Cornerstone Animal Care

My guinea pig had a bad eye infection, we were quick to take him to the vet the day we found out. Our first visit seemed to go good. She prescribed him some antibiotics and an eye ointment which really seemed to help. Unfortunately he lost sight in that eye which threw off his balance which then resulted to him hurting his paw. We took him back up there due to his paw and his eating habits had changed. He didn't eat as much as he did before and his bathroom habits had changed as well. This is when everything went down hill. A different vet came in and checked him out. I don't believe she knew what to do with his arm so she just gave him some more antibiotics and some inflammatories, even after I stressed he wasn't eating right. She said it was probably the antibiotics so she would switch what kind he was taking. She didn't ask for me to make a check up appointment, which I thought was strange because they had the first time I was there. After giving him the new medicine, his eating habits just got worse and worse until, unfortunately, I found out this morning that my poor baby had passed away some time last night. He seemed to be getting weaker and weaker by the day, we had planned to take him to a different vet today, since most are either closed or have very short opening hours on the weekend. Unfortunately we didn't get that opportunity. I believe it was very negligent to put him of more antibiotics when he already wasn't eating properly, and the reason for the antibiotics were not clear. His eye was already healing wonderfully, I think the extra antibiotics were just to make me think they were doing something to help his paw, however I am not a vet so maybe there was a good reason but they didn't tell me what that was. I understand that vet's are not magical, sometimes there's nothing they can do, but my pig was getting better and then after getting prescribed that second round of medicine, he was dead within a few days. Due to this, I will never return to this vet or recommend it to anyone. Read Less

5 stars all the way. This is a vet that takes the time and has the knowledge to take care of your pet the right way, the first time. I highly recommend them. They took such great care of us when my dog was sick and when the time came to let her go. The compassion for our dog and for us was truly exceptional. Read Less

I’m so thankful for the staff at Cornerstone! My dog got sick today and I was surprised to find our regular vet closed about 45 minutes early (no notice posted, etc.). The situation was all too similar to that of the dog I had to put down 2 years ago and I was afraid to wait overnight. I thought I was in for a drive to Lexington and a 24 hour animal hospital. My husband called Cornerstone and although their vet had left for the day (he called about 15 minutes before closing) they texted her and she graciously came back to work! The vet tech and receptionist stayed at work past closing time and the vet came back in despite the gross, snowy weather all to help someone who isn’t even a regular client. That really impressed me! They were also very understanding of the situation and why I was so distraught when I explained what I’ve already been through with my previous dog. Dr. Smith is absoutley best veterinarian I have ever had for my babies. Prices are very reasonable and staff are friendly and very helpful. I had to have my precious baby Lewis put to sleep after a long illness and Dr. Smith and her staff was there supporting me and my husband through it all. I've moved a lot over the years and that means multiple vets. Cornerstone Animal Care is by far my favorite. They have a wonderful and caring staff who treat you like family. Their prices are also extremely reasonable. I would pay twice as much for some services in Lexington. They are also on call for after hours emergencies. We had to take advantage of this once. They were happy to come in and check out our pooch late on a Friday night. That's hard to find outside of Lexington or Louisville. They are just the best to work with. Read Less

My fur baby Kendall has had nothing but the best experience with Dr. Smith and her staff! They are very kind and professional, Cindi in particular! She was very informational about our Yorkie and gladly answered all of our questions, which was A LOT! Dr. Smith took her time examining our baby and gave us great advice on the do's and don'ts of a new puppy. I found Dr. Kim very rude! She simply glanced at my 14 yr old cat Salem that has never been in a shelter and never been sick in his life! Her diagnosis was Herpes virus after her just a glance! She didn't even check his temp! Smh Needless to say I will never take any of my fur baby's back to this Dr ever again! Her attitude alone was rude and inconsiderate! How ever Dr. Burchett has not only givin my baby and I both the respect we deserve but diagnosed him with an eye infection and givin him the right and proper antibiotics he is now the healthy kitty he had always been through out his long happy life! Dr Smith and her staff are by far the most compassionate and kind people we have ever found in the vet setting. Someone had dropped a dog into our yard with parvo. When we couldn't find the owner we took him in as a rescue and took him for treatment. They went out of their way to help us treat him for over 2 weeks and now he is happy and healthy. This place holds a special place in my heart and I would recommend it to everyone. Read Less

The receptionist is either insane or stupid. We called in to get basic information about their services, and she refused to provide information or gave convoluted nonsensical answers. They may just have a bad receptionist, but we me concerned enough to go elsewhere. Read Less

Best Vet Clinic in Frankfort.  If you are taking your pet elsewhere, you are possibly making a huge mistake.  I did and it almost cost my dog her life.  Doctors Smith and Mattingly are amazing vets.  I don't even have the amount of time needed to describe what Dr Smith has done for my dog and me.  I 100% trust this clinic.  Their staff are the friendliest I've ever met as well.  My dog actually enjoys coming here because she loves everyone here so much.  Try them out.  They deserve your business. And your dog deserves the kind of care they provide.  I promise they will become your new regular vet clinic. Read Less

Dr. Smith and the staff are great! My dog loves her every time he's in a room waiting he hears her and whines until she comes in. He has issues with getting his nails trimmed and they're really working with him to overcome it. They're very passionate about their patients and only want what's best for them. Their prices are reasonable and I wont take my pets to anyone else! Read Less
