Warning: this is a long story, but its worth the read (I think, anyway.) So I had a rough night and day today. I watched over my Rocky like a hawk. I honestly thought he was going to die. Even now, hours later, my emotions are all over the place, and my thanks to God for saving my old fart Rocky know no bounds. Thanks to Rocky and Gracie's vet, Dr. Tom Schmar (owner of Home Pet Care). Around 2 this morning, I told my babies good night and petted them each for a moment. Only Rocky hissed at me. I first thought that he was grumpy, and he was, but I touched his face and found something wrong with the right side. I got a flashlight and found he had a fist sized lump from his lower jaw to his neck. I panicked. I couldn't think clearly enough to figure out what to do. All I could think was that Rocky had cancer, and it was finally time to say goodbye. After a good cry, I realized this lump came up overnight and so was probably not cancer (but you never know). I sent a message to my sister that she needed to take us to the ER clinic that I hated. I just so desperately wanted Dr. Tom to see him. By now it was 330 am, and it was too early to text Dr. Tom. I continued pacing and waiting for my sister to reply, when someone nudged me and said to send a text to his vet. It was now about 430 am, so I went ahead and did it (thinking God was nudging me to do it). Boy, was it ever perfect timing! Dr. Tom replied immediately and said he'd be here around 930. As soon as he got here, Dr. Tom took one look at Rocky and weighed him to find out he'd dropped a pound. He said he'd been bitten and had an abcess. Poor baby! Doc found the tiny scab, took it off, and the abcess drained and drained. Nasty smelly stuff. Rocky got 2 shots (about steroid and antibiotic). He's got 6 days more of antibiotics (yay...not). And then off the lil cat went to hide. The wound is open to finish draining (yuck), but it's best for him. He is already so much better! And it cost me a quarter of what the ER clinic would have charged me. I am so grateful to God for telling me to contact Dr. Tom and that this was such an easy fix. Praise God! Dr. Tom is an amazing vet! Best one I've ever worked with!Read Less
