Residents throughout the rest of Kentucky book appointments, and many clients travel from the suburban and rural areas surrounding Lexington to attend. Veterinary medical records need to be kept up to the standards so that the pet’s history is always available, whether it comes in for yearly or monthly check-ups. THEY HAVE A RADIOLOGIST WHO DOESNT CONSULT AND WORKS FROM HOME! I would give them -5 stars if I would. Took my yorkie to see them after being bit by a Lab and shook. They took an X-Ray that had to be read in 24 HOURS because their "Board certified" radiologist who and I quote "...BASICALLY WORKS FROM HOME" is never in. they gave me a two day supply of medication. I called the next day and they ruled out fractures and broken bones. Its been over a week since that and my baby is still whimpering, is hiding, doesnt want to move so I took him to another vet for a second opinion had the exact same x-ray sent to them and the radiologist who was actually there to talk to me said it WAS a fractured pelvic bone. She gave me 14 days worth of pain, and ant-inflammatory medication. I will try this for the next few days and if it is not better will definitely ask for a third opinion. I STILL CANT BELIEVE THEY DO NOT HAVE A RADIOLOGIST WHO WORKS THERE EVER THIS PERSON IS NEVER THERE TO CONSULT. THEY ARENT EVEN THE ONES WHO CALL TO GIVE SOLID RESULTS! The staff was kind and very helpful from the minute we walked into the clinic. After weeks of trying to find out what was wrong with my dog, Dr. Dawes was the only veterinarian, including the renown specialist at Blue Pearl in Louisville, that gave us an accurate diagnosis. The news was not good, but Dr. Dawes was compassionate and realistic. The clinic was busy but she never seemed rushed and gave us all the time we needed to ask questions and make decisions. It was a very difficult time for me and my dog but MedVet clinic provided exceptional care. I highly recommend. Read Less

The almighty dollar is worth more to these people than a precious life. I wouldn't even give one star but I have to so I can share my babies story. If you love your animals please don't bring them here if it's an emergency. I should've drove 120 the opposite direction to help my little ginger. She was my best friend for 9 years. Thursday my boyfriend called me and said she had been throwing up then a little later said he had made her a appointment for Friday because there was blood in her stool. This was around 4 and by 11 she had kept throwing up but we noticed she had a bowel movement but it was just straight bright red blood which indicated she was bleeding internally. He didn't get paid till 9am the following morning but I was desperate to find my baby help. I came here and they took my baby straight back and then 30 minutes later came in the room to me and told me they wouldn't touch her unless I had 300 dollars to give them right then. I thought they may would keep her over night so I could pay them the next morning or even put the card on file. After an hour and 15 minutes of me frantically trying to find a way to get my baby help I had no other choice but to tell them to give me my poor baby back and go home. They did not touch her or even try to make sure she was comfortable. I got home close to one and I watched my precious baby girl bleed to death. She didn't make it to 6am. So please for these people the almighty dollar is worth more than a precious life. Please please take them to somewhere else where there's compassion and humans with hearts. Read Less

I took my beautiful two year old Bull mastiff in for an ultrasound at the recommendation of my normal vet. Upon completion of the ultrasound we were assured that our dog had a foreign body blockage somewhere in his system more than likely from a corn cob he had eaten three days prior. Medvet wanted $3500-4500 to remove the "Blockage", and $1200 for overnight care if we wanted to wait and see if he would pass it with fluid. We found a vet in Richmond to do the procedure for less than a third of their cost, but here's where the story gets better. They "CONFIRMED" a "FOREIGN BODY BLOCKAGE" in our dog, and our dog ended up having pancreatitis. Long story short I wouldn't trust these people as far as I could throw them. Hope they don't take anyone else for granted with their "lack of knowledge", and their prices. Read Less

Bebo (our almost 14 year old male lab) is home, and on the mend! I am SO grateful to the team at MedVet, Lexington - specifically to Dr Cotton for giving us hope on a phone call and being open to an ER transfer, to Dr McBrien for performing a stellar surgery, and the 24/7 vet techs who kept careful watch and took all my phone calls. On Sunday, we were given NO HOPE after he was stabilized, and absolutely encouraged to put him down. Improvement was not a consideration, the prognosis poor, and it wouldn't be fair to Bebo. Take heart friends - be your own advocate! Creating space for a second opinion and a little time allowed Bebo's pneumonia to clear up, his esophagus to return to size, and provided a runway for a successful outcome with the right staff (Bebo was diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis, and had the surgery to correct it). !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Read !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend took her 5 month old German Shepherd puppy, Alice, to this place because she was suffering from a seizure, the vet (A Woman) asked for $800 to $1,000 to run tests but said that she can't guarantee that she can save the dog's life, and highly suggested that they euthanize the puppy. My friend decided against euthanizing her dog and decided to take her back home and let her pass away naturally there. Well sure enough the dog didn't die at all, in fact she was doing better that same day, today, which is a day or so later since this incident happened, the dog is back to her normal self. It blows my mind that any half-wit veterinarian would suggest killing a puppy over a seizure, dogs have seizures all the time, and most of the time it doesn't mean that they're going to die especially if they're a puppy, To me, it's very obvious that this Clinic doesn't value the life of our animals, and although they are convenient by being open late and on weekends they do not have your best interest at heart , I highly stress to anyone who goes here to get a second opinion, and to avoid going here if all possible. I took my dog in because he was ill. One said he would be there for 48 hours while another said 72 hours. I told them that I had only this much amount of money to play with and guess what, they managed to reach the full amount. After reading these reviews, I now feel that I got over charged big time, and that is why I am sending this now. A friend informed me of this forum. I understand that it is "after hours" care but still, some of the charges were ridiculous and how do I even begin to argue them. He got a grim diagnosis from one and a somewhat positive diagnosis from another, all with twenty-four hours. I was confused. To make the story even worse, we he had to put him down two weeks later, and now we are left with this inflated bill. But who cares??? After he was diagnosed with kidney disease/failure and considering the high numbers, I should have known or they should have known. He deserved a fighting chance for sure. But what do I know about this stuff. I just "trust" the professionals. Read Less

I had a great experience with MedVet! I arrived at 4AM Sunday with a sick puppy who had been vomiting most of the morning hours and then began a labored breathing which told me I needed to get her help. As soon as I walked in the door at MedVet the Vet Tech greeted me and greeted Penny (my Puppy). They took her straight into an exam room to be evaluated. The tech was super sweet with Penny. Then when Dr. Cotton came in, the first thing she did was sit on on the floor to make friends instead of trying to establish dominance (like some vet offices I have been to before). I was blown away with the level of detail and compassion they showed my puppy. They didn't jump to conclusions quickly and wanted to make sure they were not overlooking anything. I would highly recommend MedVet to Pet Parents. I left MedVet with my puppy confident that she was going to be okay and get better. I followed up with my primary Vet and MedVet had sent a report of our visit for my primary vet to be aware. Not only did my puppy feel cared for and treated but as a Puppy parent, I felt cared for by the way they treated me (a worried dog mom), and my puppy. Read Less

I gave 1 star because I had to. Don't expect empathy from anyone at the front desk at this place. Better yet, don't expect any empathy at all. My cat was euthanized Thursday, no call or anything (by the way I like the "sympathy call" line item on my bill). I guess they just expect me to know what will happen next. So I call today to see if she was there and get some information on how the process works. Not like I do this kind of thing everyday. The juvenile that answered the phone had to have been interrupted from her Instagram or something. I asked if my cat was there. Did she ask for my name? NOPE. 7-10 days is the answer I got. Is there a specific kind of box the ashes come in?? Yeah they come in a box is the answer I got. So I call my vet frantic thinking these people are going to empty a dust pan in a box and call it my cat I've had for 18 years and call it a day. So my vet calls and magically my cat is there and I can pick her up anytime. So apparently, I called MedVet to just kick it on the phone with Susie Q I don't care desk clerk. Get your people some training on how to be empathetic to people who are in my shoes. It's not like this experience is fun. Thank you for making this horrible experience even worse Read Less

I received good service. My cat was very ill and she left in great shape. Everyone was very nice and gave great service, seemed concerned and spent time letting me know her condition. I would have given 5 stars, but I felt I was gouged on the service charges. The bill was probably double a regular vet rate. The vet told me that she could go home if she stabilized and it would save me around $700. I called at 7:00 pm and she said my cat needed to stay the night. When the morning vet called, she told me that my cat had stabilized at 8:00 pm and they took her off oxygen. I told them that I wasn't working and to please only do what was totally necessary, this fell on deaf ears. I paid $1400 for a cat with asthma. Needless to say, I blew my whole pet budget, so if any others get sick, I won't be able to get the same help for them. Read Less

AKA. MedVet, as stated on the receipt. We needed immediate help after-hours (8pm) so our normal Vet office was closed. I called as soon as I realized we needed help with our dog and they instructed me to the severity of the situation and how to get there. Within 15 min of my call we arrived and they took our dog straight back without pause. Another 15 minutes later we knew exactly what was happening and the options were laid-out for us very clearly. Unfortunately for us we had a difficult decision to make. The staff were sensitive to our situation and tried to make our dog and us as comfortable as possible in out last moments together. They showed the utmost respect for our beloved pet and my uncontrollable emotion when I realized I wasn't taking him home. I know we took him to the best place possible. For inquiring minds: Emergency visit : $88Radiograph/1 view:  $134.002 doses of Fentanyl:  $12.56Nursing Care II:  $33.00Euthanasia  $250.00for a total of $517.56Payment was due before we left. Please keep in mind that these prices vary by size/type of animal and we selected a slightly more expensive cremation plan. Read Less

We had not planned where to go in an emergency and went there after the reccomendation of our vets voicemail after he was hit by a truck in the rain after dark.

Read Less

She is staying over night for needed treatment and I feel as though I have left her in wonderful capable hands. I will finish this review when I have my dog back! I saw a negative review about the cost, Medical care is EXPENSIVE! Especially QUALITY MEDICAL Care, so I knew that going in, it might be a lot of money, that's to be expected! If your pet stays overnight there is a payment plan available.THANK YOU MedVet staff (should you read this) for helping us on a most difficult night. Read Less
