Both my kitties are now angels and I am so grateful to VCA for the care they provided. They provided clear information, spent countless hours answering my questions, and really empowered me to make the best choices I could with two sick kitties (diabetic and one with FIV/anemia). They were honest and upfront about the odds each visit, but also kind. I live nearly 30 minutes away (when traffic is good), but after testing out multiple vets I don’t see myself going anywhere else with my new kitty Clover. They truly treat you like family. Thank you so much! - Caitlin, Rascal, Indie, & Clover (who is very excited to meet you!) Read Less

Over priced but nice people. Took my dog in for vomiting & loose stools. They wanted to "hospitalize" with IV's, x-ray, etc. Cost was over $1,000 which I declined to do & asked just for x-ray. Young lady came back in with adjusted estimate of almost $400 as the x-ray had to be sent out to be read. I again declined & left paying almost $65 for office exam. As I said everyone (about 15 staff members at least) was very nice but the cost is prohibitive for the average person. I left in tears thinking I was having to make a choice over medical care or my pocketbook. Subsequently went to another vet. office by Kansas speedway (they perform ortho surgeries as well) my daughter had been too & they were great as well except they immediately rendered care!! Took 2 separate x-rays immediately as we feared she had blockage, gave her shot for vomiting & loose stools, pill medication & 6 cans of special dog food for upset stomach for under $300. Again, I want to say that both clinics were comparable in friendliness but instant plan of action, peace of mind & cost were most certainly obtained from the 2nd vets. office. Read Less

So far so good. I rescued an older boxer mix from GP. I liked everything I read about these Vets so decided to try them out. Rescues try to let you know what issues an animal may have, but really taking them to a Vet after adopting is very helpful. Dr. Starr was able to find some issues on first visit. They really gave him a great checkout. They also gave some good advice about separation anxiety, which is common with new rescues. They also did great when when my dog broke a toenail. It was pretty bad, they extracted it wrapped it up and had him back home in no time. The office is really nice. I'm always amazed at how clean it is. Plenty of staff so you don't have to wait long to get in/out. Everyone is super friendly. It's fantastic. Read Less

I have been here before when I moved into town and had a new stray kitten I had taken in. Now a couple years later, I took him in again for what seemed to be, an incredibly sickly kitty. Turns out, he was alright, aside from some major sneezy and upper respiratory infection. The techs were great, very friendly. The vet was also very kind, took interest in my sickly boy, and was fair. He told me straight out, it would go away on its own, that I didn't need to purchase anything, but offered suggestions for things that might clear it up quicker. I love walking out of a place not feeling like I was pressured to buy anything extra. I also really like that this place has separate cat/dog areas. It makes the intake area of the vet so much easier to not be toting in a cat, into a room full of dogs, or vise-versa. Definitely a go-to in the future. Read Less

My beagle/dachshund presented with IVDD and I needed to find a great doctor for her. From the moment I stepped into this clinic, we felt at home. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to get into a room. We see Dr. Starr who is wonderful with my dog and really takes the time to answer my questions and explain things to me. Sometimes vets give you that feeling that they're just trying to get in and get out, but not here. Even the vet techs are very comforting and gentle if they need to restrain your dog (and are pretty generous with treats!). My dog never feels nervous going in and feels comfortable while she's there. The one time I had to leave her there the day, she came prancing out with her tail wagging, happy as can be.When my dog was first diagnosed with IVDD, we took her to University of Missouri Veterinary Hospital because their reputation was amazing. However, Columbia is two hours away and I wanted a local doctor who graduated from there - and that's Dr. Starr! I have the upmost trust and respect for the staff here and will continue to bring my animals as long as I'm in the area. Read Less

I seldom do reviews, but I'm making an exception here. The Dr.'s and staff at Cherokee have been simply outstanding in their care of my odd-ball cat, Okay. Dr. Kontras and Dr. Stenstrom managed to pull my cat back from a condition that I was all but certain to be terminal. At the same time they were always clear about which diagnostics would likely not be cost effective and those that might be worth the effort and investment. All were caring and understood the surprisingly strong bond that can develop between pet and owner. They also went out of their way to fully explain procedures and test results. Thanks to their efforts Okay is back to lounging on my keyboard and distracting me from getting things done. Read Less

My family and I have used this clinic for more than 40 years! All of the doctors and staff are so very kind and caring. They offer many great services and never try to "push" anything on you. They make suggestions for care and give you information to help you make the best decisions for your pet and bank account. I highly recommend this clinic. Read Less

My first visit to Cherokee was an emergency appointment for my dog when the vet I was seeing wouldn't see her for an emergency appointment til the next morning, and 5 years later I'm still going to Cherokee. Last week I took my middle cat for a case of the sneezels and this morning they called to check up on him. At least 4 people I've recommended Cherokee to have taken their fur babies there and are now just as booked as I am. It's important to be as comfortable with your vet as you are with your PCP and in this family we are. Thank you for all you do for us.

Read Less
