I have brought 2 of my pets here and have had a wonderful experience both times. The staff are always friendly and, even as walk ins, the wait time isn't bad at all. They go over everything with you so you fully understand what is going on with your fur baby and take the time to answer questions. I have never felt rushed by them, like at some other vet offices. I'm not sure how their prices compare with other vets in the area, but they aren't nearly as expensive as some vets I have been to in the past. All in all, I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a vet. Read Less

The vet diagnosed something for which the dog did not have symptoms, and wanted $400.00 to treat her. When I said no, the vet tech had a different sheet of treatments for $200, for something completely different that the dog had no symptoms of as well. I took her elsewhere and she has colitis, was given the proper meds, dietary instructions, and she started feeling better 2 hours later. No dog should have their abdomen palpated so deeply and abruptly, Dr. Holthaus. You are very unkind and never directly answered a single one of my questions. Even though I insisted she hadn't had diarrhea or vomiting, you insisted that she had pancreatitis, then you shifted to an intestinal blockage. Idiocy. Read Less

I cannot believe the reviews I'm reading about this place - My husband and I have the utmost respect for everyone who works at Stone House! There was a time that we took our cat to them in the middle of the night because the 24 hour emergency clinic screwed us out of money and treatment; did not provide necessary care for him as he was suffering from saddleback thrombosis (they told us it was likely a broken bone but wouldn't do an x-ray). It was obvious he was in pain after receiving a shot from the emergency clinic so we called around and found that Stone House was open; promptly rushed him over. The vet was able to give us answers, a real diagnosis, give a good pain remedy and referral to K-State. He was so kind, compassionate, and caring toward our cat that night that we switched our dogs over to this clinic afterward. Our dogs are always cared for in an emergency situation and treated well during their check-ups. These people are great! Read Less

We've been going here for a couple of years and have never been terribly impressed with the service of the veterinarians. I've never had an issue with the vet techs as other reviews have suggested. They have always been kind and very interested and engaging with our dog. The veterinarians themselves are the issue. Most of the veterinarians seem completely disinterested in the job and do little to engage with or check the animal during a visit. On our most recent visit, we were treated so deplorably and with such attitude that we are NEVER going back. The veterinarian was so rude he practically acted as though we're committing animal abuse. When I told him that I care deeply about our dog and his health, he said "that's the only reason I'm sitting here talking with you. Otherwise I would've told you to look for another vet hospital." Well, thanks to his horrendous attitude towards us, we'll be doing just that! Read Less

First, the assistant seemed to have no idea how to get our puppy on the scale (uh, it's called treats. Fortunately I had some with me). Both her and the vet's "bedside manner" seemed pretty disinterested in the dog compared to other places we've been. Then the vet wouldn't even glance at some scrapes our dog had from being hit by a car a week before (after his previous owners let him run out in the street), presumably because I didn't pay for the "full physical" they were trying to sell. At this point the scrapes seemed to be healing fine so all I was really asking for was a 30-second look and an opinion about whether they'd continue to heal on their own or whether we might need further treatment - I wasn't asking for a lot of care for free. But without even looking, all the vet said was that we should take the cone off the dog (after putting us down for having one on him in the first place) and that he had "never" put one of his patients in one. "We let him lick the wounds for a few days because we could see it was helping, but then they started looking worse and he licked them raw," I said. "So let him lick them raw," the vet replied. That didn't make a lot of sense to me, but I tend to lean towards natural care/minimal intervention, so I took the cone off. Within 10 minutes the dog had opened up all the wounds again and made them bleed, including the ones that were scabbed and doing just fine. Come home and do some googling and sure enough EVERY vet out there confirms our instinct: some licking is fine to start, but stop them if it becomes obsessive and/or starts regressing the healing. So the cone's back on, with healing set back who knows how many days. Not impressed and definitely not going back. Read Less

I took my 3 cats in for shots, and then about a week or so later to be declawed using the laser method. For the first appointment, the cats were not scared at all. They sensed the people caring for them were not to be feared. During their exam, I think they thought they were getting a massage. All of the staff clearly cares about the animals, it's not just a job. I was informed about any charges, very detailed, BEFORE the work was done. They gave me options. No surprises. No extras pushed on me. For the surgery, my cats have never been away over night so I think I was more sad than they were. I was happy that they kept the cats 2 nights to monitor their recovery, even though they were missed at home. I was able to visit them every night which was very comforting to me and them. The laser method was definitely less intrusive and they were not limping or acting like they were in pain. No bloody feet. When they got home, they were not mad at me, but 15 minutes in, they were back to normal and feeling at home as if nothing happened. They did not punish me either and were just as lovable as they were before. This writing applies to all staff from the reception desk to the doctors and everyone else. I give 5 stars because their was not one thing that gave me concern due to their informative consults, their understanding that the cats were family and allowed me to visit, and not only made my cats feel comfortable, but also made me feel comfortable. Also the fact that they offered optional services, but did not push them, or make me feel guilty since I could not really afford the extras at this time. So for everyone that really love your pets and consider them part of your family, take them to Stone House Animal Hospital.Read Less

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I took my dog and cat in for simple things. They wound up doing tests without my knowledge on one of my pets. Then when I protested that I wouldn't pay for tests that I neither asked for nor was consulted about, they held my two animals ransom until I paid them AND then charged me board on top of this. I been a veterinarian assistant, have raised many small and large animals and have had close working relationships with veterinarians. I know exactly what is required and needed when you take a pet into a veterinarian. BEWARE this place WILL charge you extra for things if they can get away with it.

Be forewarned and knowledge-based when dealing with these crooks! Read Less

Listen and let me take all the time I needed when I had to make the hard decision to put my dog down. Thanks.
