I had a very sick dog. Dr. Halstead and staff went out of their way to help. Dr. even came in on off hours on SUNDAY to address an emerging issue. She is very caring, as is all of the staff. I have taken my dog to Burlingame Road Animal Hospital for 10 years and my cat for over three years. Both regularly see Dr. Wacker and if she is not available they see one of the other vets. All the vets are excellent and very caring about my pets. The staff greet you with a smile, are great at interacting with my pets. All of the staff are very loving and caring with my pets and give them special attention. Both of my pets are groomed a minimum of once a month by the groomer who works at the clinic and she does an excellent job too!! My cat has very long fur and it is wonderful to have a groomer who is able to bathe cats and make her fluffy and lovely and help keep her from matting. My dog has annual dentals done. Both pets are monitored each visit on their weight and if they are due any needed vaccinations. If my pets have a health issue requiring them to be seen right away I have never had a problem getting an appointment that day. My pets look forward to going to the animal hospital and I believe it is because of the loving care they receive. I would recommend Burlingame Road Animal Hospital to everyone! It is not located near my home BUT the love and great care my pets receive makes it worth the drive. I trust all the vets and all the staff with my pets. Read Less

I was taken aback when I had the choice of having the tumor biopsy done or not. Why was surgery done in the first place? Why would a suspicious lump be removed and not sent off for biopsy as part of standard surgical protocol? And then to charge an additional $110. on top of the surgery costs is quite disconcerting. Dr. Wolfe is wonderful. I truly appreciate her compassion towards animals and appreciate the dedication she elicited by going out of her way to ensure that my beloved 7-year-old dachshund was appropriately cared for this weekend after having a procedure. She called to check on her several times throughout the weekend, even volunteering to come in during her time off if necessary. The staff at Burlingame Road Animal Hospital take wonderful care of my girls, Mercy and Grace (boxer/bulldogs). They have cared for them since birth 6.5 yrs ago. Prior to that they were the "go-to" team for my weimaraner. Greedy and careless. As a college student struggling to pay for rent and care for myself and my dog, I took my dog in for a simple check up. The vet that saw us insisted on running several unnecessary tests, gave my dog worm medication (when he had already been treated) and thought of many various other weird and wonderful ways to take my money, like insisting my perfectly healthy, year old pup needed his ears cleaned by squirting a solution into them. At the end of everything I was hit with a $300 bill for unnecessary procedures I had asked not to have done. Read Less

We first met Dr. Hrencher in 1988 when we moved to Topeka and had to meet city ordinances for vaccinations and licensing.Princes was a 3 year old mixed breed of possibly fox terrier and turtle terrier origins if there is such a thing. She loved to swim, fish, hunt and herd turtles. Camping was always an adventure when Princess went along.State Parks were clearly posted that all dogs must be on a leash. That ten-pound alpha dog did not know how to read and did not care. She had a plan to do it her way without reservation or restraint, when the time was right. One particular spring near a lake she found a score of wonderful female turtles nesting near a lake. She looked out across the low sandy soil at all those turtles laying their eggs, scouted the situation, knowing exactly where those dozen or so turtles belonged or where she was intent on sending them. Like lightening she slipped her collar and was off past the No DOGS WITHOUT A LEASH sign, past the amateur cameramen, with my seven year old son in hot pursuit, yelling all the way. Princess herded at least a dozen turtles into a flock and drove them back into that lake then dove into to take her earned swim around the shore to the snap of photos as she went.On an Easter Sunday my son took Princess for a walk not far from home. She, once again slipped her leash getting loose to join other big dogs in the middle of the street. The other big dogs were able to lunge out of the way. Princess was not. she was struck by a car and died at the side of the street. We took her little body to Dr. Hrencher. He helped us take care of her final needs.Over the years there have been many pets and I know Dr. Hrencher and Burlingame animal hospital will meet the needs of my animals and me. Read Less
