Took my cat in for a cloudy eye. Dr. Callahan and the woman assisting were excellent!! I have never owned a cat before and they answered all of my questions unrelated to my visit, happily, even providing some helpful reading materials and a little toy mouse for my Louis! They were knowledgeable, quick, and efficient and soothed my fears. The entire staff was very friendly and you could tell they loved the animals so much! They are always absolutely wonderful. Three years ago, Dr. Callahan and his assistant came in on Christmas eve so my cat could pass peacefully in their office and my son wouldn't wake up to a dead cat on Christmas morning. The staff here is extremely kind and considerate. I've been taking both of my cats here since I moved to the NKY area seven years ago. They not only provide excellent veterinary care, but also take the time to talk to me and soothe any concerns I have. When one of my cats began to have odd issues, the vet took time when he was off the clock to do additional research, call other vets he knew, and call me at home to let me know what he had found. After using another animal hospital near NKU for years, I had a cat that had severe allergic reactions and had scratched his face and head with significant ferocity. I called my regular place and explained the seriousness of my cats condition and needed to see the vet immediately. They told me it would be two days. They also have an answering service so it felt like I was calling Duke Energy. I immediately googled nearest places called the first three and the one that could see my cat that day was the Bellevue Animal Hospital. I was floored with the professionalism and courtesy I was shown. I will never go to another vet again. All my questions were answered and options were discussed. I give them my highest recommendation. I also give Highland Heights Animal Hospital my lowest. The only thing they excel in is cremating your pet and a premium price. Read Less

There is no question that this is a great vet. I moved to Newport over three years ago and previously took my little critters to a place in Deer Park, Ohio. That vet was so flipping expensive though (and kept over-treating my animals) that I needed to take a mortgage out just to take my animals in there. Bellevue has been an entirely different experience.  I initially brought my little puppy in because the prior vet gave him too many vaccine shots at once causing a major allergic reaction (and he didn't really seem to care when I called him in a panic). When I called Bellevue, they gave me great advice on how to stop the reaction and then quickly fit me in for treatment. They are very affordable, and I never feel like they are trying to over-medicate my pets or to nickel and dime me.  They also added a female veterinarian recently who I really like. So if you're in the market for a new vet, this is a great place to try. Read Less

The doctors and staff at Bellevue Animal Hospital always treat me and my kitties well. They are respectful of the hard decisions pet owners sometimes have to make and they will provide unbiased information to help you make the decision that is right for you and your pet. Prices are fair and the staff will make every effort to make sure you can get an appointment in a timely manner. I only wish they had a parking lot because occasionally finding an on-street parking spot close is difficult and I hate playing leap frog across the street with a full cat carrier in each hand. I have had nothing but good experiences with the staff at Bellevue Animal Hospital. I take my pit bull mix, my great dane and my cat there and always feel that the vets are mindful of the fact that most people don't have a ton of money to throw away on unnessecary tests. They take great care of my animals and do their best to keep them at ease.My first experience with the Bellevue Animal Hospital was a very sad one. My partner's cat, Harper, was very sick and needed to be put to sleep. We took him in, were allowed to be in the room during the procedure, and the staff did not make us feel uncomfortable or anything for being emotional. The doctor explained exactly what he was doing as he was doing it and afterwards assured us that we had made the right decision for our little guy. In the end, the doctor even waived the fee for the whole procedure which was very sweet.Highly recommend. Read Less

My dog used to freaked out the minute we turn into the parking lot of our previous, over priced vet. I heard from a friend that he dog likes this place that he actually drags HER into the vet for a visit, so I was thrilled to learn this place was walking distance from my house. In addition to be professional and courteous, I never feel like they are scaring me into expensive unnecessary products and services like my previous vet did at every encounter. I recently made the switch to Bellevue Animal Hospital. I adopted my dog through a clinic in Cincinnati, and had been taking him there, but it was just too far away from my house. Bellevue Animal Hospital is within walking distance of home, so I thought I'd give it a try.I was so pleased with our experience! The doctors were very attentive and the nurses were sweet. I liked that they were steady, but not insanely busy as the other vet clinic often was. They took time to get to know my pup, and thoroughly examined him. He's been having the same issue for a few months, and the doctors at the previous clinic were quick to diagnose, but the antibiotic treatment they kept prescribing (and charging me for!) wasn't working. At Bellevue, Dr. Callahan saw my dog, examined him, along with a vet tech, and then also brought Dr. Middleton in for his opinion.They prescribed a more natural treatment, and are doing more research on his condition and have called to check in with us. I'm so happy we made the switch, and highly recommend the Bellevue Animal Hospital if you're looking for a place to take your pet. We had to put down our dog Katie yesterday.  Dr. Middleton handled it all.  We didn't know the day would start that way.  The dog started whining and breathing heaving around midnight.  She didn't move.  Was in definite pain.  At 8 I called Bellevue Animal Hospital.  They saw her at 8:40.  The doctor put a lot of things in technical terms which is normally off-putting but he seemed to care and treated the dog with kindness and consideration.  He suggested some lab work which gave me wallet pause but I gave the go head.He had told me tests may take overnight but later that same day the doctor called personally with the news.  X-rays showed large mass throughout Katie's body.  He outlined the treatment options as well as the terminal solution.  It's what I choose.  There was no judgment on his part.  When the time came, the doctor and staff were pretty good.  I assume they have to do this often but they realized we don't.  It was just before closing but they didn't rush us.  My youngest daughter brought a blanket to wrap Katie in and they offered to have her lay on it instead of the cold table.  My daughters asked and they consented to allowing all of us into the room during the procedure.Again the doctor detailed what was going on in a technical way.  But he did assure my 9 and 13-year old that it was painless and an appropriate decision to cease the dog's pain.  He shaved her front paw, inserted a needle and over the next 30 seconds or so while my wife and two daughters petted her, Katie drifted to sleep then died.  The staff was very professional in a sensitive situation.
