Usually leery of extreme price gouging and excess services being thrust upon me, I really avoided going to the vet. Now I can easily say I don't mind at all. They show me cost before charging me - it is all itemized. The transparency is great, but the wait can be a little long (I wait about 5-10 minutes after my time, but I don't mind). I have constantly been given discounts or a surprisingly low bill - a visit is 40$, and a full chemistry and blood count was very affordable (The website accurately prices their Senior Cat checkup for 250$). The ONLY vet that's worth your money around KC. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, but I've had a total of 12 cats and 5 dogs over the years...and in all my experience of being a fur mom, I have never had even a comparable experience at anywhere else to FMA. Firstly, they are incredibly friendly, informative, and provide plenty of resources to their customers, both human and otherwise. Secondly, THEY ARE HANDS DOWN MORE AFFORDABLE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE YOU CAN GO TO IN THE AREA. THEY SEND OUT COUPONS IN THE MAIL. It is literally their desire that your animals get the care they need, instead of trying to profit off of you and simply care for themselves. One of my dogs, I adopted from Great Plains SPCA, and even then I find that my bills there are much higher, and they don't make it quite as much of a point to be welcoming to you (there's one employee I can think of in particular, while the rest of the staff is actually extremely nice). Here at FMA, you will be greeted and taken care of like your pets are theirs. You don't get fed BS by any of the employees here. They cut you EXTREMELY GOOD DEALS on everything they do. Be prepared to spend easily HALF as much here as you would elsewhere! And even though it's small (I really wish I could help them get into a bigger building so they could see more people and have more space to do their thing!), you NEVER wait long, and never feel forgotten. The doctor here clearly needs to go back to school to learn the difference between short medium and long haired cats even Google knows better then him or her I recommend a second opinion or just avoid them all together. A year has passed since my first visit to this clinic. My girls just went in for their yearly check-ups. I am just as happy with this clinic and its staff as I was before. This time we saw Dr. Alex, he gave my girls very thorough exams, then they got their shots. Everyone in the clinic are so friendly and knowledgeable. Love, love, love FMA! Truly compassionate and helpful staff. My dog Rosie, was abused at another place and started having anxiety seizures when we took her anywhere. The doctors and techs at FMA were very attentive and helpful to her, when I picked her up she was "smiling" and happy, no seizures! They took care of everything for both my dogs and I can keep updated through their pet portal on anything that is due. I've taken almost all of my pets here and when my other dog is ready for shots he'll be coming here too! I've only been a couple of times but the vet is very nice and answered any questions I had. The receptionists are also super nice and help get processing/paperwork out of the way quickly. I've not had to wait more than a few minutes to get into an exam room. The office is also nice and clean and doesn't have that typical "vet office" smell to it. My dogs seemed quite comfortable and my cat who typically hates the vet was significantly more relaxed than normal. As long as we live close by we plan to continue to take our pets here! Read Less

Great FMA hospital staff even after I initially had a little problem dropping my pet off the night before his surgery. After the issue was resolved, the surgery went smooth with one of the staff members callings of update on my pet's status. They are very reasonably priced and the clinic is kept very clean. FMA animal hospital has been so great to our Malti-poo dog. When we had just recently adopted her, and were nervous about a sickness that had been lingering as new dog parents, we took her to FMA to be seen. Not only was the price VERY reasonable, but the staff explained each medication in detail for me and even called a couple days after to check-in and make sure she was okay. 0 STARS -- THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO IF YOU HAVE A VETERINARY EMERGENCY!!! I took my kitty here after she was mauled by a dog as this was my regular vet. My original intention was to euthanize her right away because it was looking pretty bad. The techs talked me into letting DR BACHMAN look at her and he told me she was going to be just fine and they'd stitch her up like new. I believed that he would give me an accurate diagnosis and trusted he would tell me if she was too bad off to save so I said okay to surgery. They didn't start surgery until 2 days later, essentially leaving her all torn up laying in her own filth the meantime. They sent her home with me that night after surgery -- they wouldn't even let me SEE her until I had paid them handsomely and when I did I could tell she was in a lot of pain. They gave me antibiotics and pain meds to give her and I followed their instructions to a T, still she died at home 2 days later. The morning before she passed a lady from the vet called me to check up on her and I had just given her her morning dose of the antibiotic and she had foamed at the mouth. Concerned, I told the lady calling what had happened and she "went to ask the doctor" and came back and told me that "she probably just didn't like the taste" - really?! She died that evening. She was DYING when they sent her home with me and THEY KNEW IT, I'm convinced of that much. This vet will take your money in your time of need and lie to your face about your pets needs. After she passed I was angry that my baby had to suffer when I could've ended it all mercifully right away like my instinct had told me to and I also felt bad about the money I had to shell out to "save her", money that I didn't have, for services that did not save my cat. I returned my leftover meds to the vet as I didn't want them lying around the house as a reminder and told a vet tech KIRSTIN as much -- she was beyond rude to me and told me all I cared about was money as I stood in tears over my poor kitty. This was a HORRIBLE experience and I hope no one ever has to go through what I did using this vet. If your pet is having an emergency, TAKE THEM ELSEWHERE - this is NOT the place!!! Read Less

I was very impressed with their desire to help my kitty Felix when he became ill. They let me bring him in after hours and stayed with him to run tests and make sure he was comfortable for his overnight stay. Dr. Bachmann was very kind and extremely knowledgeable. He made sure I understood everything that was going on, and even stayed long after hours to perform surgery on Felix so he wouldn't have to suffer anymore. My only complaint is that it ended up being VERY pricey, but for the procedures performed, I'm not sure it would have been cheaper anywhere else. I took my dog here for the first time last week to have him borded while we were gone for the Thanksgiving holiday !! Amazing service! I am so glad I found FMA and Dr. Bachman. The first time we had an appointment, I was impressed that Dr. Bachman met my dog on the floor for his exam, instead of making my dog feel stressed on the exam table. But I was even more impressed at Dr. Bachman's depth of knowledge and willingness to take the time to share it. I have never had a vet so willing to make sure I understood all options without making me feel pressured to choose a specific one. Everyone on staff is respectful, helpful, friendly and seem that they really love their jobs. I received a coupon in the mail for a spay/neuter for my dog. I called around to get price estimates and looked for reviews. I didn't see a whole lot of great reviews for FMA, but just average. However, a lot of the vet clinics around the city were way higher on this service than FMA. So, I decided to go with FMA and they were great!!! They did a great job with the spaying of my little Shih-Poo. They made only 2 stitches and gave me a pain package to make sure that my dog wasn't in any pain when I brought her home. I was planning on taking her back to get groomed, but when I called, their groomer had quit and they hadn't found a replacement yet. So, I went to the Elegant Canine in the brookside area. It was nice, but I felt very rushed at Elegant Canine and I didn't think they did a very good job with what I wanted in the grooming. So, as it is starting to become summer, I needed to get my dog a summer cut. I called FMA and asked if they had a groomer, which they did. they were great a scheduling me the very next day! I have to say, i was soo nervous at cutting my puppies hair soo short for summer and was a little worried about they way she would look, but i LOVE her little new do! It is adorable and they groomer was awesome and took time to listen to what I wanted for my dog! I would highly recommend FMA to anyone! Read Less

Our first visit turned into a tough one. Our dog is about 11 years old, and we took him in to have his teeth cleaned and to get caught up on his shots. They were going to have to keep him through the day b/c they had to anesthetize him since his teeth were so bad. We got a call about an hour before we were supposed to pick him up. They told us he had not responded well to the anesthesia and they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. We probably called them 4-5 times throughout the day to check up on him and they were never rude and they always knew just how he was doing. When I called for the last time (20 minutes after business hours) the vet answered and I appologized for calling so much. He said to me, ""Of course you're calling, he's your baby and you're worried"". They had someone call us the next morning half an hour before they opened to tell us he was doing great and we could come get him before the start of business. All of our dealings with this vet and his employees have been as stress free and informational as anyone could want. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone to take care of their baby. I've been there twice and both times they were readily available. That should have been first clue. First time the vet never even came out to meet me. Second time, the assistant was giving trimming my dogs nails, which my dog wasn't happy about. Imagine that! Anyway, I was helping and so was the intern. She told my dog to behave or she would have 'mama leave the room and that will take away your comfort zone"". Not that my dog understands English and knew what she was saying, it's that she said it, and out loud in front of me. I went in there for a rabies shot and nail trimming and was there for 45 mins. They kept me in the room and were talking about moving the cars around in the parking lot. Just complete jerks and many in town have told me similar. Read Less
