Smith Veterinary Clinic

Tonganoxie, Kansas
General Info
Smith Veterinary Clinic is a trustworthy and caring alternative for the families of Tonganoxie. Pet owners in Tonganoxie rely on Smith Veterinary Clinic to provide care that combines animal behavior cues with the seasonal and household factors familiar to any Kansas pet owner. Initial worries like increased scratching, reduced playfulness, food refusal, stiff joints, or inter-pet household friction usually trigger the initial consultation. A comprehensive examination involves assessing weight, mouth (teeth), joints (range of motion), lungs (auscultation), heart rhythms, as well as skin and coat. The behavior aspect is also reviewed. Veterinarians compare the scores to baseline data, which helps them determine when and what type of diagnostic tests are needed, how the diet should be changed, and when another examination is necessary. Smith Veterinary Clinic provides several programs and services, such as the vaccination program, fecal examination, blood diagnostics, dietary consultation, dental treatment, chronic illness management and seasonal healthcare modification. Changes in weather, prepping for daycare routines, and milestones for senior dogs recovering from surgeries all dictate appointments. Each plan evolves through the home’s structure and nature triggers to ensure families get support in their real-life setups. After each visit, owners receive the notes and recommendations in the app (plus a few extras like tips and reminders to log things like food mood or motion if desired). Pet owners supporting several animals or senior pets can utilize staggered check-ins with ongoing home follow-ups and mobile adjustments. Smith Veterinary Clinic allows Tonganoxie and Kansas pet owners to take the earliest steps and maintain health-targeting routines that fit everyday life realities. Popular services to expect at the facility include diagnostics, anesthesiology, preventive medicine, grooming, nutritional counseling, prescription medications, spay/neuter, dermatology and in-house pharmacy and bloodwork. Smith Veterinary Clinic ensures that pet owners feel confident in the care provided by maintaining open communication and high standards. The team strives to grow and make a difference for pets in Tonganoxie and the entire United States as a whole.

I have been using Smith veterinary clinic for a very long time. Dr. Smith took care of our horses and dogs. after several years one of our horses collicked. WE took him to see dr. Smith she treated him and we took him home. The next day he was still having problems. After trailing him to clinic again, Dr.Smith said he was fine as he was not showing much pain. After getting him home he was in terrible shape. He was rushed to K-St Our horses ended up having to be put down because he was diagnosed too late. Dr. Smith said that he wasn't in enough pain, I lost my daughter's best friend, her horse that day. We were shocked! It was a very sad day. I have continued to go to dr. Smith for our dogs .I have spent an enormous amount of money and trusted her, Ive had some hard times and had a problem with my dog. I called her up to see if she would treat her and take payments, however she called back and said she no longer takes payments but she will take a credit card.if I had a credit card I would pay with a credit card. I just don't think that I will ever go back to her again how can she not have any compassion. Read Less

Dr. Smith and her staff have been taking care of our dogs for several years. Everyone in the office is friendly and care very much for their four-legged patients. We had a golden retriever who developed a seizure disorder. Dr. Smith found a study being done at a larger animal hospital in the area, treating seizures in dogs with medication developed for humans. This was our dogs best bet at getting cutting edge treatment and medication all at no cost to us. The treatment helped reduce his seizures, giving us more time with him while maintaining his quality of life. Dr. Smith also successfully removed a fatty tumor from under the hip muscles of another one of our dogs. She patiently and compassionately answered all of our questions and addressed all of our concerns. The Dr. called to check on our dog several times once we got her home and provided excellent follow-up care. Finally, we appreciate the office's no-pressure approach to selling preventative medication. With on-line availability, these types of medications are easily obtained and relatively inexpensive to buy.Read Less

I went to this vet office because I was referred by a friend... not sure why I was referred because there was not one moment that made me want to return. When I walked in with my dog I sat in the waiting room for a good 5min before i seen an employee... once she seen me she didn't say a word.. when it was my dogs turn to be seen the didn't call him by name or me we went to a room where there was a dog that was in a kennel waiting to be picked up that kept barking. the room we were in didnt even have a door so i had to hold the leash the entire time. I had my dogs annual shots given there and had him checked for heartworms and parasites they did not offer me any prevention for heartworm medicine, they didnt say anything about him being overweight, they didnt offer any flea and tick repellant and also when i was checking out i was giving a paper with all the charges of what was done and i glanced waiting to hear what they had to say and for them to tell me how much it was and she didnt say anything she just looked at me and looked at my piece of paper again and said o i guess this is what i owe... and she said o yep.... very disappointed in this vet my dog also did not receive one treat while we were there which i found very odd compared to previous vet offices i have been to!!!
