Owner of two dogs tango and sugar Dr.Jarett/Dr.Hyde I had been going to Dr. Jarett for 5 years at the time she went Crazy. I brought my very sick dog in and she required her to have to stay 3 -4 nights. When I came to get my dog Dr. Jarett was trying to keep her imprisoned with a lien. I did not like this we had a verbal agreement the bill came up to $668(this may not be exact im going off memory it is around this price)and she wanted to keep her kenaled until the entire bil...l was paid off and still charge me extra for each night she had to hold a lien on her( it was racketeering). I had been going to this lady for 5yrs. I had never had any over due balances I always paid up front, $668 was just too much for me to pay in one exchange. Our verbal agreement was I would pay half up front then give her post dated checks for the rest. Dr. Jarrett was still being really aggressive with me in a very unprofessional manner so I just told her what I thought I felt saddened by her behavior and said,"well if you are willing to keep my sick animal imprisoned you must really care more about money than the animals well being. Dr. Jarrett went crazy she started yelling and cussing at me she kept trying to pick things up off the front desk to throw at me finally her staff intervened and my husband took our 3 year old out to the car because despite her presence and my husband reminding the Dr. She was in the office Dr.Jarrett really didnt register that she was being inappropriate. Dr. Jarrett went to the back while I talked to her very nice staff but she kept storming from the back yelling at me and cussing at me and continuing to act like she was going to assault me and picking up pens and staplers and acting like she wanted to throw them at me really bad I mean she was having a fit. I stayed calm in disbelief and tried to ignore her so I could wrap up my business and get out of there. I addressed her a few times during her tantrum hoping I could make her compose herself and calm down I told her that i couldn't believe she acted like this in her place of work and then had to threaten one time to call the cops if she touched me. Obviously she has severe mental illnesses or the stress of work is catching up to her or maybe because she owns this practice she believes she has no consequences for her actions. Even after all that I paid her like I promised. One of her nice staff apologized to me and told me they could not believe she was acting like that and I have not been back since she lost a loyal customer that day because she could not control her temper and became unhindged. Drs. Jarrett and Kissinger performed an incredibly technical emergency operation with persistent and skill. Our dog ingested a cotton belt that unraveled in the stomach and gut. Unable to eat or keep food down, he was getting weaker and weaker. While the dog had to be transferred to Blue Pearl for monitoring, we thank our lucky stars this talented team performed the operation itself. We are luck to have these verterinanians in Lawrence. Dr. Kissinger saw my cat Lulu yesterday for a bad case of fleas (fleas had caused a skin infection, tapeworms, hair loss and weight loss.) Not only did she treat my cat with antibiotics, dewormer, and flea medicine, she was extremely warm and kind. I would have paid almost any price to help my cat, and still I was pleasantly surprised when my bill came to about half what I was expecting. Dr. Jarrett's 25 years of veterinary experience and client satisfaction combined with Dr. Kissinger's thorough capabilities and willingness to get difficult patients to feel comfortable is why I love Jarrett Small Animal Clinic. My dog suffered on a daily basis from severe anxiety. I have tried various different kinds of supplements from PetSmart/Petco/etc. marketed for anxiety but was shocked and so happy to find one that actually helped my dog feel less afraid of life through Jarrett Small Animal Clinic and thanks to Dr. Jarrett. My cat is exceptionally overweight and Dr. Jarrett put her on Hill's Prescription Diet Metabolic wet and dry food which has helped her drop some weight. Dr. Kissinger was very kind to show me ways I could get my cat to be more active with certain toys as well as other feeding routine changes. My cat is so large she can't reach her backside to groom it and keep it clean and free of mats; once a month the vet tech, Kinisha, does a fantastic job clipping the hair around her bum and scrubbing it up for her to keep it nice, clean, and pretty. Their pricing has always been much lower than other clinics around Lawrence. You get a 10% discount for bringing two or more in at the same time. Just brought #Davethecat in for her first appointment with Dr. Kissinger, and it was absolutely wonderful. You can tell she knows her stuff and cares so much about the animals she sees. Techs were helpful and kind, Vet was ready to see us at the time of our appointment, everyone treated my cat with great care, her exam was thorough, and all my questions were answered. Dr. Jarrett is wonderful! I'm moving with my kitty to Spain and she was so helpful through the whole process and really worked hard to get all the paperwork and everything else done! I called in saying my dog had blood in his stool and they told me an exam was $45 and to bring in a sample. The lady on the phone said I would be notified of any additional costs associated with the appointment before they proceeded with anything beyond the $45 exam fee. When I checked out my total was $64, the stool exam was $18 and no one mentioned that too me at any point. The lady on the phone told me to bring it in and in the same breath said I would only be paying $45. The appointment was fine, I am just very upset that I was blindsided by this. I personally do not feel I should have had to pay the additional $18 for not being correctly informed. I will not be going back because of this. When it comes to vets and expenses they can get tacked on and they need to be upfront about the cost. Read Less

My mother and I have been taking our cats & dogs to Dr. Jarrett since I was a kid. I have lived all over the U.S. and have not found a better veterinarian. Since my family lives in Lawrence, I bring my pets back for visits and she remains my primary vet for both my pets (a small dog and a cat) even though I live out of town. Our cat was extremely lethargic and we took him to a different clinic in town.  The vet wasn't even able to get his temperature because he was "too difficult" and sent us home with no answers, some pain pills, and a huge bill.  After giving him the pills that night, he woke up the next day even worse. We then took him to Dr. Jarrett who was wonderful! ��She realized he was difficult, but didn't send us home because of it.  She figured out the problem and gave our cat exactly what he needed at a reasonable price.  She never tried to push products/foods on us (even when I asked, she said what we were using was fine), she and her staff were very helpful and nice, and she healed our cat quickly!  We will continue to go to Dr. Jarrett for all of our veterinary needs. When an injured & ill stray kitten showed up on our doorstep late one night, which the humane society would not take in, we were forced to quickly find an affordable veterinarian which we did in Dr. Jarrett. She got Olive in immediately to perform surgery on her badly broken leg. After a month in a cast, medication, vaccinations & spaying she was all better with just a slight limp as a reminder of how nearly she came to not pulling through. Since then we've taken Olive and Pepper, whom we added to our household a year later, to Dr. Jarrett for all their veterinary needs.We've always been able to get in to see Dr. Jarrett in a reasonable amount of time. She and her vet techs take good care of our girls. Dr. Jarrett even takes a moment to hold our cats - one at a time, if they're willing - so they get to know her a bit. She's very quick and efficient and obviously loves her work and the animals she comes in contact with on a daily basis.The clinic has two separate entrances and waiting areas for cats and dogs and a number of cats live in the clinic and are often seen wandering around, greeting the visiting animals or lounging on the office furniture. The vet techs often bring their own pets and overall it's a very pet and human friendly environment.In the past six years, we've had no reason to not be happy with the service and care we and our cats have received from Dr. Jarrett.
