By far the best vet in Lexington area. I took my dog here because his stomach was acting up, normally he hates the vet and is very afraid after his visits, however here he was calm and even though he was nervous I felt he was truly given the best care. I switched to this practice after getting tired of high fees at places that I didnt feel like really had my pets interest in mind. I always feel like this practice goes above and beyond to explain to me information about my pet. The veterinarians never rush, they always take the time. My only complaint is that the front office staff is not always the most friendly. Sometimes they are rude, even on the phone to make appointments and cut me off. Not a reason that I would switch, but the demeanor of the vets definitely do not match their office staff. Read Less

Horrible Customer Service Skills. I called this clinic because my sick Dog isn't eating and needed some advice on what steps I need to take to try and get him back healthy. The lady immediately told me it would cost $50-400$ and she couldn't give advice legally. I began to tell her she was all about money because I have no problem paying that! Ask me my name show Some DAMN CONCERN! You guys should be ashamed !!!!!! Then she Hung up the phone! I still wanted my Dog to be seen! But thanks for nothing!!! To the lady that answered the phone Today !!! between 5:30 and 5:45 THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!! If you really don't care about the animals at least act like you do! Or do you only like Cats??? I took my dog to check out his leg. There was very poor communication between the tech and vet. I think that the tech was new... at least I hope that is the reason. The vet was not very sure as to what was going on so she wanted to to an xray, but also wanted to sedate my dog to get the xray done. She also said she needed to get blood work to figure out if my dog could tolerate the sedation. She then sent the tech to get a quote for the prices. I was super overwhelmed and uncomfortable with the whole experience. Ultimately, I paid the check-up price and went to another vet. I don't know if I'll go back... but I hope it was an off day. They are so good and honest and the best we have ever dealt with!! We went there off of recommendation and then our dog got cut up bad and we asked for their opinion after other places were trying to charge us like $700 and this place said honestly he's fine with medicine and being looked over only cost us like $100 for check up, examination, meds and everything. Three dogs, fifteen years. How I have loved my three rescues. Boo, a senior adoptee was an old soul clothed in fur. A ChowChow/Australian Shepherd mix was about 16 when she died in 2006. I said never again. So, I'm a dog person. When there is a hole in our hearts we must fill it. Two weeks later 6 week old Molly the Doxie joined us. Her bd was 6/6/6, died an hour ago on 5/26/17. A sweeter angel never was. By the time she was three months old I saw to it the puppy mill in another state where she was born was closed. Max the Yorkie was so badly abused at 5 1/2 months old he already had a collapsed trachea from being kicked by the son of the woman who owned him. He was born tax day, 4/15/07. Dr. Headley and Dr. Hastings and all their staff are just plain wonderful. Have been with them several years now and they have done so much for our kitties, from checkups for our kitten Nutmeg, to getting Ladybug through heart disease, to kind care and solace when our darling Muffin was at life's end. I feel happy and comforted when I walk in: there's a pleasant bustle, Sparky or one of the other office companions might be wanting a pat, and people are chatting, or talking seriously, in the way people do when they know and are comfortable with one another. I started going to Chevy Chase Animal clinic when I got my dog Knox in 2015. I have nothing but amazing things to say. Both Dr. Headley & Dr. Hastings are amazing along with all the staff that help them--they are so passionate about animals. A few weeks ago I called frantically because my dog had eaten a lot of chocolate and they were quick to take me in (& it was close to closing time). They kept reassuring me that everything would be okay-after I was getting ready to leave they told me to call them tomorrow so I could give a full report on how he was doing. I love the staff here. We've been taking our kittens here ever since I got involved with a man with cats --13 years. I've taken the kitties here for everything from new kitty shots, annual rabies vaccines, to the most recent, bladder surgery. The staff is great. I know my pets will be well taken care of Every time I drop them off. Most recently, my cat had bladder stones. This is not a good thing and an even worse thing for boy cats. The doctor explained all the options and ultimately, I chose to have my cat have the surgery. It was the best option for him and I knew he was in good hands. Everything went as planned. The surgery went well and my cat is loopy, but not in pain and happily eating. This place really is great. Read Less

What a refreshingly friendly and accommodating place. Someone always answers the phone (a human person) and they are always ready to talk you through whatever you need. One incident that comes to mind is when my sweet dachshund was stung by a bee. As a first time dog owner, I was, admittedly, borderline hysterical when her muzzle swelled up significantly. They talked me down, got her an emergency apt, and were incredibly helpful and comforting every step of the way. The facilities are charming and welcoming and all of the vets and staff are so sweet, doting on my pup every time we come in. I hear horror stories about people who have to drag their dogs into their vet because they're afraid of going; I don't think that's something any pet owner needs to worry about with this place. This vet's office is amazing and it's no wonder they've been voted as the best Vet in Lexington. That's actually how I came across them when we moved here from out of state and we were looking for a vet to bring our dog to. She had developed some kind of wound on her face that was getting infected, most likely a cat scratch that went out of control. The staff was super friendly and gushed over our dog and how cute she is. She is pretty cute!But it was our 2nd visit to Chevy Chase Animal Clinic that made us realize how amazing they are. Keep in mind that the only other time we had been in was once before and it was with another dog. We were not what I would call an established client or long time customer. This time, we had to bring in our elderly dog who was showing his age and having symptoms that don't need to be shared here. But we were pretty sure this was going to be his last car ride. We were able to schedule a same day appointment. When we arrived, we simply checked in with our name and they allowed us to bring our dog in through the back entrance. We didn't even have to fill out any kind of forms or paperwork. Dr. Eric was so kind and compassionate for our situation. He reassured us that we were making the right decision and was quite simply a Godsend. We were obviously upset and as such, so was the staff. After our dog passed, the staff told us to stay in the room with him as long as we wanted to and told us to leave out the backdoor when we were ready to go. When I asked about checking out and paying, they told us not to worry about it today and they would contact us later. It was amazing and such a blessing to not have to go out into the waiting room with other people with their pets. They simply just mailed us a bill for what we owed. And on top of that, about a week later we received a card from the Lexington Humane Society, saying that a donation had been made in our dog's name by Chevy Chase Animal Clinic. I was speechless and decided that day we would never bring our pets to anyone else. I can't recommend Chevy Chase Animal Clinic enough and if I could, I would give them 10 stars. They are the best! We first came to Chevy Chase by way of the free check-up that the Lexington Humane Society provides with an adoption in 2012. We took our new 5 year old tabby in, and thought that everyone was very professional and comprehensive with their care. I, also at the time thought the care was on the high side, but they are always very honest and upfront with pricing for everything they recommend. For that, I believe they are quite competitive for what you get.What really drove me to write this review, however, was the care that a very sick stray cat received when we brought him to the clinic. We didn't have an appointment, we didn't even know what we were planing on doing the poor guy. Yet, Dr. Melissa Egan treated him as if she would her own cat, with the same outstanding care we have come to expect from this clinic. She even cut the cost of her services (money out of her own pocket) to treat him.We enjoyed the staff and compassion that our pet received so much we plan to keep taking all our pets here while we live in Lexington.They truly live up to their title of "Best Vet in Lexington!" Best vets in town! I've tried out a couple of places and Chevy Chase Animal Clinic is by far the best I've come across. They are caring and compassionate and don't push unnecessary treatments, etc like another large named vet practice. They do what is necessary to make sure your pets are happy and healthy and are always so friendly and knowledgable. I've seen 3 different vets in the office and all were great! Recently, I had to take a pet of mine here under what were very difficult circumstances. At the time, she was very sick and old, and in the end, had to be put to sleep. Dr. Headley was very understanding, yet at the same time very honest about the situation. He has a way of explaining medical conditions and terminology in a way that all of us can understand. At the same time, he is very patient and will answer any questions you may have, without wanting to rush off to another appointment. Although my first experience with this clinic was sad in the fact that I had to say goodbye to a dear friend, I must say that I was blown away by the care offered by this clinic. And not just with the doctor himself, but with all other employees I encountered there. My dogs and cat have been patients of Dr. Headley for well over 10 years and more recently patients of Dr. Piercy. I have lived all over the US and I have never received the care that I have received here. They are extremely caring and knowledgeable in the treatment of my pets and caring and sympathetic with me when I have encountered a serious pet health problem. They are willing to get on the phone and talk with other veterinarians in other states to explore options and different forms of treatment for more unique cases. Went there twice after moving here and both times they could not seem to keep the records straight, made me jump through hoops to merely get some heartguard. The Dr. assisted me after I basically told the vet tech I was leaving and never coming back, which I appreciated, but I still had to ask twice to get a copy of my records. I'm sure the vets are highly qualified and it's in a convenient location for me but I simply can not deal with how disorganized the administrative staff is so I just can't take my dogs there. I went to an extremely busy vet clinic near Northwestern U. in Chicago for 18 years and never witnessed the kind of disarray I did there. It's a disappointment. Read Less

I train dogs professionally so I'm really really picky about my vets. Add to that a long stint working in vet's offices and a best friend who is a DVM and you get the picture. I know the dirt. :-)When we moved to Lexington finding a new vet was one of my first concerns. After consulting friends in the dog competition world and beyond I gave Chevy Chase a try. Dr. Piercy is just great and I was impressed. Soon after we moved one of my dogs developed a very rare form of stomach cancer and Dr.Piercy was a jewel and an asset. I've been nothing but impressed by the vets there (saw Dr. Eric once too, he is very down-to-earth and reasonable). The staff seems nice and compassionate and the office is clean and well managed. It's a busy place, so can get a little hectic at times, but all in all I would recommend it for just about anything dog and cat related. It's not cheap, but it is reasonable for the care provided.UPDATE: Dr. P isn't practicing there anymore...such a bummer. I will be time to take the girls in for their yearly physicals soon, so I'll have to check out the new vet and let ya know. I have high hopes. (9/10) Read Less

I cannot believe this clinic has not been reviewed yet. Really, they are the best!!Dr. Eric Handley is the best vet I have ever taken my pets to visit. He is thoughtful, caring, goes above and beyond, and has the skills you want in a vet.We started bringing our cats to Dr. Eric and thought he was pricey at first for routine issues like shots and neutering but I had only been to one other vet and didn't really know much. Then we started to have problems and Dr. Eric was a god send!First, our cat had a problem with her eye. Dr. Eric thought she might have cancer and sent us to a specialist he knew outside of town. Yup, cancer in her eye and it had to be removed. Dr. Eric did it in his clinic with expert care and precision. Gracie looked like she was winking all the time but didn't seem to miss the eye at all.Another one of our cats had kidney failure. Dr. Eric gave us all of the options for treating, never even offering to put him to sleep at that point because he knew we wouldn't. Dr. Eric helped keep our cat happy for another 14 months. He even offered to visit our home to put our cat to sleep when the time came.Our old hound dog liked him and Dr. Eric was knowledgeable about the health certificates we needed to take our 2 cats and dog to Europe with us.We found a stray cat with injuries which Dr. Eric gave us a great deal on services because we were helping a cat out. Another cat I found hit by a car and took him in and Dr. Eric stayed past closing to help the cat even though we didn't know where the cat lived.He is also the vet who saved the "cat with no face" who has been in the news.Oh, the staff is warm and friendly and wonderful too!Dr. Eric is a wonderful, thoughtful, big hearted individual and vet who I would trust with any one of my animals.We miss you Dr. Eric!!
