My cat had been attacked by a dog and I took her to blue pearl. They couldn’t keep her there but they gave me a list of animal clinics that could and this one was on the list and close to my home and convenient so I brought her there. They were quite rude from the beginning. As soon as we got back with a doctor they immediately started saying she was going to have to be put down. I was obviously not wanting to do this as she was my best friend and had been my first pet I ever had. Blue pearl had said that she would live though she would need a lot of stuff done and would probably never walk again. When I told the doctor they basically said that that was not true and the cat would have to be put down. They repeatedly suggested that and never really gave us any other options but I left her there because I needed a place for her to stay overnight that could care for her. A few days later I called to see how she was doing and they said she just needed to be put down. I told them I wanted to take her to a couple of other vets and see what they said and if I decided to put her down I would take her back and let them do it and by the time I got to the animal clinic to pick her up maybe 30 minutes after the phone call my cat had “mysteriously” died. I do not recommend taking any of your pets to this clinic if you want them to live and you want to continue to make memories with them!! Read Less

After over 15 years of going here, we were treated horribly and unprofessionally when we transferred to another vet after moving. So appalled at their behavior. There are many advanced places you can go that would be far better. Save your time and don't go here. They won't call in prescriptions so they can sell them on the side for extra cash. Long but worth reading. Let me start off by saying we have been taking our dog here for years and have been happy overall with the clinic. Today my 5 star review turned into 0 stars. Unfortunately, my family has to say goodbye to him today. It was expected to happen because he is older but not expected as fast as it happened. Nobody ever wants to make the call especially after years of watching your family grow with them. When we called this morning, they said when familys want to be there as they go they prefer to make the appointment at the end of the day. (Thats completely understandable because its an emotional time especially for the kids and family) We said okay, when should we be there? Their response was "we wont have an opening for 2-4 days or you can drop him off and we will fit him in the schedule sometime today". Are you kidding me? How insensitive and rude. Our beloved dog that you have been treating for years and is comfortable coming to you is suffering tremendously right now. At this point my wife is holding back from crying on the phone, I have a crying 4 year old in the backround because he is losing his best friend right in front of him and after trusting you for years you shrug us off at the hardest time of our dogs life instead of trying to help. I understand we are not your only client and know that other family's are going through the same thing but we trusted you for so many years. My family has been using this clinic for our pets for close to 15 years. Everyone is very helpful and kind. Dr. Thompson is very honest about his opinion of what is best for the animal. I really appreciate the vet staff at Murlen Animal Clinic - Dr. Thompson is very gentle, thorough and caring, and Toni at the front desk is exceptional. We went in worried about our 11 week old maltese puppy and the vet looked her over and gave her a clean bill of health and gave us a can of soft food, we then asked him how much the bill was and he said no charge. Made my day Read Less

I love this Vet! When I got my first, all mine, dog, I was determined to provide her with the best care, regardless the cost. After searching and investigating many vets, a friend referred me to Dr. Thompson. She had lost a puppy after four days due to heartworm, but emphasized how Dr. Thompson did everything he possibly could to help the pup, it was just too far along. I made an appointment for my dog that day. The staff is very friendly and helpful.      Someone always answers when I call. The staff is also very helpful in providing information over the phone and deciding if my dog needs to come in. They don't try to just take your money by having you make an appointment for something that can be easily resolved. They are HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY, which is so important. Now, Dr. Thompson is awesome. He has a way with my dog, he is very calm and gentle mannered; a true animal person. Dr. Thompson is also very direct and extremely thorough with his diagnoses and treatments. Quoting the previous comment, "He doesn't try to suggest unnecessary procedures. Prices are reasonable." I brought in my cat for an ear infection that was going on. The vet barely looked at her before jumping to the conclusion of ear mites. Gave her an antibiotic and sent us on our way. A week later it was getting worse, not better. I called them, they let me know there was nothing they could do until the 2 week antibiotic wore off. Another week went by, and the second I could, I brought her in again. It was now not only on her ears, but her eyes/nose/chin. He quickly looked at her again, gave her another antibiotic and took some samples. Let me know it would be another 10 days for any results. The next day she was looking close to death, I decided to bring her to another vet. Immediately they let me know it was Lupus. They took a blood sample to see the damage done to her organs, and we are currently waiting to see if she will be able to keep her ears or if they have to be removed. I called this vet, and they didn't even know what Lupus was. They are incompetent and jump to conclusions, this vet could of cost my cat her life. I do not recommend them. Read Less

I've had many dogs and have been to vets in OP, Shawnee, and Olathe. I've been with Dr. Thompson for over 10 years and he is a perfect fit for our family. He is a pet owner himself and understands animals. He doesn't try to suggest unnecessary procedures. Prices are reasonable. We've had to put old dogs down, and the office was very gentle and compassionate.Nothing flashy or fancy here- just solid veterinary care. Read Less

Dr. Bhodan is a very professional, highly competent veterinarian. He's been taking care of all of my animals for the past 23 years and will continue to do so as long as possible. The procedures he has performed have all gone without any complications. He gives me straight, uncolored information regarding my pets health, even if it's not the best of news. He'll give me solid advice which helps me make the best decision for my pet, even if it costs him hundreds of dollars in services which I could have easily been talked into while dealing with the emotions from letting go of an elderly pet. I trust him. And his staff is tops. No, you don't get a lot of plastic smiles and "Have a Nice Days" but you are treated courteously. If having gushing, contrived pleasantries shoveled to you in copious amounts is what is most important to you, maybe you should go somewhere else. If you want the best for your pet, go here.Read Less
