Currently have a 1 year old banana ball python, and took him to be seen for a respiratory infection. They couldn't have been better. They are professional, caring and trustworthy for whatever kind of pet you have that needs care. All smiles here :)

I couldn't find another place in town to do a wellness check on my red eared sliders! They were amazing and gave my babies a clean bill of health, which was great news for a new and nervous turtle mom...

Though the staff has provided medically effective care (why I rate it a 2) for both my rabbit and my puppy, I have rarely felt respected since my first visit. I have never left an appointment where I did not feel I was treated in a subtly condescending manner by some member of the staff at least once during the visit. Today, I took my 7 month old PUPPY, who has some anxiety issues and is currently undergoing the training *Pennyroyal recommended for her*, for a check up, and they treated her as a scary, aggressive danger because she whined and barked a couple times after being startled. (Not to mention, she was behaving a little better than she used to, so I'm not sure why she was treated worse.) When she was younger, they would at least try to speak to her sweetly in the lobby and give her treats, but they acted bothered by her and I overheard someone cautiously saying, "At first I didn't remember her...but then once I was trying to weigh her I did." This is of course after I had to put their muzzle on her (in the absence of any attempts to snap) for them to take her back for a test. She is a young puppy with a loud (albeit intimidating) bark who is still learning. I felt no compassion from the doctor or technicians, particularly later after my puppy had actually done great during treatment (in their own words), and one sweet assistant attempted to speak to my dog, but the front desk worker promptly said, "No!" as if to protect her from my puppy's wrath. She could not even see that my puppy was submissively looking at this assistant and sniffing toward her. I think this clinic does great with exotic animals, and provides sound medical advice, but I cannot continue to stress my dog or myself out by taking her there. If my rabbit becomes ill, he will return to Pennyroyal, but I'll be prepared to feel like a subpar pet parent as I always do each time we leave.

Wonderful place! They have a lot of knowledge about guinea pigs and other exotic pets. Dr. Estill is the best and is always willing to work with me with the cost and explaining everything.

I have been to at least 7 vets over the course of 14 years due to moving around a lot, and this is by far the best. The staff is amazing, never rude, and always compassionate. They even call and check up on a pet if they've been in recently with an illness. I've lived here for 3 years and have had my first experiences with the loss of a pet. One just a few days ago. And they are so warm and sympathetic. I rarely have to wait very long for appointments, but if I do, sometimes you just have to be understanding that sometimes other patients need extra time. I cannot say enough about Penny Royal.

I read a TON before I adopted my miniature potbelly pig, and a good aspect I looked at was where she could receive vet care like annual shots, spay when it was time etc...I picked Pennyroyal because it was in a familiar area and shares the same name as my girl (Penelope aka Penny). I have never made a better decision! Dr. Lacki is incredible as a vet, a genuinely nice person, and sincerely gifted with animals. Pigs are notorious for not liking shots but Dr. Lacki handled them like a pro and complimented my pig baby the whole time to boot. Pennyroyal has a Facebook page where they share photos of their clients and make them feel special! Prices are fair and competitive with other clinics in the area. The staff are super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. Sometimes it can be chaotic getting a nervous or sick animal to the vet but it has never been anything but quick and pleasant coming here. Besides exotic animals they also see regular dogs and cats. I have been seeing the same small animal vet in my hometown for 10+ years and thinking of switching to bring my dogs here instead. Happy and healthy piggy approved!

Had an emergency last night. Only contacts for emergencies wouldn't see my bird. Drove from Lexington to Richmond KY. The DR in Richmond said she doesnt work on birds and to see my Vet as soon as they opened this morning due to my bird being critical . I was in parking lot when they opened and the staff acted annoyed that I was waiting. When I went inside the staff was rude and said there isn't any bird Dr's today. I asked if she could call someone because my bird is critical. She told me NO. She continued being given rude. I've went there for over 25 yrs and will never go back

I felt very involved in the process! As a (human) physician, I have high expectations when it comes to healthcare and they did not disappoint. I highly recommend them!

On call emergency Dr for my rabbit was extremely careless and rude. After convincing her that I was worried and could not do home remedies, she reluctantly agreed to "drive an hour to get there." She said nothing to me for the first 10 minutes after parking her car and unlocking the office door. I had mentioned to her that my other rabbit had been neutered elsewhere due to lack of funds, when she stated "Well if you are going to use their services, you need to use their emergency services too- But quite frankly they don't have any." My baby rabbit died the next morning. Not saying it was her fault, but I definitely feel like she cared less. Which didn't help my grief.

I have been many times with my birds. This is my go-to avian vet, but only one of their vets seems to know what they are talking about with the birds. The others handle my birds poorly, doesn't listen to me about their problems that they may or may not have, and is rude to me.
The one that is good is Padalecki or something around that. Always polite and has the best manners, VERY GOOD with my animals, and you can tell they payed attention in vet school and has a passion for what they are doing.

You will not get a call back. Not only that, their prices are insane compared to surrounding exotic and small animal vets. Please choose another location. I will not be using this one again unless it's an emergency, and my new one can't take me.

As someone who has owned several ferrets over the last 13 years, I've been to a lot of vet clinics across Kentucky trying to fit a good fit. I stopped looking after Pennyroyal! They worked very hard to make my boy Archie comfortable in his final months and were behind us every step of the way as we gradually made the decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge. They have been great with my 8 year old ferret Suki who has just started to develop adrenal disease, and is otherwise in great health. They have also been great with my foxhound mix, who doesn't mind going going there at all! Great kennel service, too!

On call emergency Dr for my rabbit was extremely careless and rude. After convincing her that I was worried and could not do home remedies, she reluctantly agreed to "drive an hour to get there." She said nothing to me for the first 10 minutes after parking her car and unlocking the office door. I had mentioned to her that my other rabbit had been neutered elsewhere due to lack of funds, when she stated "Well if you are going to use their services, you need to use their emergency services too- But quite frankly they don't have any." My baby rabbit died the next morning. Not saying it was her fault, but I definitely feel like she cared less. Which didn't help my grief.

I have been many times with my birds. This is my go-to avian vet, but only one of their vets seems to know what they are talking about with the birds. The others handle my birds poorly, doesn't listen to me about their problems that they may or may not have, and is rude to me.
The one that is good is Padalecki or something around that. Always polite and has the best manners, VERY GOOD with my animals, and you can tell they payed attention in vet school and has a passion for what they are doing.

This place is truly a godsend. Dr. Lackey has taken a special interest with my family's beardie and is doing an amazing job. I would recommend her and the Pennyroyal Clinic to everyone I can. Their compassion and will to want to save and treat every animal is above and beyond.

I run a rescue, so ive used this clinic dozens of times. The doctors can be moody, and I've seen all of them. If you have an emergency over the weekend...good luck getting help!!! You will not get a call back. Not only that, their prices are insane compared to surrounding exotic and small animal vets. Please choose another location. I will not be using this one again unless it's an emergency, and my new one can't take me.

As someone who has owned several ferrets over the last 13 years, I've been to a lot of vet clinics across Kentucky trying to fit a good fit. I stopped looking after Pennyroyal! They worked very hard to make my boy Archie comfortable in his final months and were behind us every step of the way as we gradually made the decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge. They have been great with my 8 year old ferret Suki who has just started to develop adrenal disease, and is otherwise in great health. They have also been great with my foxhound mix, who doesn't mind going going there at all! Great kennel service, too!

I've been bringing my dog here for over 2 years and have consistently been happy with the care. Dr. Gravatte in particular is top-notch. You can tell he really cares about your pet. Most importantly, I've never felt pressured or guilted into high-cost procedures.I recommend this place to all my pet-owning friends.
