I have been with this Veterinarian Clinic for 30 years or more. I started using them when Dr. Wingert still worked there. I now use Dr. Christina Richards and she is awesome, I just love her. One of my dog's doesn't care for her but that's because she does mean things like give her shots. LOL but she is a very loving and caring person to both of my dogs. The entire staff at this Clinic is very friendly, caring and professional. I want to give a shout out to Tova. She is one of the support staff and she has been there for a very long time. And the only reason I'm not mentioning any of the others it's because I can't remember all their names. I heard you to give them a try you will not be sorry. Read Less

I love all of the staff at Wingert Animal Hospital! So much that I've been taking my dog there for 11.5 yrs, even though it's all the way at the other end of town. They are up on the newer treatments, they are very helpful in figuring out what my dog really needs, and understand the need to budget expenses. Read Less

Update 9/20/2017 Last month, my Chihuahua became very ill.The staff quickly worked us in on a busy Saturday morning. Unfortunately, my little guy's prognosis is not good. However, the vet was very straight forward and clear about his condition while maintaining her sympathetic manner. All my questions were answered and I was able to make informed decisions about my dog's future. I'm very sad about the fact that my time with my dog will be less than ideal, but I'm confident about the care he's getting and the guidance I've received. Everyone, from the staff member who made my appointment, to the vet who treated my crew, was friendly, helpful, and competent. I've got both an anxiety dribbling Beagle and a fear biting Chihuahua. Both the staff and the vet were helpful with and tolerant of my imperfect pets. I'd recommend this office to any pet owner and I will continue to use them in the future. Read Less

I have lived in Wichita Kansas for about 25 years. I started taking my pets to Wingert Animal Hospital shortly after that time. I have seen all of the Doctors there and like them all. The staff is also knowledgeable and compassionate.  Dr Richards is my Vet and I am my dogs love her.  We had to put our little girl to sleep about a year ago and it was heartbreaking but Dr Richards and her staff were wonderful to us. Shortly thereafter, my Sparky, my 11 year old Beagle  got a severe autoimmune disease and thanks to Dr Richards knowledge we caught it early and he is still with us. Wingert animal hospital has been our veterinarians since !998.I will never consider going anywhere else for our beloved pets' care.During the past we have had to put to sleep 3 of our fur babies.The doctors and staff are so compassionate,they cry with you.A sympathy card is also sent to your home. and a donation is  sent in memory of your pet to the Sedgwick Co. Very good people. Everyone in the office treats you like family, not just a patient/customer. My wife and I have 4 cats, that are as dear to us as our kids are. All 4, have had all their vet needs taken care of through Wingert Vet. Our oldest, is having dental work done on 6/9/15. I will also be speaking to them about chipping him, and then the others. I just want to express how grateful I am with finding this place! Last year, our Bengal kitten suffered CHF; Dr. Richards and the staff were so sympathetic and caring. They even sent a letter after we had to put him to sleep expressing their condolences and also made a contribution in his name to the Sedgwick County Zoo! I now have another Bengal, and chose to stay with Dr. Richards. She really takes her time with you and makes sure she answers every question or concern you have about your pet. If you're looking for a place that isn't about taking your money and pushing you out the door, this is the place to be! They are all honest, genuine, and CARING people! Read Less

I really cannot express adequately in words the exceptional care my two pugs received from Dr Christina Richards and the staff at Wingert Animal Hospital. Dr Richards saw our pugs through puppyhood to being senior citizens. She cared for them through mange, squamous cell carcinoma, and lung cancer. Our dogs are still with us today because of her knowledge and care. Dr Richards best attribute is her caring and compassionate nature. She always took the time to discuss our options and researched different avenues of treatment to better care for our dogs. She helped us get through our dog's diagnosis of lung cancer. At the time we thought it was terminal and Dr Richards delicately went over comfort care options. Our dog started to bounce back with the anti-inflammatory meds that were prescribed. Seeing the improvement, Dr Richards referred us to an oncologist who provided our dog with chemotherapy. Our dog has been cancer free now for 3 years. I give Dr Richards all the credit for not giving up and skating a delicate balance between being realistic and hopeful. I would be amiss to not give credit to the wonderful people that work at Wingert Animal Hospital. All the technicians were so caring and gentle with our dogs. We have since moved out of state, but have yet to find a veterinarian that combines the knowledge, compassion, and caring nature that Dr Richards possesses. Read Less

After moving to Wichita in 2011 -- I asked for recommendations for a Vet. The Rental Office where I rented my home actually asked their employees and then called me back. Recommending Wingert Animal Hospital.My Chihuahua is a Senior Citizen and she's been to the Vet several times -- so she has a little anxiety when we go to the DR. She's been spayed -- had a tumor removed and biopsied and had an absessed tooth 'from Hell' while in California. I had my Vet from California fax them  all of her records. She LOVED Dr Christina Richards -- no panic attacks or urinating (which has happened in the past).My only problem with this office is that I temporarily moved to Missouri (6 months) and had my Chihuahua's records forwarded to Missouri. But when I returned to Wichita they had 'culled' her file because we moved. That irritated me because I had the records sent to them without getting my own copy.Anyway, upon return to Wichita, I brought ALL of my pets in for innoculations and heartworm tests. I had 'inherited' my Dad's Welsh Corgi and she became ill and needed treatment. We had been treating an eye infection in Missouri and I kept asking the Vet for antibiotics, but he deemed it topical and refused to give me the antibiotics. By the time we arrived back in Wichita the infection had spread to her internal organs. Dr Richards gave me the antibiotics, but told me that I needed to have realistic expectations -- that it may already be too late to treat this. I actually appreciated her honesty. Although 'Hobo' rebounded briefly -- she did pass away within 2 weeks.I brought 'Hobo' in to their office for cremation services and "Tova' was the one who  handled the arrangements. When I married, in Missouri, my animal family expanded. I have brought all of them in for shots, heartworm tests, microchipping and even just nail clipping!!  \Update: Our younger Chihuahua, "Honey' passed away two weeks ago and we once again used their cremation services. This time, 'Deanna" handled the arrangements and she was awesome.Update: We have just adopted a couple of Labs and I fully intent to bring them here. The lady I am adopting them from has a Vet who charges considerably less for their services -- but I much prefer taking my 'babies' to someone I trust. I read the reviews for her Vet and I think I will pass. . . . . . . . . . .These guys are OUR FAMILY and we want the best!!Update: We have lost another pet, Rita, and 'Jen'  handled her cremation  services. This has been a rough year for our family and the Wingert Vet Hospital is very compassionate. But it's Dr Christina Richards is what keeps us coming back. Read Less

I've been taking my pets to Wingert's for over 30 years. Dr. Fred was the first Vet I met and he was AWESOME. My little dog was struck by a car and he took such great care of her after the Emergency Clinic told me she would have to be put down...Dr. Fred fixed her up! These people have the best, as far as bed side manner towards animals. I had a cat that developed a tumor in his bladder, and we caught it too late. They were very supportive, and even went as far as to send me a condolences card afterwards. Awesome people in my book. I would recommend them to anybody and everybody. Read Less

My oldest cat had developed a gum infection which made it difficult for him to eat. My husband and I took him and we were seen by Dr. Richards and she ordered a hydrocortisone shot and antibiotics. He's been on the antibiotics for about a week and he's acting more like a kitten than our youngest cat does. Dr. Richards and the staff are all very nice, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and their fees are EXTREMELY reasonable. My black lab has seen no other veterinarian, and he will be 9 on the 26th of this month. I also like that all the employees really seem to care. And most of the time we see the same DR. I do not have to drag my dog through the door hes always happy to go in. Oh Yea I called around to other vet clinics and my unofficial poll showed that Wingert was generally less expensive. I've been taking my two small dogs to Wingert Animal Hospital for over 4 years now and have always had a good feeling about this place. The doctors and the staff are all wonderful and very thoughtful toward me and my little four legged friends.I had to have one of my dogs (Honey) put down. It was a very, very sad time for me because I had adopted Honey four years ago. She was my very first pet. For those of you who are pet lovers, you undoubtedley know the pain of loosing a beloved pet. Honey's doctor was Dr. Christine Richards. She was wonderful to Honey, very sympathtic and always gave the best care possible. We will always be grateful to Dr. Richards as well as the rest of the staff for all the kindness they showed to my family during and after Honey's illness.
