informed and when possible offers options to fit your budget. He clearly loves animals and enjoys his work, but also understands pragmatic constraints. I have seen Dr. Liebl twice now. The first time was in November of 2017 when we had to say goodbye to our min pin. Having a euthanasia as your first experience with a new vet is not ideal, but it does really tell you a lot about how your vet will treat you and your fur kids. He was so patient, kind, and empathetic throughout the whole visit, and wrote a very kind note in the sympathy card he sent our family. We visited again today for my other dog’s wellness check and yearly vaccines, and we are definitely pleased we made the choice to continue seeing Dr. Liebl. He is always so personable and friendly, and he was very thorough in our dog’s wellness exam. He answered all my questions patiently and was very gentle and kind to our pupper. I can't say enough good things about this animal hospital. I had searched far and wide to find a vet I felt comfortable with to take care of my older dog. She needed a teeth cleaning and check ups. I came in interested because they were AAHA accredited, but I have stayed and will continue to stay with them because of their quality of care. Everyone at this place loves their patients, I knew my dog was in good hands the minute I met our vet, Dr. Lyon. They were so thorough, kind, competent, and compassionate. After my pets surgery they made sure I had all the tools and know how for after care and have made sure to keep in touch to make sure my dog is doing well. I started this journey worried and anxious that I would never find the right vet, and I am so happy to have found this place and I will highly recommend them to everyone I know. Read Less

We took our dog to have a sonogram. Arrive to have the sonogram only to have a “doctor” that clearly stated to us she did not know how to properly perform a sonogram. She told us our dog had at least three puppies, possibly more, and sent us along our way. Fast forward three weeks. It’s really weighing on my fiancée that she felt cheated on the sonogram and contacted the office to see if it could be re-done. They apologized and scheduled one with someone trained to do the sonogram. We go in this evening for the sonogram only to find out that not only is our dog not pregnant, but she has a severe infection and has to have an emergency surgery to remove her uterus and will never be able to have puppies. The doctor tells us how “lucky” we are that we caught this infection when we did or our dog would have died. I’ll let everyone else, another veterinarian, the Kansas Veterinary Licensing Board, and an attorney decide the outcome in the end... But this office had the nerve to not only charge us for the operation to remove the uterus that could have been prevented if someone that knew how to perform a sonogram had done it in the first place... But to actually charge us extra because of “complications” also caused by their negligence. This will likely be veterinary malpractice. I cannot say anything negative about all of the doctors in this practice, but the ones that we have dealt with have been incompetent and clearly dishonest. As routine as a doggy pregnancy would seem to be, I cannot imagine trusting this practice with anything ever again. UPDATE: Attempted to pick up copies of the sonograms they performed. My fiancée went in first and was told they couldn’t be printed because the machine was broken. Then I go in and Dr. Liebl tells me the disc burner is broken. I ask for the make and model of the sonogram machine and Google it. There are a number of ways to transfer files from this machine. This is a deliberate attempt to slow our ability to get the documentation we are entitled to. More lies from both Dr. Liebl and his staff. UPDATE: Another veterinarian perform sonograms, performed the spaying procedure, and dissected the uterus. Our dog was never pregnant. The infection was very bad and it was determined it likely should have been caught at the first sonogram. This is why CPAH does not want to release our sonogram photos because those pictures will show that the untrained and negligent Myranda Lyon should have caught the infection in the first sonogram. It is also highly likely that, if caught earlier, it could have been treated with antibiotics and hormones and we would not have to sacrifice her uterus. We fully believe this is Veterinary Malpractice, further confirmed by the lies and the refusal to release records we have rights to. No amount of years of service mean a thing... When something goes wrong, that is where you see the true colors of their ethics. Read Less

Dr. Lyon provided such loving care to my beloved 15 yr old Lab during her last years. I greatly appreciated her compassion and genuine love for my dog. Dr. Lyon was very kind and gentle with my dog.....and to me as well! I've never had a vet get down on the floor with my dog to be at her level, but Dr. Lyon would just sit next to her like it was no big deal and listen to her heart, etc. The vet techs (Dani and another girl who I can't remember the name of) were also wonderful. Dr. Lyon never made me feel judged or silly for asking questions or expressing my concerns. My dog was in good hands with her and I knew I didn't have to second guess what she was telling me. She also never tried to talk me into any procedures/tests that my dog didn't need. During the final months of my dogs life Dr. Lyon went above and beyond by calling me multiple times to check on her. On several occasions she came outside with me before/after vet visits to see how my dog was walking (she had joint issues) and even offered to assist me with getting her into the car. Putting my dog to sleep was a very difficult decision but Dr. Lyon made the process as easy as possible. We were allowed to spend as much time as we wanted with our dog before and after she was euthanized. The office was super busy that day and I'm sure they needed the room we were in for other clients but nobody rushed us and insisted we take our time. I greatly appreciated this! Dr. Lyon sent me a kind note of sympathy and CPAH also made a donation to the K-State Pet Tribute in memory of my dog. These gestures provided me comfort during a very tough time.When I picked up her ashes, the kind girl (maybe Sydney?) who brought them to me gave me a hug. That's exactly what I needed in that moment.  Linda at the front desk is amazing and I always enjoy my interactions with her. She knows how to provide great customer service! Don't ever let her quit!Yes, CPAH costs slightly more than other vets but I don't mind paying more when I know my pet is receiving the best care. The only complaint I have is that every time I would check-out to leave they would tell me the dollar amount I owed and only after I paid would I receive an itemized invoice. I would have liked to have seen the breakdown of what I was paying for before I paid. That being said, I'm sure they would have if I had asked. And now that I think about it, other vet offices do this same thing, so I suppose it's common practice. The only other small gripe I have is that one of the office staff members called me the day of an appointment to see if I could bring my dog in earlier. I said sure, but when I arrived they didn't know why I was there early and said the doctor wasn't in yet. So they had me leave my dog, which was fine with me. When I paid the bill and saw the itemized receipt afterward I noticed they charged me a $20 fee for dropping my dog off early. Since they asked me to bring her early I didn't think I should have been charged for this. Other than my few complaints, I would definitely recommend any of the veterinarians at CPAH. Read Less

Absolutely horrible place.  But you get free donuts.  Believe me you're gonna pay for those donuts. I called twice to get brands and prices for flea control for my cats.  It was late so I called the next day.  Same price and I can stop.by any time to pick up Revolution. No one said anything about bringing my my cats.I got there, checked in and they said my cats had to see a vet for a prescription.  I had gone thru surgery a couple days prior so it was obvious I wasnt feeling well.  But after they had moved me I had seen a couple fleas and did not want them to spread. Moving causes dormant eggs to hatch. I talked to mgr, she blamed misinfo on new personnel.  Im in pain and I have to go get cats. The manager said she would waive the office visit.I came back and the mgr asked if they could squeeze my appt in.  No they were too busy but I could leave for cats overnight (actually til Monday as they arent open Sunday.)I said "FOR A HEARTWORM TEST?"  No there is no test for heartworm in cats.  So why are my cats here?  I thought they both had to be tested.  Saw Dr Liebl, I believe.  He looked at them as he weighed them. I said i was pretty sure they had tapeworm as i had moved from rural area and had fleas the year bedore. He said Revolution took care of all.those worms. (Used Frontline before but Revolution is supposed to be better.  It kills some worms but not tapeworms).  I said one cat always was getting earmites.  He said it was probably yeast infection.  Never looked. Never ran tests of ANY KIND.  Took no temp, looked in no ears, clipped no nails. Did look at one cats teeth.  (So he could recommend cleaning and scaling.)When I went to pay the price for Revolution was much higher (new personnel made mistake) Then she said she would only waive one office visit, so that was another $61 or $62.I want a job that pays $60+ for weighing dogs and cats.  Thats each if younlook at them.  That amounts to a tidy sum per hour.Office mgr walked me to my car. By this time my back hurt so bad I was crying, but i guess even if I spent around $200 they cant give you a cardboard carrier and I assume she thought I'd steal the plastic one instead of bringing it back in.So I drove home with 2 agitated scared and nervous cats running through out the car.  Im not sure thats even legal.  She could have given me a cardboard box with holes.It gets a little dicey when you get home, ones under a seat and ones in the window.   I have to get ahold of both firmly and hold onto them while I get out of the car and then try to close the door and leave one in there because I cant hild both and unlock the door. Then when I go back Idk where thst ine is hiding and im afraid hes going to rush out the door. We're in a new place, they are not outdoor cats but they want to go.back to their old home and Im afraid if they get loose they may try and then wont be able to find the new house. My surgery wss easier and my doctor ran all the tests he was supposed to and removed everything he needed to.  Twonweeks later he checked to make sure eveeything was healing and working.Several weeks later my cats have more tape worms and I find out I need a different med for that and I still need to find out if my cat has earmites or a yeast infection.   Guess where I didn't go?What a racket. You get flea meds and then they charge you for a test that no one has.  $61-2!  To tell you nothing but your cat's weight.  I know how much my cats weigh.Dont know how much your cat or dog weighs?  PM me and bring him over.  I charge ZERO.Most vets will weigh your pet free of charge even if your pet is not their patient. The office manager, BRENDA KAPPERMAN, set this FRAUD up.  I imagine the vets thought it up.  Fortunately, Idn eat a donut.  Im afraid to even know the surcharge on that.  They're on a cake plate.  Anyone can handle them. My dog has anxiety and is very nervous at the vet but the doctors are so compassionate and care about his comfort. They make the appointment easy on my dog and make him feel safe. I have never taken the time to review anything, but CPAH stands out and I wanted to take the time to share! The people at this hospital are truly wonderful. Each staff member is helpful and so friendly and kind to animals and people too! Dr. Leibel takes time to explain and answer any questions you might have. He provided materials to review, drew diagrams, etc. If only my own "people" doctors would take the time to really listen and teach like Dr. Leibel! He is so caring and accommodating. He and his staff are incredibly sweet and playful with my 1 year old son as well! I enjoy going in there, and completely trust their insight and wisdom in caring for my dogs. On February 1, we had to make the difficult decision to let one of our dogs transition to enternal sleep. We had been discussing this previously and once we decided we called Dr. Tom Liebl for the final transition. Dr Tom has been our vet for our animals for over 15 plus years and he is part of our family. We were greeted by the staff and hugs as we all knew what was going to transpired. The final minutes with Melody was very beautiful and Dr Tom was there as a friend and doctor who loved our pets as much as anyone. When I came back two days later to get dog food others staff came up and express their thoughts about Melody. We cannot express our deepest satisfaction for Dr Tom and the entire staff during the time of our transition. We have seen all the VETS here over the years and all of them are special and the STAFF is so great we always know our dogs are in good hands for boarding, grooming or visits. We can't say enough fantastic things about Dr. Liebl and his awesome staff. We have been coming here for about 4 years with our cat and got a puppy last February and have had all of his vaccinations and now his neutering surgery. In addition we have used their groomer and boarding services, all of which are top notch!! We wouldn't trust our pets with anyone else.
