My family and I booked this tour during the Horse Country meet your neighbors event. This was such a great tour and facility. Jamie and Sara were out guides this day. They have a little conference room set up with pictures of history of those  that have worked there and medical vices they have been over the years. We toured their surgery center where we were able to watch them perform on a colicky horse that became an emergent situation. The horses intestine when stretched out is the length of a football field. We also toured the medicine center. This is where they take care of orthopedic medical necessities and mare and goals and NICU for the babies. Our guides were friendly and nice and interacted with the kids to keep them engaged. I don't have enough words to describe how wonderful this hospital is! The faculty is top notch, but what makes it the best is the staff - EVERYONE is wonderful and truly cares about your animal. My horse had colic surgery in the late night hours on a holiday weekend and it was as pleasant as something like that can be. I recommend them to everyone! We had a dying horse on our hands, on a Friday evening. Once our local vets realized that there was nothing more they could do, Hagyard was consulted and we left for Lexington, KY. Pulling in at midnight, a tired staff met us. The staff assessed the horse and surgery was the only option for him to live. After the surgery, we went to a hotel to sleep. We returned at 6am, to find the staff recovering the horse and moving to another surgery. Being in the healthcare field and having traveled internationally for work myself, the staff's professionalism, care and dedication were comparable to the top human healthcare universities. Seeing the women healthcare professionals there that morning, made an impact on our high school aged daughter and her sense of value. They provide excellent care and their unrelenting effort for horses is obvious. Thanks for being so awesome!Read Less

First Class Operation! My wife and I recently had the opportunity to tour the Hagyard Equine Medical Facility, what a show place. We were able to view a leg surgery up close and personal and speak to the Veterinarian as he performed the surgery. Take the time and tour this facility, it's an eye opener to modern equine medicine. What a wonderful facility with such a caring staff! As we head home after my horse's knee surgery I am so grateful we were able to have it done here. The staff welcomed us and kept us informed from beginning to end. We were permitted to be with her during x rays, at which time we met Dr. Rodgerson. He showed us the films, went over possible senerios, and was honest about her racing future depending on the surgical outcome, which we appreciated. After surgery we were allowed to see her on video in her recovery stall then got to go in after she was up. We got very thorough post care instructions, all her medications from the on site pharmacy and a great send off. A huge thanks to the entire staff for taking excellent care with my girl. Hopefully, she'll be up to racing again before the end of the quarter horse racing season at Indiana Grand. If not, look out Hialeah!Read Less

I watched surgery being performed on a horses leg via a monitor!! I was amazed and as an animal lover and owning 3 horses of my own, I wanted to apply for a nursing position as I had performed side by side with other drs. What better way of being a nurse combining it with love of horses!! Unfortunately my husband and I separated & my dream did not come to fruition. I did the next best thing, I moved to Montana. But not having that opportunity will haunt me til the end of time!Read Less
