I have extremely negative remarks about this establishment. My 10 month year old kitten started off with an eye infection. I thought this would be a simple fix, so I brought him to this clinic. After meeting with the vet, they concluded that it was an eye infection and that he had somewhat of a fever and to get some eyedrops and a shot for his fever. (Another thing to add, this place is extremely expensive). After getting the eye drops and using them on my cat for about 2 weeks, he showed no signs of getting any better. I took him back. The same thing was said is that he had a fever and still an eye infection. This time they gave me different eye drops and oral medication to feed him for his fever. I had a follow up appointment 5 days later. I came in for the follow up appointment with my cat showing no signs of getting better and this time I asked if they could perhaps test him to see if there is underlying reason for the infection and fever which they responded by saying they do not test there for diseases and whatnot. (This is very weird). After saying they did not test, they said they did not know what was wrong with my cat and for me to go somewhere else that "specializes" with cat eye infections. They again charged me and had me buy medicine to put into his food to fight off any viral infections if there were some. After another week of him not getting better, one night randomly he lost control of his bladder and peed multiple times everywhere in our apartment. I took him to an emergency vet to see what was really going on here. And after meeting with the other vet, 2 days later my cat had a seizure and was taken to an animal hospital. Turns out he had liver failure and a tumor on his bladder. Not only did the Cherokee Animal Clinic not figure out what was wrong like they are supposed to do since this is THEIR JOB, they also pushed back the pain my cat was in for multiple weeks instead of figuring out the issues right away. He was only 10 months old and the reason they said not to worry about testing is because he was "too young". I think the veterinarians here are incompetent and only out for money to be honest. I ended up paying over $300 for medicine that was not working and for them to not take my concerns seriously. This is disgraceful and I hope everyone takes some time out of their day to read this before taking your own pet here if you have some complications. Not a safe place for our furry little friends, actually, FAMILY. Read Less

After spending 1k on my cat in one year, I finally went somewhere else after another failed treatment of a reoccurring ear infection. I was right to get a second opinion because the new vet was able to explain (the horrendous) bacterial ear infection and heal it completely within two weeks. Where as Cherokee couldn't explain it or heal it in the course of a over a year. My cat also tested positive for FIV, which Cherokee failed to inform me about after two expensive blood tests. This is the only place I ever took my cats to and the vet always seemed to do a great job. Until a couple years ago when the vet said one of my cats (Grayley) had hypothyroidism (causes animals to lose massive amounts of weight - opposite for humans). The vet gave me pills to give to him once a day and said it should cure him. I gave him the pills regularly and noticed he had not been getting any better. I waited a couple months and still no change. I then took him back to the vet and they said he was fine and kept the dosage the same. This went on for two more years and still no progress. He never got worse, but never improved. Two weeks ago I took him back for another check up. I told the vet the current dosage was obviously not working and he needed to recommend something else. The vet took a lot of blood and increased his dosage 4X (an increase of one to four pills a day.....) Grayley was 3 pounds at this time and literally all skin and bones. You could look at him and tell how weak he was. The next day after the appointment, I woke up to find Grayley in the same spot as I left him the night before, covered in his poop and pee. He could not move a muscle and could not even make it to his litter box. I had never seen him this bad before. Grayley used to be the friendliest cat even when he was first diagnosed. I would come home and he would meow like he was happy to see me. Now, I hear nothing.. He has lost his entire personality and sits in the same spot all day unless I move him. I called the vet and told them what was going on and they could not offer any suggestions. I found it preposterous to find a "licensed" veterinarian could not recommend a solution for a common disease in animals. This has been going on for three days now and I fear Grayley is near his end. I find it very sketchy that as soon as he came back from the vet he took a drastic turn for the worse. Either they took too much blood (which is entirely possible considering he barely weighs three pounds) or they do not know what the hell they are doing. Most likely both. All I can say is do not take your animal to this veterinarian. They are neither knowledgeable nor caring and basically made my poor Grayley's life a lot shorter. I am in tears over this. DO NOT GO HERE. Read Less

The experience I received at Cherokee Animal Hospital is far less than satisfactory. Not only are they difficult and rude when it comes to an issue you may have with their service, but they are over-priced when matched with the other animal clinics in the area. There was a similar review that noted how the physician would prescribe medications and perform certain procedures without asking the owner of the pet. I second this statement. They have charged me with medications and services that I have not agreed on in the past. Upon being called to have your pet seen, they will begin their standard protocol of checking your pet's temperature, heart, hair, ears, and weight. You will notice that they speed through these tasks and even through the actual issue with the animal with a sense of urgency, despite their waiting room being completely empty. After all this is said and done, you will have your medication and your bill. You will find that regardless of what you have came in for that you will be charged an unnecessary fee of $11.25 listed as an "office visit" and then you will have another fee of $33.00 for the "doctor exam / routine," which sounds almost synonymous to the latter fee. As I mentioned before, you will pay the amount of $44.25 per every visit you make in addition to whatever other services and medications that they may have gave you. The only exception to this is if you have a follow-up visit to your previous appointment to which they only remove the "office visit" fee of $11.25. The point of the matter is that there are many other options in regards to animal clinics and I highly recommend to make the best decision when it comes to your pets. This clinic has not only proved to be expensive but it has not operated to the standard that I would expect from a facility that is responsible for the welfare of my animal. Read Less

Read Less

The veterinarians here are experienced and they take very good care of my sweet girl. We first started going to Cherokee Animal Clinic because my she had a severe allergic reaction to fleas, which caused her to have hot spots and her hair was falling out. They are the only ones who put her on medication that actually worked!! She's happy & healthy, so I have absolutely no complaints and would recommend them to anyone.Read Less
