We called the clinic on Saturday when our geriatric dog, Gracie, was having difficulty walking. They worked her in and provided excellent and compassionate care. They offered curbside service and carefully carried Gracie into the clinic. The staff communicated with us via phone, and updated us twice while she was being examined, so that we would know how she was doing. Her medications are helping and she is doing much better, thanks to the excellent care she received. Read Less

I can't recommend them enough! In all my many years of dog ownership, I have never had such wonderful veterinary care. They helped extend the life and the quality of life of my previous dog. They did such a wonderful job that after he passed away, I brought them homemade cookies to thank them! I have another dog now under their care, and she has had multiple issues that required special veterinary care. After every visit, they call us after a couple of days to check on our dog and make sure that she is responding well to her treatment. We have even had family come to Lexington from the west coast to take their dog here for surgery (and of course, they did a great job on that surgery, too!) My family has said that if we ever move away from Lexington, the thing we will miss most is our veterinarian! Read Less

I currently have 4 beagles (all rescue) that our part of our family. Dr. Kevin Smith has been our vet and treated every one of them for 11+ years. My latest beagle that I rescued 3 months ago Merlot has multiple health issues. Dr. Smith has been very aggressive in her treatment and calls me every other day including the weekends to check on her progress, and when he is busy Dr. Holaday will call to check in also. Maddie and I are so excited that we have a new family and it's the staff at Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic. Our first time there was this past Saturday and from the moment we walked in, we had never felt so welcome. Staff and Dr. Smith are the best! We recently had both our dogs neutered and spayed and they were great. I felt totally confident they would completely care for our dogs. Dr. Smith was available for several follow up calls during office hours and after office hours to answer questions. He also called us to make sure the dogs were doing alright. Fabulous! The staff is friendly and the vet's take the time to really give your pet a thorough exam and explain everything in detail to you. They are also mindful of cost. They're awesome. Sabo is terrified of the vets and most vets are scared of big dogs. They worked with him. They didn't have me tackle him or hold him down. He was much happier here than at Sheabel. They're also really accommodating. Their only downside is that their vets went to someplace called "Auburn." I wasn't aware there was a school there. We had a emergency and couldn't get to our vet a few hours away. I called a few places and no one would get us in. I called Richmond Road Veterinary and they immediately got us in. They took care of Crockett and they where so kind. We've since decided to make them our vets. Our vet is super sweet he goes over any questions that we have. They haven't had any problems getting us in and have been very helpful. I know that when we take Crockett to the vet he is getting taken care of. Also for a couple just starting out we are really happy that we can afford the visits. I'm glad I found Richmond road veterinary. They will take awesome care of your fur babies. Read Less

Richmond Road Vet Clinic is a great facility. They have taken the best care of my dogs. I'll always take my fur babies to them. They are very caring not only to the animals but also the owners. My 17 year old Pomeranian, Cocoa, passed away at home. It happened at 5:24 am on November 14, 2016. When the clinic opened at 7:00 am, I was there with my Cocoa. They were very kind and supportive. They placed me in a room with my fur baby so I could spend private time with her. I could stay as long as I needed to say goodbye. The clinic took care of Cocoa with dignity. Read Less

I took my 7 month old pup Cash here today for a routine check-up. I called this morning not expecting to be seen so soon. They got him an appointment and seen in 30 minutes from my phone call. Dr. Holaday, Alex, Bre, and all of the staff were so warm, welcoming, compassionate and understand! I'm a new dog mom and had a lot of questions. Most of the reviews I've seen here have involved a pet dying, and I'm sorry for that loss, but I do not like the services I have received from this clinic. I have taken my dog to see Dr. Holiday twice, and I was out $500 for a simple UTI diagnosis that I knew my dog already had. This office is outrageously expensive, and I have had no problem paying my vet bill, but the first time I went, I did not expect to have to pay nearly $300 for a simple exam and vaccine checkup. We explained to her we did not have the money immediately, and so she automatically had us sign up for Care Credit (we had just moved to the area, and of course were denied because of it), so she compromised care for our dog so she could collect. The medicine we received the first time did not work, and so we had to go back, and before she even started to assess the patient, she wanted to talk to us about how to save money. If I can pay, what is it any of her business? I have never had a late bill in my life, it's just that she charges more than most for nonsense. I am now taking my dog to a better vet (cheaper too), and have decided that RRVC is not a place for someone who is on a budget. Read Less

My 15 YO Whitey dog has had health issues her whole life, and going to the vet has been a frequent experience. Dr. Smith is by far the best and most compassionate Dr. we have been blessed with. In addition to being super knowledgeable he takes the time out of his busy schedule to personally call and make sure my Whitey girl has what she needs to mend any ailments. Absolutely wonderful clinic. When our cat developed a skin infection, we hadn't established a vet, so we went to Richmond Rd based on reviews. They were great to him. When he later got another infection, they communicated with us via email late at night to help with setting up an emergency appointment the next day. We later had to take him in for a surgery, and were really happy with Dr. Holaday's care and followup. Our bad luck kitty is now being transitioned to the indoors, and the distressed meowing is out of control. They helped us with some medication to ease his anxiety, and some guidance on how to help him handle the change. I'm really glad we ended up here - everyone is friendly and helpful, and I know that I'm getting good advice and that they really care about the animals. Read Less

Every time we visit with my pets they take their time to make sure they are thorough with them to help them get better. My older cat is shy but with the vets here he stays calm and they are so sweet and gentle. My younger cat is only about a year old and had never been to the vet before since I got her a few months ago. She was scared but they were very comforting to her and made sure they were as gentle as possible. The experience I have had with them is great and definitely worth it. Read Less

My wife has been going here for years with all of our pets and simply loves visiting here. Several years ago, this office was doing a routine procedure with a nine-month old kitten when the poor little fellah's heart and lungs gave out due to an unexpected congenital defect. This office was amazingly sweet. They called us to come over late at night when things started going poorly, trying to get us there before the inevitable happened. Even had him later cremated by our request, and gave us a pawprint impression and charged us NOTHING. ZERO. ZIP. ZILCH.And, although Veterinarian visits are often expensive, this place is quite reasonable. And they recently remodeled their facility! I can't really see us taking our pets anywhere in the near future. We will definitely visit here time and time again. Read Less

Have to admit writing this is a bit heart breaking for me. Dr. Marsh and his staff see my two cats. Staff is excellent with all the exams, very courteous, never have to wait for their appointments. Sadly, last Friday, after our kittens neutering and declaw, Crookshanks passed away. What comforts me most and has convinced me to keep bringing my Khamir here is that they were checking on my little man at 8:00 on a Friday night. Noticed some breathing problems and Dr. Marsh was on the phone with me right away. Letting me know what was happening and everything that they were doing. Sadly, Crookshanks's heart was just too weak and he slipped away a couple hours later. A small defect to the left side which was unnoticed by three vets and at least three techs was to blame. However, even if his condition was diagnosed before hand, I still would have opted for the neuter. Since he passed late Friday while we were visiting my husbands sister, we waited till Saturday morning to say goodbye to our Crookshanks. Dr. Marsh told us in detail everything that they did for our little man and I truly believe that everything possible was done for him. They even had him ready to hold and say goodbye to, again, I have to mention how awesome be caring the staff is. We opted to have Crookshanks cremated. This was done by another vet in the area, very nicely done. Even a little pressing of his big ol' man paws. We were told there was no charge for any of this when we went to pickup his ashes. I hate having to go through this. And hate that anyone ever does, but Dr. Marsh and staff are very caring and lovely people. I will recommend them to anyone I know. Read Less
