I come from a small town and had a small town vet for 20 years before moving up to Kansas City. I was used to fair prices and personal interaction with our vet. My pup had an accident and needed to have a bandage changed 2x a week. After calling around for rates it was sounding like it was really going to start to add up. When I called them they gave me a quote that was half the cost of the others I had contacted. We see Dr. Godsey and I feel like we are getting the same care as we did back home. I recently had to put my Husky, Emma, to rest. This veterinarian hospital made every aspect of the process easy. Almost comforting (considering what my family was going through - losing a loved one). Dr. Bauer is absolutely the most professional Veterinarian I could have hoped for. She respected my family's wishes, while at the same time, telling us how it is (Considering Emma's best interest in mind) in a very respectable manner. She had been helping me with Emma for almost 2 years previous. Dr. Bauer was very empathetic (to me as a pet owner), but at the same time, knew what was best for my Emma. I can't thank Dr. Bauer enough for the help and kindness she has given my family. I can assure you that Dr. Bauer will respect your wishes, and do what is best for your pet/family member. tl;dr: vet is top-notch, staff less so; check what your pet is in for. First, the vets there are great. Responsive, listen to pet owners, and are good at what they do. Your animal is in good hands here. The reason for the low rating is something has changed with the front staff. It is a challenge to get their attention to do things like pick up pets or make appointments. The appointment I did have was in the computer wrong, and they almost declawed my cat during his neuter. Their estimate for services was off by $100. After the neuter, they didn't ask if I had any questions or explain what precautions I should take (and seemed confused when I asked); maybe they thought the piece of paper with bullet points on it was supposed to be enough explanation? They didn't mention any care instructions about the cat at pick-up. Had to ask for a full receipt of services. All in all, not what I had come to expect. We've been going here for years, and this change is fairly recent. Hopefully it gets straightened out, as the vets are good. *Do* check your pets appointments and services - they almost cut off my cat's fingers because they miskeyed something. Best veterinary experience I've ever had. I have 2 dachshunds,  with one of them having more issues than the other. The staff always seems to fit us in and makes us feel welcome. They were very compassionate to our animals and their owners. They took great care of my rabbit and my dog over many years and helped me through the loss of both of them at the end of their lives. I have relied on Dr. Radakovich and Dr. Immethun for 10 years, they have seen me through the loss of a dear little dog friend with kindness and expert care when I first moved to KC in 2005, and have given my current little guy expert care.  This is a wonderful veterinary practice.  They are not the most expensive, but should probably raise their prices.  I am constantly amazed by the care and concern exhibited by the doctors and their staff.  I never feel like a number, and they always remember my dog, or at least take the time to look at the file :).  I trust them to care for him when I need to go out of town and can't take him with me. Sweet people. Good doctors - the last time I visited, Dr. Immethun and I had a discussion about whether to continue vaccinating my now-old small dog.  He was against (!) but because Frodo loves the dog park, the doctor sensibly recommended vaccinations as long as we continue to go there.  How many vets would tell you to not spend $300 vaccinating your pet?  They care, and do the right thing.  You cannot do better for a vet. Dr Godsey always takes such good care of my dog and I. I recently brought my dog in regarding oral surgery, and Dr Godsey was so knowledgeable about what needed to be done. They were able to fit the surgery in quickly, and my dog was in and out in no time. I had some post-surgery questions, and I was always put in touch immediately with a vet to answer my concerns. Also, I was quoted an estimated cost for the surgery, and it ended up being cheaper than quoted! The office staff is also very friendly. I won't take my dog anywhere else! Read Less

I honestly believe these are the best vets anyone could find! They actually care about the animals they treat and really work to find solutions that also work for pet owners. I would give them more than 5 stars if possible. I seriously can't say enough about how great they all are and am so fortunate to have found them! I have been taking my dogs here for nearly 10 years. When I lost one of my dogs to heart failure at a local vet emergency hospital on the weekend, Monday morning Dr. Immethun called to express his sympathy and I got a card a few days later from their office. I chose Marketplace Animal Hospital because of the proximity of where I moved. I'm so glad I went there! They are very friendly and did their best to make my cat feel at ease. (She is a real scaredy cat!) Getting her shots is a very traumatic thing for my cat and they helped make it go as smooth as possible. I loved the doctor who examined my pet-Dr. J. We moved here 15 years ago and found Marketplace because it was close to the house. We've stayed with them through 4 dogs, for their healthcare, boarding, and end of life care for 2. My mother in-law passed away just as our 14 year old Weimeraner/Dachshund mix was very ill with kidney failure. Initially told there was no kennel space, I called back and spoke with Dr. R, who remembered our dog's situation, and he said ""we have room for Schwartz."" I prayed the whole time we were out of town that he would make it through the week, and he did, thanks to the care given by the whole staff. When he wasn't eating, they even ordered pizza to see if that would interest him! Our second dog suddenly developed a cough, which turned out to be a tumor pressing on his esophogus. Dr. I took it on himself to consult with a specialist so we could have all the options explained clearly. When we took him in on a Monday to be put to sleep, I fell apart and wasn't ready. He very patiently gave us a few more pills to get through the week, and by Friday I was ready to say goodbye to my boy Donald. Both times we received a condolence card signed by everyone on staff. I recently had to put my precious cat to sleep and was very upset to lose my friend. Dr. Jerry Immethun was so kind and respectful to me and was a great comfort at such a sad time for me. Not only the doctors are kind and respectful - they have a wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable staff who also went out of the way to be so so kind and sympathetic. They sent me a beautiful condolence card that was signed by EVERYONE at the hospital.
