I love everyone that works in this establishment. They are always so friendly and you can tell how much they care for the animals. The veterinarians are also very great with my dogs. One of them is pretty scared when we go and we have to muzzle her but they do try to talk to her and pet her in a calming way to try to help her relax. I would recommend them to anyone! Read Less

We have made extensive use of Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital for both routine and more serious care of the several dogs (5 at one time) we have had over our twenty years in Lexington. Their geriatric and end-of-life care was especially thoughtful and we will always be grateful for their gentleness, when the time came to say farewell to our beloved furry friends. Dr. Riney is my dog's vet. He loves dogs. My oldest dog had to be put down. Dr. Riney was very compassionate in the way he handled the situation, he even sent me a sympathy card. I couldn't ask for a better vet. My dog loves him and showers him with kisses when she sees him and he talks to her and pets her. He is the only vet she will let touch her. I highly recommend him. I have been bringing my fur babies to NRAH for more than 10 years. They have ALWAYS been respectful, taking their time to listen and understand the problem and reasonably priced which is icing on the cake. I also like being able to pay in the exam room and walk right out using a side door. Dr, Riney, DVM is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. He will present all of your treatment options and answer all of your questions. Staff persons are also very good. My terrier was a little monster last time and snapped at him. He handled that very well. This vet office is also well priced, and you check out in the room. This is the most compassionate clinic staff I have ever encountered! I have seen all three veterinarians here in both routine and emergency situations and have always left completely satisfied. Everyone in the office is helpful and friendly from the moment you walk through the doors. My fosters as well as my personal pets are all treated here. My one dog in particular previously hated going to the vet, however he no longer has any anxiety when walking into Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital. That alone is worth it to me. While I am confident and happy to see anyone at the clinic, I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Riney and Dr Whitehouse. I had a very sick rabbit and they graciously opened their clinic after hours to meet me for an emergency euthanasia. I will never take my dog Tucker anywhere else. The doctors always answer my questions and don't try to rush you out like some other clinics. They have even called twice since his procedure 2 days ago just to make sure he was doing well; the doctors and staff clearly care about their patients. This place is amazing. When I came to Lexington, I never thought i'd be able to find a place I could trust with my pets like the vet I went to, and had known since childhood, back home. The Docs and staff at Nich Rd Animal Hospital have thankfully shown me otherwise. Every time I walk in the staff members all stop to greet, not only me, but my dog(s). You can tell they genuinely care about the pets and not how they can charge you for an extra this or that. At 6 months, my German Shorthaired Pointer Houdini-ed his way out of his crate while I was at work and swallowed a disposable razor head, and an AC/DC iron-on patch. I didn't get home and realize it until just before they were closing that night. It would've been easy after a long day during a short holiday week (the Tuesday before thanksgiving) to tell me it could wait until the next day, but no they had me come in and they did the surgery that night. "Koufax" is now back to chasing balls, being completely out of control, and annoying the bejesus out of my 10 y/o Bassett Hound, who I've also begun taking to NRAH. You guys are the best. I recently took my cat Camp (rescued kitten 4 weeks old) and dog Oreo (senior rescue) back for their year exam and rabies shots. Dr Riney and staff was awesome as usual with both animals. I absolutely love this place and the people that work there. After only a couple visits, they'll know you and your pets by name. My cat, Lily, has seen Dr. Riney since the day I got her (May 19, 2014) he is very professional and genuinely cares for your pet as much as you do. I have been at NRAH with friends and their pets before and if he sees me, he'll ask "how's Lily doing" (after asking how I am). I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I have switched my animals to this vet starting when I first could not get into my own vet and when I stopped here after 6pm worried about my newly adopted pup. the vet was just leaving but opened up again to check out my baby. The vets here, are the greatest. We had a rescuse dog, that we fostered, named Lady. She came to us starving, only weighing 29 pounds, she was skin and bones, and pregant with 6 pups. The shelter she came from, dose not get alot of funds to pay vet bills. Lady gave birth to the pups and winged them, then she became very sick with a life threatening medical condition that required surgery to save her life. If it had not been for the vets at Nicholasville rd anamil hospital, she would not be enjoying a care free, good life, every dog deserves. I could never say thank you enough, to all they did for her. I can't say enough positive things about the veterinarians and staff at Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital. I've taken my cats there since moving to Lexington in 2003. I've now been through two end-of-life experiences with them. Dr. Tom Riney was incredibly understanding and compassionate throughout the process, listening to my concerns and talking me thoroughly through my cat's test results and the treatment options. He really helped me to determine that it was time; never pushing, just answering questions and listening to me sort through the possibilities. So, after receiving enough emails asking me to review this business on yelp, Google and Google+, and even asking them to please stop all emails, I have decided to finally buckle and review Nicholasville Road Animal Hospital(NRAH). I'll even include a photo of the email and response from a month ago. I first moved to town in 2012. Vet time for Khamir rolls around, I get a recommendation for NRAH(by someone who I now for other reasons, completely and utterly distrust). I took Khamir a few times, was never really impressed, little old, little dirty, had to take her out of room for shots. Her last visit there, they take her back for shots(grr, she is a Mommas girl and does better with me there), she comes back to me smelling like a chain smoker. Whatever, people smoke, I get it. At least air your nasty self out before touching my animal!! And yes, the smell was strong enough for me to wonder if they were actually smoking in the back. I've worked with folks who smoke on breaks, and my cat smelled worse than they did after just walking back in the door. Suffice to say, I immediately found another vet.
