Blue Paw Primary Pet Care

Lexington, Kentucky
General Info
Blue Paw Primary Pet Care is a Lexington-based veterinary practice dedicated to providing quality and compassionate services to pets across the community. Situated in Lexington, USA, this clinic is renowned for its professional and well-respected approach to animal health. The expert team provides personalized wellness plans, regular check-ups, and a comprehensive range of treatments tailored to pets’ needs. Services frequently encompass Internal Medicine, Puppy and Kitten Care, Prescription Medications, Wellness Exams, Senior Pet Care, Laboratory, and Nutritional Counseling. These treatments are performed with a high level of attention to detail and focus on preventative and restorative efforts. The center is well-equipped, and the animals are always at ease while at the facility. Pet owners frequently highlight how the staff’s empathy and effective communication aid in establishing the trust necessary for pets’ consistent long-term care. Blue Paw Primary Pet Care is continually growing and establishing itself as a key component of the Lexington pet-owning community. Whether the pet is young and needs to start life healthy or old and struggling with chronic issues, the professional employees are always ready to help. Their desire to protect animals always motivates them to learn and improve their awareness of innovative trends in veterinary medicine. This ensures that every pet gets the best care possible. It also actively promotes responsible pet ownership and community involvement, making the practice an important resource for families with pets. Pets at Blue Paw Primary Pet Care in Lexington receive care based on their natural daily routines. In the morning, they’re full of energy; by midday, they’re more cautious; and by evening, they enter a decompression phase. This aligns with how Kentucky households operate in reality. The clinic looks at entry posture, explores sound sensitivity and pacing patterns, and examines focal behavior in detail. Medical examinations of the animals are also performed in accordance with their behavior patterns. The researcher checks the ears and teeth when a beast is curious, and then he proceeds to examine joints or abdomen when it becomes quiet. Pet owners need to record nuanced changes such as where the cat likes to rest or how it behaves during meals. Note any new habits like increased time spent near doors and other soft places. Blue Paw Primary Pet Care offers diagnostic procedures alongside physical examinations and preventive screenings adjusted for age, gastrointestinal stability, and endocrine treatment as well as surgical preparation and postoperative reflection. Depending on the pets’ and caregivers’ availability, the appointments can be scheduled as a full-service session or separated into two shorter visits. Medical staff prioritize tasks accordingly, based on behavioral readiness and not checklists. Families receive a report detailing the day-to-day patterns of their pet, outlining specific times when symptoms occur, what happens after stimulation, and how to monitor rebalancing. The text check-ins for the pacing chart, which goes hand in hand with the flexible timeline, ensure that follow-up care checks remain linked to the dog’s well-being rather than just clinical parameters. Blue Paw Primary Pet Care provides veterinary services to the Lexington families and Kentucky residents by supporting pets’ lifestyle behaviors and offering healthcare solutions at their homes in real life settings.

Great for low priced yearly shots and check up. But when my puppy got sick they immediately told me it sounds like he had Parvo, despite the fact that he was fully vaccinated and didn't show any symptoms of parvo except diarrhea which dogs can get from 1000 different things. I thought it was very unprofessional to scare a pet parent like that, it would be like having a baby with a cough and the doctor immediately jumping to telling them he has whooping cough without even seeing them. I switched vets immediately after that, completely unnecessary to tell me he might have parvo just because he was having diarrhea... again without even seeing the dog!! Read Less

The name is deceptive. They give you a sheet with a list of treatments and the estimated cost for each. You can decline certain things and then they bring you a new estimate with those items removed, but they add new things. (They kept pushing me for a feline leukemia and feline AIDS test, even though there is no treatment for those diseases.) I took our cat in for an upper respiratory infection and came back two weeks later when he didn't get better. On the second visit they suggested $300 worth of labs, which I declined, but I did pay for a shot of antibiotics, liquid antibiotics, a B12 shot, worm medicine, and flea medicine--none of which helped. The cat died two days later. The vet had said there was a possibility he had a disease that would attack his organs, but she had no trouble getting $200 out of me without mentioning that if he did have that disease, there was nothing that could be done. I find it hard to believe that she didn't recognize how near death he was. She said at the first visit that he was jaundiced, but instead of being straight with me about how sick he was, she gave us false hope and took our money. Read Less

Please take your pet to another vet. I took my dog in December for an antibiotic. While I was there I had them write me a prescription for flea medicine. I made sure I took the prescription with me in December and that saved me another exam. I called them in April when I was ready to get the prescription filled. She refused to fax it to the pharmacy because it had been over 60 days. I told her I had the prescription at home and I'd take it to the pharmacy myself. Ask any vet and you will find out that it is good for one year. What a disgusting thing to do to your customers. I have a vet now and I'll never go back to this place. So I asked around to find a fair priced good vet in Lexington and was directed here. I want to start out by saying they were right , this place is great . So my puppy was scratching at his ear and whining so I was very concerned. I called afford a vet and told them what was going on and they instantly were helpful!  They were completely booked for the day ,but were nice enough to squeeze me and Gizzmo  in . When we arrived we were treated as family which was nice . I asked them to give my Gizzmo anything he needed , and they did so . They treated my puppy very kindly and got us in and out within 30 mins . Thanks for that ! So when I checked out I was expecting a pretty expensive bill, but to my surprise it was very cheap ! So pleased to take my business here . I will come back regularly for my puppies health . Absolutely Recommend these guys . Thanks for healing my puppy , btw it was a double ear infection  but now Gizzmo is all better Thanks to Afford A Vet. Read Less

At first, I had a good experience there. But then when I came in to book an appointment, the receptionist told me they didn't have any records of mine, when I was in their database. I assumed they had lost my records, which wouldn't have been so upsetting if my previous vet were easier to get documents from. When I emailed them to fax anything they had to a new vet, the doctor apologized in an email that they did in fact have my records and their receptionist was new. I'm not a fan of telling someone, especially a client, something that you're really not sure of. Needless to say, I switched vets. Read Less

Though that's common and could happen any where. I love coming here because the vet is awesome and the prices are amazing. They don't over charge just to make a extra buck. I referred my brother here and now that's the only place his mastador puppy goes. Read Less

Read Less
