Dr. Allen Turner DVM, established in Fort Thomas, strives to implement veterinary practices as an extension of trust and care for animals and their owners all over Kentucky. Dogs might need longer periods to progress from one step to the next, or they might need your permission to explore the tools. The clinic employs methods to prevent overstimulation and distress by adjusting techniques to the specific animal species and ensuring an emotionally intelligent approach. It sees the company’s owners as equal partners no matter their level. Veterinarians employ pet owners’ observations about their pets’ home behavior, such as after-storm activities, sleeping proximity patterns, and reactions to new texture experiences, as part of their clinical data. Dr. Allen Turner DVM provides medical support in various fields, including preventive planning, diagnostics, internal medicine, nutrition guidance, multi-species dental care and senior pet wellness. The timing of each step is aligned with how long the animal can remain calm and focused. Some pets undergo diagnostic tests that involve multiple visits, while others have plans for paired visits in place for anxiety-reducing benefits. Exotic pets employ a slightly different management technique that seeks to avert the possible exposure to stress and other related ailments. Following discharge, families receive instructions (via phone or text messages) on observing these behaviors and on how to determine when the pet is ready to resume normal sound or activity interactions. Each treatment plan carries a rhythm, and timing is everything. Dr. Allen Turner, DVM, leverages his emotional compass to interpret each animal’s physical language and timing needs for less stress as he administers veterinary care to Fort Thomas pets and families and those from surrounding Kentucky areas.

I have taken my dog to this vet for 7 years and recommend them to everyone I know based on their great prices and excellent care given to my dog. Also the staff over the years has only made me feel welcome and at ease. That being said, my dog has behavioral issues, which is well known by the staff. It is also something I immediately tell anyone handling my dog. The assistant manager and head receptionist who does not handle my dog for any reason has always made a point to loudly and repeatedly say how horribly behaved my dog is anytime I check in or out. It is very embarrassing and always adds to the anxiety I have about bringing him in. The whole waiting room looks, giggles, or glares every time she announces just how bad his behavior is. I wish she was as understanding a d professional as the rest of the staff. Read Less

Good things: 1) Great people who care about your pets and are easy to work with 2) Reasonable prices 3) My poor puppy dog had been sick for quite a while, and the more expensive vet I had been taking him to kept saying "He has fleas. This is an allergy." Well, we got rid of the fleas, but he stayed sick and the vet kept saying fleas. We took him here and in 5 minutes the doc said "He has thyroid problems." He gave us a prescription for him ($12 a month) and he's back to being his old, happy self. These people are fantastic and clearly in the business because they love animals as much as we do. The day of my appointment I was greeted by one of the receptionists, I believe her name was Mitch, while she was apparently on the phone and computer. The other receptionist, Lauren whom I've had contact with previously was also on the phone. Both ladies looked up when I approached the desk and silently acknowledged I was there. They indicated that one of them would be with me as soon as possible. I could tell the ladies were speaking to other pet owners. As the owner of 2 dogs I appreciate the employees who take care of my dogs, in addition to taking the time answering and explaining any questions I have. When Mitch was finished with the other customer she immediately checked Blu and Sadie in for their scheduled appointment, explained they were running a little late because an emergency came in. Arrived a couple minutes early for my scheduled visit. Waited almost 10 minutes near the desk. Of the three people on desk, one was with a customer. Perhaps the other two were busy with other tasks, but they should have taken a second to at least greet me. A walk in was greeted, had her pet serviced and returned before I walked out without receiving any sort acknowledgement that I was even there. I called to express my concerns and was told the manager would call me back. Haven't heard from her and don't think I will. Perhaps the vets are great, but usually the service you receive on the front lines reflects the entire organzation. Read Less

I arrived a couple minutes early for my scheduled appointment. Waited for almost 10 minutes and was completely ignored as I stood near the desk. One person was talking to a customer, but the other two were not with clients at the moment. Perhaps, they were busy with other tasks, but they should have at least said "Hello, we'll be right with you." One tech came out and helped a walk-in who needed her dog's nails clipped. She walked right past me both on her way to the back and after she returned the walk-in's dog. I didn't receive an acknowledgement of my existence either time. I walked out after 10 minutes without any acknowledgement from any of the 3 staff at the desk. I called to express my concerns and was told the customer service manager would return my call. Haven't heard anything yet and doubt I will. Customer service really makes or breaks an organization. The vets may be good, but their techs' customer service is unacceptable. Read Less

EXCELLENT vet! I have been taking my dogs here for 12 years and they are the best vet I have ever been to! They are so caring, professional and always accommodating to my schedule. I would HIGHLY recommend them! And, they are very reasonable! My Chi had a collapsed trachea issue, where she was so sick she turned blue 3 times during her vet visit. They watched her closed, had her on oxygen for 8 hours and charged us a VERY reasonable price. I googled the cost, and Ft. Thomas animal hospital was more concerned about by pets wellness than the bill. Kudo's to them!! Read Less

took my puppy there and was told he had allergies pritchard treated him with antihistimine, dog got worse and wound up in ER with pneumonia, cost $1200, returned to them and seen turner, he treated him for a month on only one antibiotic which keep the pneumonia at bay, soon as he took him off the med he got sick again another trip to er $1000, stopped seeing him and started seeing pritchard, she did countless blood tests , x rays etc numerous antibiotics totally used my dog as a guinie pig and again everytime they stopped meds he got sick again this went on for 8 months yes I said 8 months to the tune of a total of $7000.00 and thats not a typo either. switched to another vet that never took an x ray or did blood work jsut took him off of all the crap she had him on and put him on one pill (baytril) he was totally well in 6 weeks . Had they done that in the first place and not used the milder antibiotics he would have been well the first time. I have had numerous vets tell me that they didnt treat him aggressive enough in the beginning . so because of them I spent $8000.00 on this dog. He is doing well no thanks to them!!!! I wouldnt go back there if it were free!!! Read Less

Thank you ladies and Dr. Pritchard for taking excellent care of my fur babies!!Read Less

Read Less

Great place with wonderful staff! I took my cat here for fifteen years. Three weeks ago we had to put her down and they were all very kind. I recently received a sympathy card in the mail that everyone signed and wrote a sweet little note in. I've never even heard of a vet doing something like this! Very kind-hearted doctors and staff! Highly recommend! Thank you all so very much!!

Read Less

We have been clients/patients at Ft. Thomas Animal Hospital since the 1997. Drs. Turner and Pritchard have treated 3 of our dogs and our cat. We've had serious ill and injury and eventually had to face euthanizing our elderly dog. With each situation we were given all of the options, the costs involved and realistic outcomes. They treat your pet the way you'd want to be treated by your doctor, not like your car you've taken in for maintenance. As long as we have animals, they will be our veterinarians. Read Less

Jean Pritchard is probably the best veterinarian my pets have ever been in the hands of! She is so helpful and I really trust what she says. Some members of the staff are very helpful as well, others are just rude. There was a misunderstanding in payments one day when I was there and they resolved the situation rather well which I was thankful for.Prices are MUCH more reasonable than many other places in the area, I recommend going in for a visit.
