Our cat appeared to be in distress, with what could have been a bowel blockage, kidney or bladder stones/crystals, or a simple bladder infection. After two days of watching our cat deteriorate, we decided to take her to the emergency veterinarian hospital for care (it was a Saturday evening and we would have had to wait until Monday to see the regular vet).First let me point out the two negatives, one of which is inevitable. Our first contact with a tech had tears on the knees of his scrubs. That just did not make for a good impression. I'm sure he is constantly on his knees, and his job requires it. The second, inevitable thing is the price. These emergency animal hospitals can be outright prohibitive. However, this place stood out for the abundance of positives. The front desk staff was very sweet and kind, and the paperwork was minimal. We were promptly taken to an exam room and shortly after seen by a veterinarian. Although I suspect that it might not always be the case that this place is able to quickly tend to patients, the efficiency seemed very much so above average. The veterinarian was very good. I can't say I've ever dealt with a doctor with such great "bedside manners." She smiled, introduced herself, shook our hands, and repeated to us what we had told the tech what we thought the problem was. Then she informed us about the options. Not once did I feel like we HAD to accept any particular treatment. In fact, while informing us of the treatment options, she also gave us prices and alternatives. She was very understanding and considerate of our finances and was supportive of our decision. Once the decision regarding treatment was made, she reassured us that all would be fine, and if not, it was something we could address with our usual vet for a lot less money. This was an overall very good experience, one I did not expect considering I've been to two other emergency care veterinarians and had completely opposite experiences.
