If you love your animal you won't take it here. I took my kitten I literally found in a dumpster in for a check up and they said he was in great health. Telling me to bring him back in for shots in a week. Well as of today not even a week later my kitten is dead because he was no where near being old enough for shots being 2-4 weeks old which they told me he was about 6. He was dehydrated which they failed to notice and even though I was constantly giving him kitten replacement milk and water to keep him hydrated, it wasn't enough being that what he really needed was his mothers milk. I have no good news about this place. Both times I have taken any of my cats to here I ended up taking them to another vet because they failed to provide the full care my cats needed. Not only is there a great Veterinarian here, but the staff are nice and caring! Thier prices are very reasonable and they make sure you know how to care for you pets. I recently boarded my two dog there and they did a great job caring for them. They never complained about me calling to check in on them and were up front about how they were doing. Dr. Chaloupka is great. My dog Kit was spayed at Oskaloosa because her previous (show) owner trusts them with all her dogs, and it was also several hundred dollars less expensive than the Lawrence vets. On top of that, the surgeon who did the spay did a beautiful job. My dog had no complications at all even though they discovered during surgery that she had pyometra, so the surgery must have been very skilled and done with utmost care. She also has no scar at all from the incision, so whoever sewed her up (not sure if it was the surgeon or a vet tech) did a beautiful job. The front office was very kind to me given that I was calling to check on her every hour or so, which was probably a hassle but I really couldn't help myself. While I was sitting waiting to drop off and then later to pick up my dog I watched the front office staff handle all kinds of clients - nervous ones, cheapskate whining ones, cheerful ones - and they were unfailingly polite and professional to everyone. I do not think I could have been as patient with the one who wanted everything to be free, but they seemed kind of used to her shenanigans and were nice anyway. I now take my dog to a vet closer to me here in town, but I was impressed with the office and the doctors and the surgeon who did her spay. I have the surgeon's name somewhere, if anyone wants it they can contact me by message or just ask the vet who did Kit Archer's surgery and which vet techs were on the surgical team. Impeccable work. This place is top notch in my opinion. The veterinarian, Shara, is wonderful. She is always open about everything going on with my animals and makes sure I understand how to help them at home. She never pressures us to get expensive or unnecessary procedures and is very up front about prices. This place is wonderful! Read Less

I love the Oskaloosa Animal Clinic!From Lawrence it is only about a 20 minute drive and it's so worth it. When I've taken my cat in here there's never a wait to see the vet, they don't charge office fees and their services and shots are super cheap. The office staff/vets are really nice and laid back too.If you live in the Lawrence area check them out! Read Less
