These people are the absolute best. I've been bringing my dog to Westwood for years, for immunizations, boarding, and a few ad hoc visits when needed. I've never once been unhappy with the service provided. They really get to know the animals, and you can tell that they care. I used to board my dog somewhere else, and I started boarding him at Westwood because I noticed a distinct difference in his attitude when we arrived at the respective locations. He is happy when we walk in the door at Westwood, and happy every time when I come to pick him up. That's the best endorsement they can get in my book.
WAH Folks: I'm moving to a new city soon, and I'll be grateful if I can find another vet and boarder that lives up to your standard. Thank you for taking great care of my pup for these past several years.

We have been coming to Westwood Animal Hospital with our many cats and dogs for over a decade. The doctors and staff have always made us feel welcome. They are sensitive and supportive whether we were there for a check-up or to see a beloved pet over the Rainbow Bridge. They always remember who we are and are very personable. They are honest about the pet's conditions and needs. I referred my sister to Westwood and she has been quite happy with them as well.

I never had a problem scheduling a convenient appointment time and when I brought my dog in urgently he was evaluated right away. Boarding my pets here was as stress-free as possible for all of us and they did not seem to mind at all when I check...ed in frequently to see how the fur babies were doing. I recently had to have my elderly dog put to sleep, and they made the experience very comfortable and caring for all of us. Highly recommend! (Note: I have been to many vet clinics. You've got to have a vet you can totally trust, and Westwood Animal Hospital is most definitely a trustworthy, top-notch vet.We have bounced between here and another vet for the past year of my dog Scout's life. Scout fell in love with this place as we did puppy training classes here. Highly recommend doing those classes because while it's great that they help socialize the puppies and keep training consistent, let's be honest, it's better just to watch a pile of puppies roll around playing with each other!Our most recent trip was to get him fixed and after reading way too much about it, I can safely say they do the procedure the right way. IV monitoring, just the right amount of anesthesia with a blood test beforehand to ensure safety before putting them under, a fancy new cone of shame when they leave... the works. They also had the doc come out and talk with me afterwards to explain the recovery and answer any questions. If you're near the Plaza/Midtown or the NE Johnson County area, this is a highly convenient, quality vet.

My beloved 10 year old dog died in October and I was blown away by how gentle, kind, and helpful the entire staff (especially the vets) were about the whole thing. They were with me every step of the way.

This is where I take my cocker spaniel to not only get his check ups but also where he gets his food. Patrick, my dog, loves the veterinarians here! They are very professional, kind, and thorough when checking out your loved one. I actually switched to this veterinary practice after having some issues with another one in Overland Park, and it has been a total 180* change since bringing Patrick here! Patrick had previously been misdiagnosed at his former veterinary clinic-with a freakin' brain tumor! Can you believe that?!? Well I could not, that is when I brought Patrick to the Westwood Veterinary clinic for a second opinion; and, surprise surprise, Patrick had zero signs of a brain tumor. I think there are some vet clinics out there that try to take advantage of you and your love for your animal by having them undergo all this rigorous testing; however, that is certainly not the case here. They take excellent cater of your animal from the technicians working in the front to the DVMs working in the back! I am proud to say that Patrick get his health care done at this veterinary clinic, where they do not try and pull one over on you; but instead give you and your pet real quality professional animal health treatment. The employees here are also great advocates for the proper care of all animals! I suggest that if you are having a difficult time with your current vet then come to the Westwood Animal Hospital for a second opinion and see how you and your beloved animal like it.

I've tried other vets and haven't seen this kind of care before. They are really good with him. We've seen 3 different vets now and each one makes a effort to make my guy relaxed. they even let me be with him when test need to be done. They've also helped me understand my dog's anxiety. I can't recommend them high enough.

Any licensed vet can immunize your pet, but not every clinic can boast the collective knowledge (educational and technological) that the vets at Westwood can. As if that wasn't enough- and it kind of isn't when your beloved pet is in pain and you don't know why- their compassion for your worrIes and your pet's needs are unmatched. Bottom line is, the vets and their entire staff genuinely care, and it shows in their work. They've taken care of 7 of my animals in the past 25 years and I'll gratefully entrust any future furry friends to them as well. They're that good. Oh, and as far as boarding goes, they're the best. When I had to travel extensively for work, it got to a point where my dog would charge to their door upon arrival for boarding, and barely say goodbye before running to her Westwood staff friends! I initially felt slighted, but 2 seconds later, I was relieved that she was THAT in love with them. And it only made me love this clinic all the more.

While I was out of town, my daughter was watching my dog, Kapo and he cut his foot on something and was bleeding terribly. Westwood was close to her house so she called them and they told her to bring him right in. They moved their schedule around so that Dr. Beyer could see him right away. They took such wonderful care of him, stitched him up, bandaged him up and he was great. After I came home, I took him back in three times - twice for a bandage change and once to have his stitches out. The staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful. They treated me and Kapo like family. Thanks for taking such good care of my baby. He's good as new and doing his "Superman" leap off the deck again.

I called to inquire about his rehabilitation classes and while I proceeded to tell him about my German Shepherd he quickly Interrupted me and said, " well if you are interested call and make an appointment, THANK YOU!" and hung up on me. I've been bringing my two dogs here for about 3 years. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming to me and my pets. The office is very clean and the staff is quick and efficient. They're very accommodating with appointments too. One time one of my dogs ate something he shouldn't have and got sick. They were able to get us in that same day to check him out. I really trust the staff and couldn't imagine taking my dogs anywhere else.

Now we visit just for routine check-ups and have been seen by all 3 of the vets. They do offer a great variety of classes that I hear are superb however have not taken advantage.

As much as I always dread visiting the vet (not as much as my own doctor) when I do I am always reminded that I am so happy that my vet is Westwood Animal Hospital. They have never treated me or my pets with anything but respect. We have been using them for 6 years and they have seen all of our crew during that time. They have dealt with everything from regular check ups, broken dog teeth, dog fungus, hot spots, teeth cleaning and kitty cancer. They were also there for us when it finally came time to put both of our cats to sleep. They do smaller surgeries but will refer you to a larger hospital for anything major. They also offer K-9 classes and puppy training and have a small store next door. On our visits have always been with Dr Beyer and Dr Hunthausen, great vets that clearly love their jobs.The do have pet boarding which we have used for short weekends. If it is going to be more than 2 nights we will use another facility just because we have two bigger dogs, both high energy and it just doesn't do them justice to be in a dog run for large part of the day. Before our cat died we always boarded her at Westwood and never had any complaints, the staff has always been wonderful. It is very clear that everyone that works there loves animals, as they should.

These people are the absolute best. I've been bringing my dog to Westwood for years, for immunizations, boarding, and a few ad hoc visits when needed. I've never once been unhappy with the service provided. They really get to know the animals, and you can tell that they care. I used to board my dog somewhere else, and I started boarding him at Westwood because I noticed a distinct difference in his attitude when we arrived at the respective locations. He is happy when we walk in the door at Westwood, and happy every time when I come to pick him up. That's the best endorsement they can get in my book.
WAH Folks: I'm moving to a new city soon, and I'll be grateful if I can find another vet and boarder that lives up to your standard. Thank you for taking great care of my pup for these past several years.

We have been coming to Westwood Animal Hospital with our many cats and dogs for over a decade. The doctors and staff have always made us feel welcome. They are sensitive and supportive whether we were there for a check-up or to see a beloved pet over the Rainbow Bridge. They always remember who we are and are very personable. They are honest about the pet's conditions and needs. I referred my sister to Westwood and she has been quite happy with them as well.

I never had a problem scheduling a convenient appointment time and when I brought my dog in urgently he was evaluated right away. Boarding my pets here was as stress-free as possible for all of us and they did not seem to mind at all when I check...ed in frequently to see how the fur babies were doing. I recently had to have my elderly dog put to sleep, and they made the experience very comfortable and caring for all of us. Highly recommend! (Note: I have been to many vet clinics. You've got to have a vet you can totally trust, and Westwood Animal Hospital is most definitely a trustworthy, top-notch vet.We have bounced between here and another vet for the past year of my dog Scout's life. Scout fell in love with this place as we did puppy training classes here. Highly recommend doing those classes because while it's great that they help socialize the puppies and keep training consistent, let's be honest, it's better just to watch a pile of puppies roll around playing with each other!Our most recent trip was to get him fixed and after reading way too much about it, I can safely say they do the procedure the right way. IV monitoring, just the right amount of anesthesia with a blood test beforehand to ensure safety before putting them under, a fancy new cone of shame when they leave... the works. They also had the doc come out and talk with me afterwards to explain the recovery and answer any questions. If you're near the Plaza/Midtown or the NE Johnson County area, this is a highly convenient, quality vet.

My beloved 10 year old dog died in October and I was blown away by how gentle, kind, and helpful the entire staff (especially the vets) were about the whole thing. They were with me every step of the way.

We honestly think it is the best thing we could have done for our dog and we continue to see the benefits a year later. This is where I take my cocker spaniel to not only get his check ups but also where he gets his food. Patrick, my dog, loves the veterinarians here! They are very professional, kind, and thorough when checking out your loved one. I actually switched to this veterinary practice after having some issues with another one in Overland Park, and it has been a total 180* change since bringing Patrick here! Patrick had previously been misdiagnosed at his former veterinary clinic-with a freakin' brain tumor! Can you believe that?!? Well I could not, that is when I brought Patrick to the Westwood Veterinary clinic for a second opinion; and, surprise surprise, Patrick had zero signs of a brain tumor. I think there are some vet clinics out there that try to take advantage of you and your love for your animal by having them undergo all this rigorous testing; however, that is certainly not the case here. They take excellent cater of your animal from the technicians working in the front to the DVMs working in the back! I am proud to say that Patrick get his health care done at this veterinary clinic, where they do not try and pull one over on you; but instead give you and your pet real quality professional animal health treatment. The employees here are also great advocates for the proper care of all animals! I suggest that if you are having a difficult time with your current vet then come to the Westwood Animal Hospital for a second opinion and see how you and your beloved animal like it.

all the doctors and techs are fantastic. My dog gets anxious and nervous and they really worked with us so he felt comfortable and relaxed. He likes going there now, which is a first. I've tried other vets and haven't seen this kind of care before. They are really good with him. We've seen 3 different vets now and each one makes a effort to make my guy relaxed. they even let me be with him when test need to be done. They've also helped me understand my dog's anxiety. I can't recommend them high enough.

Any licensed vet can immunize your pet, but not every clinic can boast the collective knowledge (educational and technological) that the vets at Westwood can. As if that wasn't enough- and it kind of isn't when your beloved pet is in pain and you don't know why- their compassion for your worrIes and your pet's needs are unmatched. Bottom line is, the vets and their entire staff genuinely care, and it shows in their work. They've taken care of 7 of my animals in the past 25 years and I'll gratefully entrust any future furry friends to them as well. They're that good. Oh, and as far as boarding goes, they're the best. When I had to travel extensively for work, it got to a point where my dog would charge to their door upon arrival for boarding, and barely say goodbye before running to her Westwood staff friends! I initially felt slighted, but 2 seconds later, I was relieved that she was THAT in love with them. And it only made me love this clinic all the more.

Zoey has severe aggression issues and Dr. Hunthausen has worked with us and we now have a dog that we can manage and will live with and love for the rest of her life. Since we are several hours away, he has made himself available for the occasional call or email when situations have come up that we needed help in managing, but didnt warrant an appointment. Westwood was close to her house so she called them and they told her to bring him right in. They moved their schedule around so that Dr. Beyer could see him right away. They took such wonderful care of him, stitched him up, bandaged him up and he was great. After I came home, I took him back in three times - twice for a bandage change and once to have his stitches out. The staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful. They treated me and Kapo like family. Thanks for taking such good care of my baby. He's good as new and doing his "Superman" leap off the deck again.

Just got off the phone with Hunthausen and I will not be taking my pet here. No matter how many years of experience he has under his belt, It doesn't make up for the lack of respect this man has. I called to inquire about his rehabilitation classes and while I proceeded to tell him about my German Shepherd he quickly Interrupted me and said, " well if you are interested call and make an appointment, THANK YOU!" and hung up on me. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. Don't go here. They are only interested in money and can't spare a 5 minute free phone call.

I've been bringing my two dogs here for about 3 years. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming to me and my pets. The office is very clean and the staff is quick and efficient. They're very accommodating with appointments too. One time one of my dogs ate something he shouldn't have and got sick. They were able to get us in that same day to check him out. I really trust the staff and couldn't imagine taking my dogs anywhere else.

I've been taking my pup here since he was 8 weeks old and am extremely happy! They were always quick to get us in when I freaked out about a 'puppy emergency' although nothing ever turned out that serious. Now we visit just for routine check-ups and have been seen by all 3 of the vets. They do offer a great variety of classes that I hear are superb however have not taken advantage.

As much as I always dread visiting the vet (not as much as my own doctor) when I do I am always reminded that I am so happy that my vet is Westwood Animal Hospital. They have never treated me or my pets with anything but respect. We have been using them for 6 years and they have seen all of our crew during that time. They have dealt with everything from regular check ups, broken dog teeth, dog fungus, hot spots, teeth cleaning and kitty cancer. They were also there for us when it finally came time to put both of our cats to sleep. They do smaller surgeries but will refer you to a larger hospital for anything major. They also offer K-9 classes and puppy training and have a small store next door. On our visits have always been with Dr Beyer and Dr Hunthausen, great vets that clearly love their jobs.The do have pet boarding which we have used for short weekends. If it is going to be more than 2 nights we will use another facility just because we have two bigger dogs, both high energy and it just doesn't do them justice to be in a dog run for large part of the day. Before our cat died we always boarded her at Westwood and never had any complaints, the staff has always been wonderful. It is very clear that everyone that works there loves animals, as they should.
