Highly recommend! I just left after bringing my dog in after being attacked by another dog. The staff is so friendly and helps you to feel at ease in an emergency situation. After speaking to them, I knew my dog was in good hands. They did everything they could do to keep cost as low as possible and discussed everything with us before making any decisions. The vet was amazing and explained things very well and was just someone who makes you feel really comfortable. I will be recommending this place any chance I get! Read Less

We were referred to BluePearl by our veterinarian due to a lung tumor. We read some of the negative reviews and found that the doctors that had these negative reviews were not there anymore. We decided to take our fur baby there after a recommendation from Pet Station Country Club in Louisville. We are extremely glad we decided to take her to BluePearl. WE HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCE! They exceeded our expectations. The doctors and staff kept us well informed about EVERYTHING that they were doing and how Daisy was throughout her stay. We would recommend BluePearl to anyone that is in need of specialized care for their pet. Read Less

Actually I haven't been there yet... I have decided not to go because of all the horrible ratings. No matter all the positive experiences people might have had, there is no excuse to have all these negative ones and for the deaths of so many animals unexpectedly... and in such a short time. I was happy to have found this place after our experiences at Metro Animal Hospital where Scott Campbell essentially experimented on our gorgeous and sweet dog overnight not exactly the same words to use to put similar, and when we picked her up she could make no sounds. We really do believe that he cut her vocal cords. She was so unhappy with us she would have nothing to do with me and we were BFFs before. I went to pick her up outside in the pouring rain under a bush and practically had to drag her out and when I got it on the porch she tried to hide from me. I cannot imagine what experience you had that was so horrible that you would have nothing to do with me her favorite someone ever. She really love me and we had left her in the hands of a horrible doctor. Also they gave us a price for a surgery for her and when we finally said yes they went back and she was already strapped on the table with Ivy's either in her arms are ready for it and was beside herself. We didn't even know she was going to have surgery and we wanted to say something to her before then. And then she was going back and came up with double the amount as opposed to original amount that we need to pay so from 1300 to 2600 in a matter of minutes. Also caused the ill treatment of a dog before that one that died shortly thereafter. We just thought we didn't understand enough about the disease, but I don't think it was that at all. Another $2,000 or more for minimal and ineffective surgery. I would never set foot in there again and obviously not BluePearl now Read Less

PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT YOUR (SICK) PET TO STAY ALIVE My dog suffered from lymphoma. At blue pearl, we had to pay 2,000 for her to stay overnight, as well as 5,000 upfront for medication, which she never got to use. On a Friday, she wasn’t doing well, so we took her in to have her blood work done. The results came back supposedly fine, but the rest of the day she was acting weird. but then that Saturday she didn’t eat. That Sunday she woke up and was in very bad conditions so we took her in. We waited 30 minutes for her to be looked at. They took her and did an x-ray. We waited for about an hour for the results. We then heard she died. She ‘supposedly’ had a blood clot in her lung that they didn’t take care of, and they set my dog up for death. She could’ve lived for another 6 months but that precious time was taken away from her. We were never given a direct diagnosis of what happened to her, and when they told us the news of her death they kept asking for more money while we were crying about our dog. This place only cares about the money, and set our dog up for death. If you are considering coming here for your pet’s surgery/immediate need, please read the 1 star reviews because a large amount of people have had the same problem. This place has misdiagnosed numerous pets, overcharges, and were not one bit sympathetic about the loss of our pet. Read Less

I have been to Blue Pearl several times with my cat who has chronic renal failure and have spent hundreds of dollars. Today, I took him in for a recheck plus he had recently been vomiting and had diarrhea. My wait for a 15-minute blood test was about 45 minutes during which I heard Dr. Rizzo's name paged twice to take calls. Andrea, the vet tech, came out, and started spouting off the few sentences typed on a piece of paper. I had questions. Does he have ulcers in his mouth as is typical of a cat with this disease? Andrea's response, "I'll check." Is the $135 bottle of potassium gluconate supplements the same as a $5.00 bottle at Walgreens? "I'll check." While she walked back to get answers, I spoke with someone at the counter and expressed my concerns with not understanding what's going on with my sick cat. The nice girl said Dr. Rizzo can speak with you. She took me to a room and Dr. Rizzo walked in, seemingly rushed, and started to tell me the same thing the vet tech Andrea had just spit out. A lack of compassion, a poor bedside manner, the appearance of being reluctant to let me ask questions, and a healthy dose of ego, was simply too much. I walked out. I had questions and didn't feel my concerns mattered. The logical conclusion is that this organization is money-hungry. $135 for a $5 bottle of supplements? Blood work for twice the cost of my regular vet. Price gouging because they operate 24/7. And the real kicker - no one wants to take the time to sit down and interact with the customer, ask if they have questions, ask what concerns do you have? Based on this recent visit, I can't help but question this organization's integrity, business ethics and whether or not they truly care about the animals and owner concerns. A disturbing experience. Excellent service right from the start. My girlfriend and I had found a kitten meowing at our apartment door yesterday morning. It was storming and we had figured maybe she was trying to find shelter away from all the rain. We decided to take her in and give her a warm spot. We wanted to keep her. She had done fine earlier that day but close to 10 o'clock that night, she seemed to start going downhill: losing energy, not eating, feeling cold, going limp. We tried giving her a warm bath and wrapping her up in towels only find out there was a massive infestation of fleas on her body. My girlfriend decided to look online for a 24 hour animal hospital to take the kitten to. We came across Blue Pearl and decided to give them a try. We had to drive one hour to get there. As soon as we arrived, Triage had taken our kitten (whom became unresponsive) before we could even blink. The girl from the front desk brought us into a room for our doctor a few minutes later. Doctor Cullman came in and notified us that the kitten was suffering from anemia due to all the fleas that infested the kitten's body and would either need a blood transfusion which would cost us almost $1,500 or euthanized which costs $70 plus $35 for cremation. We already struggle with money alone and with the extreme critical state the kitten was at this point, we decided to go with the euthanasia. A nice man who was also getting his cat put down came in and told us he would pay for the euthanasia for us, which made our hearts swell with joy. Doctor Coleman also told us to not worry about paying the $94 fee that we would have to pay for being seen. We did not have to pay a single penny last night. The staff was also very kind, sympathetic, and patient with us as well as quick and thorough making the euthanizing process easier to cope with and to understand from the moment we set foot inside this facility to the very end. Never have we had such incredible service for our fur babies like we did with Blue Pearl. They made it even easier for my girlfriend as she was the most emotional with everything going on since she's such a huge animal lover, especially for cats and kittens alone. It broke my heart to see her feel so helpless and distraught from everything but with such caring staff, she was able to leave with peace of mind. Read Less

Bait and Switch My male cat was treated for a UTI by our regular vet about a month ago. However a few weeks later, this past Saturday, he was in obvious pain and struggling to use the litter box. Our regular vet was closed and they recommended Blue Pearl. As others have said, I don't like them taking my cat to examine without me present, but okay. The vet, who was very nice, came out to tell me that they felt he may have a blockage which is not that uncommon. She said she would work up an estimate to have him stay overnight and be catheterized and treated. An associate came out (the money person I guess?) and told us his treatment would be between $1,100 and $1,800. WHAT??? Okay - it's a cat - we love him, but there are a lot of cats in shelters that need good homes and I'm not about to spend that kind of money on something that may just continue to occur and have my pet in pain. I told them that they would need to put him to sleep but that I wanted to go get my husband first so he could say goodbye. I returned 15-20 minutes later with my husband and we reiterated that unfortunately, we would have to have the cat put down. She suggested that we try for a Care Credit card. I explained that it had nothing to do with not being able to pay them, it was more complicated than that. Suddenly, they found a $350 option which involved catheterizing and flushing his bladder then sending him home that evening with some medication. They put us through emotional hell. Seriously - we almost put our cat down because he got sick on a weekend and we took him to Blue Pearl rather than being able to take him to our regular vet who is very reasonable. I felt like the entire visit was a sales job so that they could see just how much money they could get out of us. I will be looking for another ER vet if we need one in the future. Read Less

I was referred to blue pearl because they were supposed to have the leading specialists. I could not be more disappointed in my experience. The care my dog received is beyond substandard. He has had significant problems since his initial surgery and it has been extremely costly. He has had 2 surgeries and 2 sedated procedures due to complications from the original procedure. I expressed concern during the entire process but felt dismissed and ignored. I lost all confidence in the staff at blue pearl and took my dog somewhere else to have the problem fixed. Was referred to Blue Pearl by my regular vet because my wonderful doggie might have lymphoma and my vet could not confirm the diagnosis using her available instrumentation.   I can hardly type this because of the sad sentiment.   For a firm diagnosis, she needed an ultrasound of the lymph nodes and of her abdomen. So, I called to make an appointment and was able to get one the next day.  (I wish this could happen with my medical needs).  I was greeted warmly by a staff person and, as a new patient, I had to fill out one sheet of paper. After returning the paperwork to the desk, we  waited only briefly before a technician called us into a consultation room.  The technician listened intently as I related the recent medical history, which included the reason for our visit.  My dog and I were handled very gently and with much empathy.  Any medical issue that they considered was explained thoroughly to me before any tests were run or blood taken.  I appreciated their openness, honestly and consideration.  Because they are specialists, the prices are expensive.  But it is worth the price for peace-of-mind and the xcellent medical care of my doggie.  In the end, my dog did not have lymphoma (thank goodness). Late one night my ManCoon cat of 14 years who was actually 19 years old fell ill. We were very nervous my daughters and I and needed to get him seen immediately. I looked up the closest 24 hour vet and this is what was recommended. As soon as we got there the staff was immediately on top of getting the proper care for our cat Bangor. Unfortunately after a few minutes in the room he became even more incoherent and the nurses there took him to another room to examine him without my daughters being present. While they were in the other room he took his last breath. There was nothing they could do to save him that night it was just his time the blessing was that this facility offered services for him to be cremated as well as brought back to us with Memorial gifts such as his paw print in clay a beautiful cherry box to hold his remains and they provided me with information for Care Credit to cover the cost that came with the services. The staff was very gracious and courteous to her needs they showed so much sympathy for us as they could see how upset we were by the loss of are pet family member. One of the worse pet experiences as a pet owner is finding your pet after they have passed away. After a super quick google search for emergency vets, Blue Pearl was the first to come up. I phoned and spoke with a very nice lady who informed me that they could provide a cremation service for my cat Cali. They welcomed me to bring her in immediately and said that they would take care of her. As I arrived my roommates and I were seated in a 'comfort room' where we were told the doctor would look at Cali and confirm she had passed as well as discuss some cremation packages. A nice man brought a exam table out to my car and he got my cat, then moments later wheeled her into the room in some blankets. We were given as much time as needed for our grieving. The staff was very patient and apologetic for my loss. I was sent home with a keepsake clay paw print, as well as a card with a paw print in it as well. Overall I was highly satisfied with the care, consideration and service provided by Blue Pearl. Read Less

In the end our little dog could not be saved and they were gentle and empathetic through this process. They have a special room for those whose pets need the last solution. This room has a private exit so we were able to take our grief out by ourselves and so we did not have to exit the building in front of a group of other pet owners who were dealing with their own pets' health. We did have our little dog cremated through them. The charge was reasonable and the ashes were returned to us with 4 days. We received a sympathy card from the doctor who treated our little guy and she had made a last footprint for us as a keepsake. Very touching, and indicative of the caring staff we met at Blue Pearl. Our cat appeared to be in distress, with what could have been a bowel blockage, kidney or bladder stones/crystals, or a simple bladder infection. After two days of watching our cat deteriorate, we decided to take her to the emergency veterinarian hospital for care (it was a Saturday evening and we would have had to wait until Monday to see the regular vet).First let me point out the two negatives, one of which is inevitable. Our first contact with a tech had tears on the knees of his scrubs. That just did not make for a good impression. I'm sure he is constantly on his knees, and his job requires it. The second, inevitable thing is the price. These emergency animal hospitals can be outright prohibitive. However, this place stood out for the abundance of positives. The front desk staff was very sweet and kind, and the paperwork was minimal. We were promptly taken to an exam room and shortly after seen by a veterinarian. Although I suspect that it might not always be the case that this place is able to quickly tend to patients, the efficiency seemed very much so above average. The veterinarian was very good. I can't say I've ever dealt with a doctor with such great "bedside manners." She smiled, introduced herself, shook our hands, and repeated to us what we had told the tech what we thought the problem was. Then she informed us about the options. Not once did I feel like we HAD to accept any particular treatment. In fact, while informing us of the treatment options, she also gave us prices and alternatives. She was very understanding and considerate of our finances and was supportive of our decision. Once the decision regarding treatment was made, she reassured us that all would be fine, and if not, it was something we could address with our usual vet for a lot less money. This was an overall very good experience, one I did not expect considering I've been to two other emergency care veterinarians and had completely opposite experiences. I would actually give them 4.5 stars. I have used Blue Pearl for emergency visits and non-emergency visits over the past year for my kitty. The staff is very helpful and friendly. From the time spent there, I noticed how they quickly and efficiently they push aside all else to prioritize any situation where the animal's life is in jeopardy. (In some cases, this may mean longer waiting time for you and your pet. However, I do respect their decision to treat those who are in critical, life-or-death conditions first.) Further, if you are fortunate to get him, Dr. Cummings is a terrific vet. He is personable, patient, and informative.) My only hesitation with Blue Pearl was a one-time situation where there was a push to do surgery, that I felt like was a premature recommendation. My kitty is 17 and we had not even received results from lab work-ups that had to be sent out. Thus, my only recommendation is to sit on the idea of surgery, if recommended, so that your emotions (as in my case) don't inform such important decisions. If you know the latter going in, then I think you will love Blue Pearl and be glad you opted to use them. Read Less

My beloved golden retriever got sick last week. After taking her to my regular vet, I was referred to BluePearl for a specialist's opinion on her condition. The staff was patient with me as I bawled over the phone making the appointment, as I cried in the lobby giving them her background info, and as I sobbed in the exam room. It was heartbreaking to get bad news about my baby, but they treated her with the gentlest touch and offered me several options for treatment. They gave me such respect as I determined what I thought was best for my girl. They called me that evening and the following evening to get her condition and reminded me that they were open 24/7 if there was an emergency. When I made the extremely difficult decision to bring her in to end her suffering at 5am they let us spend a long time together in a comfort room. I laid on the floor and hugged my angel one last time and told her how much I loved her. The vet walked me through the two-step process and warned me some animals react differently to the drugs. My girl was so sick she went very quickly and the vet offered me additional time to be with her. They kept her for me until the next day when we were able to bury her. I would bring my other dog here in a heartbeat if she ever needed immediate care. They were truly compassionate and so tender at a time when we needed it. Thank you for the kind service you provide. A couple of weeks ago, my cat had the unfortunate luck of snagging himself on something outside.  I had to take him to the BluePearl at 9PM.  I am pleasantly surprised as I entered the immaculate facility.  The front staff were friendly and helpful and explained the admission process to me in detail since this is my first experience.  Later, the vet came out to greet me and gave me treatment options in detail.  I was given a carefully estimated quote.  I left feeling that I have left Frank in capable hands.  The office also phoned me and updated me on the wait time after they admitted two other more critical cases.  I finally picked up Frank around 2am.  The vet came out to explain the procedure again.  The bill for Frank's care was exactly in the middle range of the quote given to me.  Looking at the detailed breakdown:  I feel that the only part that might have costed more than my regular vet is the $89 examination fee.  The staff also called to check on Frank's progress.  Long story short, Little Frank is doing just fine now.  I certainly do not wish to need the services of emergency care anytime soon, but if I do, I will not hesitate to come back here. The doctors and associated staff at Blue Pearl are of exceptional status. I couldn't speak more highly of the service and the care provided to our dog. After learning that our dog would need to stay overnight for at least one night (ended up being two), I was relieved to know that we could visit her anytime we wanted--literally. My fiance and I took Blue Pearl up on this offer (twice) and the staff couldn't have been more kind and accommodating; during our evening visits we weren't given a timeline of stay nor were we treated as if our unscheduled visit was a bother. The veterinary care and bedside manner provided by Dr. Becca Hodshon was also top-rate. Her intellect and care are impressive and immediately apparent. Any and all of our questions were answered and we were never rushed during our appointments or telephone calls. This was our second experience with BP (the first was after our dog ate chocolate) and both instances receive 5-star ratings. Read Less

I literally never write reviews for anything, but my experience here was so incredible I had to come and share it with everyone.  I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. My 10 month old puppy woke up paralyzed one morning.  I took him to a DIFFERENT emergency vet right away, who told me unless I paid $5,000 for a surgery my pup would never walk again.  That wasn't in my budget, and the vet told me I needed to put him down- that he would never walk again.  Distraught, I brought my puppy home so my boyfriend could say one last goodbye... Then we PLANNED to euthanize him the next morning together. That night however, we decided to go get a second opinion (even though first vet seemed 100% positive of the condition)  We went to BluePearl, since it was one of the few places open.  The staff was so kind.  I will say this, we had to wait about 3 hours, but I would have waited 3 more for the great service we received. The staff was so kind.  They checked in with us regularly, and answered all our questions.  Then the vet came in- Dr. Cullman-Clark!!! I ADORE THIS WOMAN!  She was so kind, apologized for the delay (we had come on an unusually busy night), and took her time with us.  She did not rush us one bit.  She suggested it was a different condition, and said to wait a few days and look for improvement.  She even went to the back and MADE us a sling out of medical material to help him walk. Well guess what guys- 3 days later and my little pup is out there running around and walking!! Almost back perfect, although he cant go up or down steps yet, its only been 3 days.  If I had trusted the first vet, he would have never even been given a chance, or I would be $5,000 in debt!!Not only that, but the Dr. Cullman-Clark called me to check on us, and then called again on her OFF day to check on my puppy and me!! How kind is that? She thinks he should be  back normal within a week or two. I would suggest ANYONE in any type of emergency situation to come here first before anywhere else.  I have never met anyone who so genuinely cares about their patients.  THANK YOU BLUEPEARL Read Less

At 2 am there are only three veterinarians in the city who are open.  When my cat had a sudden late night illness I brought him here.  The staff was friendly and the vet spent a lot of time explaining exactly what was wrong with my cat.  I was surprised and a little unhappy to learn that I couldn't be present in the exam room though.  Regardless, the treatment that he received seemed more than adequate.   The vet gave me a detailed print out of the diagnosis,  treatment, and recommendations.   I paid $208 for the exam, ultrasound,  urinalysis, and two filled prescriptions, which I thought was extremely reasonable.  Overall I wouldn't hesitate to use this vet again in a pinch. My daughter took here beloved cat that was 9 years old here and the veterinarian was horrible to my daugjhter. My daughter lives paycheck to paycheck and they wanted to do surgery at 1100 dollars to maybe make the cat better with a future of kidney failure and repeat visits.. When my daughter said that she could not afford this option and we had to put the cat down. The vet got so nasty she told here she should not ever have any other animals. She was rude to her, showed no compassion at all and had my daughter in tears. She cared for this cat for nine years and it has been to the vet many times for the bladder blockage and spent hundreds of dollars on this cat. I would never recommend this vet to anyone. I took my 10 year old Rottweiler to LVS because she had not been able to walk on her front leg for months. Our regular vet told me it was probably arthritis, did not even do an x-ray, prescribed rymdial anti-inflammatory. The meds seemed to help for awhile but not solve the problem, it just got worse until she had a large swelling in her shoulder joint. I took her to LVS, all of the staff were very polite and helpful. They did xrays, examination, and cellular sample. They were able to tell me that day the diagnosis was cancer and outline all the treatment options as well as approximate costs. Unfortunately, all the treament options would have been very painful and would not have saved my baby's life. LVS gave me enough pain meds to ease her discomfot until it became necessary to put her to sleep (about 6 weeks later). They sent all the necessary information to my regular vet so I was not troubled with having to update them in order to renew her prescriptions. Their office is very clean and technologically up-to-date. I wish LVS did routine care as well as specialty, I would take all my pets there.

I definitely would not recommend blue pearl to anyone. Read Less

We have had our dog the same length of time and I will not go anywhere else but to this location. Read Less

Read Less

Arrived at Blue Pearl as an out of town visitor on Christmas night. My older dog was having a stroke. The staff was extremely patient and caring. They explained everything to us in detail and they gave us all the time we wanted to process the information.

Without going into too much detail its been a very bad week me and for my sphynx cat of 4 years. After his needing an ER visit at 2:30 in the morning (a first for me) my local vet couldn't find the problem and instead recommended making the drive across the river to BluePearl. After testing it was discovered that he has serious heart disease and well each day of the remaining 6-12 months will be a blessing. I was impressed with the high tech equipment that this hospital uses, with the work that Dr. Rizzo provided and with the staff. I also asked if the four medications that my boy would be on had to be purchased through Bluepearl since this is a 45 minute drive and the good doctor said that my meds could still come from my local vet.

Read Less
