I have been going here since we got our dog Cookie. We love this clinic! For most services, you don't need an appointment, they have flexible hours, and several options for treating fleas and ticks. Not only is Cookie's doc wonderful, but all of them are great! I've had nothing but positive experiences over the past 5 to 6 years, and I've referred my sister to them! Our dog is family, so the choice for his care is important! I would highly recommend Stanley Vet! Read Less

I had a great experience with Stanley Vet, taking my puppy there for the first time. The veterinarian and staff spent a lot of time with us making sure she was healthy and answering my questions. Everyone was very friendly! I also like that they have an app for scheduling appointments and providing reminders about monthly medications. This is a great Vet practice! Read Less

I just adopted a puppy and wanted to find a Vet to establish a relationship with for the care and treatment of my dog, and the Stanley Veterinary Clinic was recommended to me by friends and family. I went there and found the experience to be great. The staff was friendly and very helpful in explaining a variety of things, such as shots and grooming recommendations. They answered every one of the questions my girlfriend and I had about our dog. I found the whole experience enjoyable and informative. Read Less

We have used Stanley Vet for over 16 years. From the time our little poodle was 10 weeks old, weighing 2 lbs., we saw Dr. Claussen. She has always been wonderful, as has the entire staff. This past week we made the heart wrenching decision to say goodbye to our little Sandy. From the moment we walked in for the appointment, the staff was so compassionate and caring. Circumstances brought our family to Stanley Vet as we had decided we needed to put our doggy down. Stanley vet employee(can’t remember her name)was SO compassionate and loving as Louie was put down to rest. And to top it off, the nurse asked if she could send us a paw print. We got 5 clay paw prints (one for each of our family members!). WE cannot express how grateful we are for their compassionate care and acts of kindness, even when we hadn’t gone to them for routine veterinary care. Read Less

We are new to town, so we had not established ourselves with a veterinarian when our dog developed pancreatitis. Stanley Veterinary Clinic was recommended by the local kennel and they got our dog in immediately. They were kind and gentle with him, and great communicators about testing and treatment. Our veterinarian, Dr. Pelfrey, was especially good about explaining what he saw on the x-ray and was truly interested in our understanding our dog's care. Read Less

They gave my dog pro heart injection on March and April, which the inject SHOULD NOT be used more frequently than 6 months. I guess the vet, the assistant and no one has really checked my dog’s record before give her the injection!! I can’t believe that they want me to forgive them for offering me a refund! I don’t need it! I want my dog to stay healthy so she can stay with me for ten more years!!! Omg!!! An extra injection means nothing to this vet! It means a lot to my dog!! Any empathy???!!!! Rude, inconsiderate, back-stabbing. Just due to convenience of location, we had previously brought several of our pets to this location for portions of their care. Over 30+ years we had 3 dogs that lived long, happy lives and eventually they each passed away due to old age. Another one of our dogs moved away with a family member who moved out of state. My parents were then left without any dogs. After several years, they finally decided to adopt a new dog from a shelter. When asked to serve as a reference, this impersonal vet clinic almost had their adoption denied because they stated they were "inconsistent" with their care. This could not be further from the truth. We will definitely choose NOT to return with any of our beloved pets. The people who work at this vet clinic failed to develop a relationship with our family/pets and know the details about our pets passing or moving away; THEY are the ones who are "inconsistent" with their care. I have taken my dogs (2 Yorkies) to this clinic for about 5 years. I've never had any issues and have always gotten in quickly when needed, been able to take them after hours when I'm off work, and its conveniently located. Vets have always been very helpful and no complaints. However- we thought we'd start taking our grooming business to them as well to have it all in one place. HUGE mistake- we got a $194.00 bill for grooming 2 Yorkies- one is 8 pounds, one is 12 pounds. $1...94!!!!!!! When I looked at the bill, they gave our dogs each a flu shot that we did not ask for - and each flu shot was $40. My husband had dropped the dogs off that morning and was asked if we wanted to do it- and when he asked why they would need one- the groomer responded "we will take care of it" - no response to his question- NO approval from my husband. If he had been told that it was $40 apiece for a flu shot then we would have taken our dogs back to our old grooming place that doesn't require that. That isn't the worst of it- when I called to talk to the staff about it- the receptionist said my husband had consented to it, which he clearly did not. At that point, I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was not one available and that they'd take down my number. I also shared that if we are going to get charged $80 unexpectedly, we will no longer take our dogs there- and the receptionist happily replied "Okay!"- which is a very disrespectful response to someone who has given you five years of business. This was all on Tuesday. I've called every day since asking to speak to a manager- no one has been able to talk to me- yesterday I was told I'd get another call back- they took down my number, and still no response. Its really sad that they would treat someone who has been a loyal customer to them for so long this way. We have been taking our pets to Stanley for several years. This January I took in my dog Rugby who was having long term health issues and had taken a term for the worst. They were able to squeeze us in after 1800 with no appointment. The agreed upon decision was made that he needed to be put down. Even though we were right at the time for closing the vet and the assistants had no issue staying late so we could take care of our dog. They knew I wanted to take care of it that night and they were willing to stay past business hours so that my dog and I did not have to suffer any longer. This meant staying even after I had left to take care of his remains. They did so with compassion and a smile. Truly good people work at this facility. Read Less

We've gone to Stanley Vet since our dog what a puppy and have had great experiences the whole time, but we saw Dr. Claussen for the first time this morning. Our dog is very skittish and scared to death of the vet. Dr. Claussen went above and beyond to make her feel at ease. She went out of her way to try to calm our dogs nerves and make her feel comfortable. Because our pup gets so anxious at the vet it almost makes me anxious and upset, not today, it was a great experience. Read Less

I'm excited to try the options Dr Claussen recommended as we've seen two doctors (other clinics) in the past for this issue. She spent so much time with us and made sure I understood everything! why did i give only 1 star for overall rating and 5 stars for the other categories?? here is why: the vet clinic itself is wonderful. they take great care of the animals health care, etc.. my mother takes her dogs to the vet clinic for health care and also the grooming services that they provide. the groomer is not associated with Stanley Vet Clinic except that they do work at that location. apparently you have to have your dog on a schedule to get cleaned every 2 weeks. my mother missed one of the appointments recently because my father passed away. the groomer charged my mother for missing an appt.. (apparently, a family member passing away is not a good enough reason to miss your dog's grooming appt.) my mother told the groomer that she would NEVER return there and that she would take her business elsewhere. i do not know the name of the groomer except it is a woman. my friendly advice to ALL who read my review is this: great place for your dog's health care needs to be taken care of. HORRIBLE, BAD, BAD, BAD place to take your dog for grooming. as far as the groomer is concerned, (BUYER BEWARE!!!) this review is dated: 3/25/17. Read Less

We brought our 12 year old kitty in for the first time last week. She is cage aggressive and can be quite fractious outside of her home. Dr. Claussen and Jill (technician) were extremely patient and kind! The Dr. also went out of her way to email blood work results to me over the weekend! They also spent a great deal of time with me answering questions. The front desk was equally nice and friendly! I was a bit nervous bringing my cat to a mixed practice instead of feline exclusive but I was very pleased. I will recommend this practice and especially Dr. Claussen to ALL pet parents!!! Read Less

Dr. Kerling needs to work on his bedside manner and communication skills. I only went to Stanley because I wanted to have laser declaw done for my adult cats that I had adopted. It was not only because I want to be able to have nice things that don't get scratched to death, but because there are important small children in my life that I don't want to be scratching posts. I chose to go outside of my regular vet who had said they had no problem doing it traditionally, for the laser declaw, because my regular vet recommended it so that my cats could have the least traumatic experience possible. I did not have a good experience with this goal. The front desk allowed me to make an appointment for the surgery without a consult because my cats were up to date on their vaccinations and physicals. Then they called me to come in for a consult, which I happily obliged too, because apparently the vet they were scheduled with for surgery has qualms about declawing adult cats. I could tell from the moment Dr. Kerling entered the room that he had made up his mind about what was going to happen-that he was going to refuse to do the declaw procedure, and he was very condescending towards me. I could tell he was even making the assistant in the room felt totally awkward, but to her credit she was trying hard to be very nice and professional anyway. Maybe you should have scheduled me for a consult with one of the vets who was likely to perform the procedure. I am a dentist myself and I know that sometimes you have to tell people news they don't want to hear . I am very accepting of advice from a professional if they have a compelling rationale for their advice. But Dr. Kerling was pretty much just agitated and condescending towards me and seemed to think I was a horrible person for wanting to have my cats declawed. After he made me feel like a terrible person, he refused to do the procedure himself. But then he turned around and said one of the other vets at the office would probably be willing to do it. I would never tell any of my patients in my dental practice that some thing was so terrible that I would refuse to perform the treatment, and then, "Oh by the way my partner would probably do it for you." I cried all the way home. By the way I went to Blue Springs Animal Hospital for a second opinion and wound up having the laser declaw done there. Both of my cats are doing great with zero complications. If you are looking to get your cats declawed, I would avoid this place and go to Blue Springs Animal Hospital instead.Read Less

We had the saddest moment for our family to make that choice for our 14 yr old family member to be put to rest. She'd been one healthy dog with only 1 teeth cleaning and mouth ulcer removal, checkups and annual visits up to this point. Dr. Powers and his assistant couldn't have made it any better for us. We were not pushed into the choice but once made they were nothing but kind and caring for our grieving family. I think very highly of this veterinary clinic and when we get another dog, we'll be back. Read Less

I thought the doctor was a total jerk. He had the worst attitude and was very condescending. Even my 7 year old said the guy was a jerk when we left. Would NOT recommend to anyone!!!!

Just switched to the Stanley Vet Clinic from another local vet. Can't say enough about the staff, the Doctor we saw and his assistant (Maddy's a rock star). We have one 60 lb dog and one almost 100lbs and not every vet is comfortable and knows how to handle the big guys. These guys are total pros, understand large breeds and turned some really negative stressful experiences at our prior vet into something really positive. They will be our vets for a very long time. If you need a new doc for your dogs, you need to go see these guys. Read Less

We at Stanley Veterinary Clinic strive to provde your pet with the best care possible. In all fairness to the clinic, I wanted to state that this incident occurred in August of 2013, and I am concerned that ths is the first time we have been made aware of any problems. You brought your pet to us in May of 2013 and then again in August of 2013. You followed all of our recommended treatments. After the specialty clinic conducted the scan, and we received a report, you had a conversation with the veterinarian at our clinic and then indicated to us that you would need to speak to your wife to determine what you would like to do. You never contacted us again. Again, I express concern that this occurred in August of 2013, and you are just now expressing displeasure. I wish you would have contacted us sooner so that we could have tried to address your concerns and give you a more positive experience. Read Less

Took my dog in there several times about him not eating or vomiting shortly after he did eat. Was told that it was nothing, he was eating to fast, so on. On the last visit they finally did a x-ray and there was a mass in his stomach. They sent me to another local vet partner to get a cat-scan. They were supposed to call me back after they got the results. Hours go by and no call. I keep calling to try and find out what was found and keep being told that the vet will call me soon. On my last call to them (Almost 7p.m. the cat-scan was performed at 11a.m.) I get demand to speak to the vet. After waiting nearly 5 minutes on hold he gets on the phone and wont really explain anything to me except they want to do exploratory surgery. After all this hassle and worry I call a friend that is in the rescue groups and explain to her what went on. Long short the vet/surgeon from the rescue group calls me that night on his way home from dinner, arranges to see my dog the next day. Sadly it was all to late, we lost him to the cancer that had closed his esophageal passage off. Do not trust this place! If they had been more serious about diagnosing my dog he might still be with us today. Read Less

My dogs love their visits and know the "turns" and when we're in the parking lot. Working with our Rescued Animals (Missouri German Shepherd Rescue & Kansas City Doberman Rescue), the team has coordinated with our members for special services to ensure our "special" dogs obtain the best care! When he got his shots, neutered, checkups, Stanley Vet always followed through with a phone call to ask how Brady was feeling. He recently was neutered and I couldn't feel more comfortable with the staff there. I dealt with Dr Claussen and also Dr. Baldridge, they are both wonderful. My boyfriend and I drive an hour from Kansas City just to go here. :) Read Less

Do not go here. My puppy had signs of kennel cough from the first appointment that they ignored, even after I told them about them. They acted like it was nothing... then when symptoms got worse I had to bring him in again and pay another office visit fee for him to be seen and treated for kennel cough. Upon the first visit, they kept reading off things from his chart that were incorrect. They kept trying to say I had got him from Pet Land after I repeatedly told them I didn't. They seemed very unorganized. My breeder had purchased the puppy's puppy shots and began the first round. I was to continue the next 3 rounds, but was very nervous and asked the vet to walk me through administering my first one. Instead, he told me that I shouldn't use that and should use theirs instead... They threw away the injections I already had and I had to pay them for their injections. I walked out of my first visit with a $150 bill. When I called to get an idea of how much it would cost to go to them for his first visit, they made it sound like it would be much less. At that first visit, they scheduled me for my next appointment for puppy shots. (They are supposed to be administered exactly every 3 weeks) It wasn't until a day after 3 weeks from that first appointment that I realized they had actually scheduled me 4 weeks later. They were not very flexible in rescheduling. The receptionist acted like it was no big deal and he could just come at the scheduled time that was 4 weeks later. (which is wrong... it is a big deal)! She didn't even apologize for the mistake!I don't want to switch brands of puppy shots again, so I will continue there until the shots are finished, but then I'm switching as soon as possible. This has just been ridiculous. I have seen other people in the vets office who seem irritated as the nurses tell them that they're not really sure what's wrong with their dog, but here are some meds anyways. They seem so incompetent. Additionally, I had brought in some Frontline that was old from my past dogs... they told me it was too old and I should just throw it away and buy meds from them... another vet told me it was perfectly fine to use... too bad that was after I had already thrown it away. I just feel like they are trying to get as much money out of me as they can. They're not here to care about me or my puppy, they're just here for the money. Read Less

Stanley Vet, in particular, Dr. Powell performed an unnecessary surgery on my cat. What he saw in the x-ray was a ""mass"" in her stomach that wasn't there when he performed exploratory surgery. He also removed a polyp from her ear that resulted in partial facial paralysis. What he did NOT see was an enlarged heart, which another vet noticed immediately on the same set of x-rays. The surgery caused her to fill up with fluids and die 72 hours later. If your love your pet, do not take it to this vet. To add insult to injury when I asked the owner for a refund of all vet bills associated with her ear and the trip to another vet he had the nerve to write ""Good Will Gesture"" on the check. I took my dog in for boarding while I was on vacation. I came back to a dog with 3 different infections. He was not treated while I was away, not a phone call to me about him or mention a word to me when I picked up my dog.I took him to a different vet and to get him treated. I called Stanley to try and talk to a Dr. I was told he would call me back. Two weeks later still haven't heard a thing. It wasn't until I mention legal action did I get a call. The Dr. mentioned he spoke to the new vet. I checked and he never placed the call to the new Vet. So now a Dr. is out right lying to me. In the past they were so good to our dog, but it all must of been a facade.I don't know what changed but I do not trust them at all. The staff was always very nice to us. I just have the issues with the Dr.'s there. They treated our dog for five years and never solved his issue but the new vet did in a 10 minture exam. So all they managed was to drain my bank account trying to solve a simple issue and give us a dog back from their boarding with three different types of infections and end everything with a child like lie. We started using Stanley Veterinary years ago when our original Vet closed his practice. We had an 11 year old Golden Retriever at the time. they always took great care of him and he actually liked going there. When he got to the age of 14 he started having medical problems and needed to have some tumors removed. we happened to be out of town one time and the Dr. called us every day sometimes more than once to keep us informed of his condition. That was comforting to my wife and 2 young children. when the time came to make the decision to put him down the Doctor couldn't have been better. He careful explained that we could do more surgery and he might live another 6 months to a year, but he would be pretty much drugged up and not very mobile. We decided to put him down and I don't regret doing it. As soon as we picked our new puppy out from the litter I called over to Stanley and told them we would be bringing him home in 2 weeks, when can they meet him! Set up his first visit before he got home. We love our Vet and our Vet loves our dog! that sums it up perfectly. Read Less

I recently visited Stanley Vet and was very happy with my first visit. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Dr came out and discussed things with my new puppy. They even sent him home with his own toy and an imformational video. He seemed very comfortable with the whole exp.. It cost less then my other vet and seemed cleaner too. I recently have had a very BAD experience with my other vet so I am hoping this will not happen here. Just my first visit so I will see. Over 30+ years we had 3 dogs that lived long, happy lives and eventually they each passed away due to old age. Another one of our dogs moved away with a family member who moved out of state. My parents were then left without any dogs. After several years, they finally decided to adopt a new dog from a shelter. When asked to serve as a reference, this impersonal vet clinic almost had their adoption denied because they stated they were "inconsistent" with their care. This could not be further from the truth. We will definitely choose NOT to return with any of our beloved pets. The people who work at this vet clinic failed to develop a relationship with our family/pets and know the details about our pets passing or moving away; THEY are the ones who are "inconsistent" with their care. I've never had any issues and have always gotten in quickly when needed, been able to take them after hours when I'm off work, and its conveniently located. Vets have always been very helpful and no complaints. However- we thought we'd start taking our grooming business to them as well to have it all in one place. HUGE mistake- we got a $194.00 bill for grooming 2 Yorkies- one is 8 pounds, one is 12 pounds. $1...94!!!!!!! When I looked at the bill, they gave our dogs each a flu shot that we did not ask for - and each flu shot was $40. My husband had dropped the dogs off that morning and was asked if we wanted to do it- and when he asked why they would need one- the groomer responded "we will take care of it" - no response to his question- NO approval from my husband. If he had been told that it was $40 apiece for a flu shot then we would have taken our dogs back to our old grooming place that doesn't require that. That isn't the worst of it- when I called to talk to the staff about it- the receptionist said my husband had consented to it, which he clearly did not. At that point, I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was not one available and that they'd take down my number. I also shared that if we are going to get charged $80 unexpectedly, we will no longer take our dogs there- and the receptionist happily replied "Okay!"- which is a very disrespectful response to someone who has given you five years of business. This was all on Tuesday. I've called every day since asking to speak to a manager- no one has been able to talk to me- yesterday I was told I'd get another call back- they took down my number, and still no response. Its really sad that they would treat someone who has been a loyal customer to them for so long this way. We have been taking our pets to Stanley for several years. This January I took in my dog Rugby who was having long term health issues and had taken a term for the worst. They were able to squeeze us in after 1800 with no appointment. The agreed upon decision was made that he needed to be put down. Even though we were right at the time for closing the vet and the assistants had no issue staying late so we could take care of our dog. They knew I wanted to take care of it that night and they were willing to stay past business hours so that my dog and I did not have to suffer any longer. This meant staying even after I had left to take care of his remains. They did so with compassion and a smile. Truly good people work at this facility. Read Less

She went out of her way to try to calm our dogs nerves and make her feel comfortable. why did i give only 1 star for overall rating and 5 stars for the other categories?? here is why: the vet clinic itself is wonderful. they take great care of the animals health care, etc.. my mother takes her dogs to the vet clinic for health care and also the grooming services that they provide. the groomer is not associated with Stanley Vet Clinic except that they do work at that location. apparently you have to have your dog on a schedule to get cleaned every 2 weeks. my mother missed one of the appointments recently because my father passed away. the groomer charged my mother for missing an appt.. (apparently, a family member passing away is not a good enough reason to miss your dog's grooming appt.) my mother told the groomer that she would NEVER return there and that she would take her business elsewhere. i do not know the name of the groomer except it is a woman. my friendly advice to ALL who read my review is this: great place for your dog's health care needs to be taken care of. HORRIBLE, BAD, BAD, BAD place to take your dog for grooming. as far as the groomer is concerned, (BUYER BEWARE!!!) this review is dated: 3/25/17. Read Less

We brought our 12 year old kitty in for the first time last week. She is cage aggressive and can be quite fractious outside of her home. Dr. Claussen and Jill (technician) were extremely patient and kind! The Dr. also went out of her way to email blood work results to me over the weekend! They also spent a great deal of time with me answering questions. The front desk was equally nice and friendly! I was a bit nervous bringing my cat to a mixed practice instead of feline exclusive but I was very pleased. I will recommend this practice and especially Dr. Claussen to ALL pet parents!!! Read Less

Dr. Kerling needs to work on his bedside manner and communication skills. I only went to Stanley because I wanted to have laser declaw done for my adult cats that I had adopted. It was not only because I want to be able to have nice things that don't get scratched to death, but because there are important small children in my life that I don't want to be scratching posts. I chose to go outside of my regular vet who had said they had no problem doing it traditionally, for the laser declaw, because my regular vet recommended it so that my cats could have the least traumatic experience possible. I did not have a good experience with this goal. The front desk allowed me to make an appointment for the surgery without a consult because my cats were up to date on their vaccinations and physicals. Then they called me to come in for a consult, which I happily obliged too, because apparently the vet they were scheduled with for surgery has qualms about declawing adult cats. I could tell from the moment Dr. Kerling entered the room that he had made up his mind about what was going to happen-that he was going to refuse to do the declaw procedure, and he was very condescending towards me. I could tell he was even making the assistant in the room felt totally awkward, but to her credit she was trying hard to be very nice and professional anyway. Maybe you should have scheduled me for a consult with one of the vets who was likely to perform the procedure. I am a dentist myself and I know that sometimes you have to tell people news they don't want to hear . I am very accepting of advice from a professional if they have a compelling rationale for their advice. But Dr. Kerling was pretty much just agitated and condescending towards me and seemed to think I was a horrible person for wanting to have my cats declawed. After he made me feel like a terrible person, he refused to do the procedure himself. But then he turned around and said one of the other vets at the office would probably be willing to do it. I would never tell any of my patients in my dental practice that some thing was so terrible that I would refuse to perform the treatment, and then, "Oh by the way my partner would probably do it for you." I cried all the way home. By the way I went to Blue Springs Animal Hospital for a second opinion and wound up having the laser declaw done there. Both of my cats are doing great with zero complications. If you are looking to get your cats declawed, I would avoid this place and go to Blue Springs Animal Hospital instead.Read Less

We were not pushed into the choice but once made they were nothing but kind and caring for our grieving family. Just switched to the Stanley Vet Clinic from another local vet. Can't say enough about the staff, the Doctor we saw and his assistant (Maddy's a rock star). We have one 60 lb dog and one almost 100lbs and not every vet is comfortable and knows how to handle the big guys. These guys are total pros, understand large breeds and turned some really negative stressful experiences at our prior vet into something really positive. They will be our vets for a very long time. If you need a new doc for your dogs, you need to go see these guys. Read Less

In all fairness to the clinic, I wanted to state that this incident occurred in August of 2013, and I am concerned that ths is the first time we have been made aware of any problems. You brought your pet to us in May of 2013 and then again in August of 2013. You followed all of our recommended treatments. After the specialty clinic conducted the scan, and we received a report, you had a conversation with the veterinarian at our clinic and then indicated to us that you would need to speak to your wife to determine what you would like to do. You never contacted us again. Again, I express concern that this occurred in August of 2013, and you are just now expressing displeasure. I wish you would have contacted us sooner so that we could have tried to address your concerns and give you a more positive experience. Read Less

Took my dog in there several times about him not eating or vomiting shortly after he did eat. Was told that it was nothing, he was eating to fast, so on. On the last visit they finally did a x-ray and there was a mass in his stomach. They sent me to another local vet partner to get a cat-scan. They were supposed to call me back after they got the results. Hours go by and no call. I keep calling to try and find out what was found and keep being told that the vet will call me soon. On my last call to them (Almost 7p.m. the cat-scan was performed at 11a.m.) I get demand to speak to the vet. After waiting nearly 5 minutes on hold he gets on the phone and wont really explain anything to me except they want to do exploratory surgery. After all this hassle and worry I call a friend that is in the rescue groups and explain to her what went on. Long short the vet/surgeon from the rescue group calls me that night on his way home from dinner, arranges to see my dog the next day. Sadly it was all to late, we lost him to the cancer that had closed his esophageal passage off. Do not trust this place! If they had been more serious about diagnosing my dog he might still be with us today. Read Less

My dogs love their visits and know the "turns" and when we're in the parking lot. When he got his shots, neutered, checkups, Stanley Vet always followed through with a phone call to ask how Brady was feeling. He recently was neutered and I couldn't feel more comfortable with the staff there. I dealt with Dr Claussen and also Dr. Baldridge, they are both wonderful. Do not go here. My puppy had signs of kennel cough from the first appointment that they ignored, even after I told them about them. They acted like it was nothing... then when symptoms got worse I had to bring him in again and pay another office visit fee for him to be seen and treated for kennel cough. Upon the first visit, they kept reading off things from his chart that were incorrect. They kept trying to say I had got him from Pet Land after I repeatedly told them I didn't. They seemed very unorganized. My breeder had purchased the puppy's puppy shots and began the first round. I was to continue the next 3 rounds, but was very nervous and asked the vet to walk me through administering my first one. Instead, he told me that I shouldn't use that and should use theirs instead... They threw away the injections I already had and I had to pay them for their injections. I walked out of my first visit with a $150 bill. When I called to get an idea of how much it would cost to go to them for his first visit, they made it sound like it would be much less. At that first visit, they scheduled me for my next appointment for puppy shots. (They are supposed to be administered exactly every 3 weeks) It wasn't until a day after 3 weeks from that first appointment that I realized they had actually scheduled me 4 weeks later. They were not very flexible in rescheduling. The receptionist acted like it was no big deal and he could just come at the scheduled time that was 4 weeks later. (which is wrong... it is a big deal)! She didn't even apologize for the mistake!I don't want to switch brands of puppy shots again, so I will continue there until the shots are finished, but then I'm switching as soon as possible. This has just been ridiculous. I have seen other people in the vets office who seem irritated as the nurses tell them that they're not really sure what's wrong with their dog, but here are some meds anyways. They seem so incompetent. Additionally, I had brought in some Frontline that was old from my past dogs... they told me it was too old and I should just throw it away and buy meds from them... another vet told me it was perfectly fine to use... too bad that was after I had already thrown it away. I just feel like they are trying to get as much money out of me as they can. They're not here to care about me or my puppy, they're just here for the money. Read Less

Stanley Vet, in particular, Dr. Powell performed an unnecessary surgery on my cat. What he saw in the x-ray was a ""mass"" in her stomach that wasn't there when he performed exploratory surgery. He also removed a polyp from her ear that resulted in partial facial paralysis. What he did NOT see was an enlarged heart, which another vet noticed immediately on the same set of x-rays. The surgery caused her to fill up with fluids and die 72 hours later. If your love your pet, do not take it to this vet. To add insult to injury when I asked the owner for a refund of all vet bills associated with her ear and the trip to another vet he had the nerve to write ""Good Will Gesture"" on the check. This vet killed one of my best friends... don't let him kill yours Read Less

I took my dog in for boarding while I was on vacation. I came back to a dog with 3 different infections. He was not treated while I was away, not a phone call to me about him or mention a word to me when I picked up my dog.I took him to a different vet and to get him treated. I called Stanley to try and talk to a Dr. I was told he would call me back. Two weeks later still haven't heard a thing. It wasn't until I mention legal action did I get a call. The Dr. mentioned he spoke to the new vet. I checked and he never placed the call to the new Vet. So now a Dr. is out right lying to me. In the past they were so good to our dog, but it all must of been a facade.I don't know what changed but I do not trust them at all. The staff was always very nice to us. I just have the issues with the Dr.'s there. They treated our dog for five years and never solved his issue but the new vet did in a 10 minture exam. So all they managed was to drain my bank account trying to solve a simple issue and give us a dog back from their boarding with three different types of infections and end everything with a child like lie. We started using Stanley Veterinary years ago when our original Vet closed his practice. We had an 11 year old Golden Retriever at the time. they always took great care of him and he actually liked going there. When he got to the age of 14 he started having medical problems and needed to have some tumors removed. we happened to be out of town one time and the Dr. called us every day sometimes more than once to keep us informed of his condition. That was comforting to my wife and 2 young children. when the time came to make the decision to put him down the Doctor couldn't have been better. He careful explained that we could do more surgery and he might live another 6 months to a year, but he would be pretty much drugged up and not very mobile. We decided to put him down and I don't regret doing it. As soon as we picked our new puppy out from the litter I called over to Stanley and told them we would be bringing him home in 2 weeks, when can they meet him! Set up his first visit before he got home. We love our Vet and our Vet loves our dog! that sums it up perfectly. Read Less

I recently visited Stanley Vet and was very happy with my first visit. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Dr came out and discussed things with my new puppy. They even sent him home with his own toy and an imformational video. He seemed very comfortable with the whole exp.. It cost less then my other vet and seemed cleaner too. I recently have had a very BAD experience with my other vet so I am hoping this will not happen here. Just my first visit so I will see.
