Crescent Hill Animal Hospital

Louisville, Kentucky
General Info
Crescent Hill Animal Hospital is a Louisville-based veterinary practice dedicated to serving pets in the local community. The clinic is situated in Louisville, United States. It is well known for its thorough and professional approach to the health and wellbeing of animals, also providing a supportive environment for pet owners. The team provides personalized wellness plans, regular check-ups, and a variety of treatments tailored to each pet’s needs. Services often include the following: Wellness Exams, Nutritional Counseling, Radiology (X-Rays), In-House Pharmacy, Microchipping, Vaccinations, and Cold Laser Therapy. These are carried out with attention to details for both preventative and responsive care. The better the clinic is, the bigger are chances of a successful diagnosis and treatment. Clients frequently note the empathy and communication of the veterinary staff, which builds long-term trust and ensures pets get consistent care. Crescent Hill Animal Hospital continues to grow as a cornerstone of the Louisville pet-owning community. Whether assisting young pets in building a healthy foundation or aiding older ones as they navigate chronic ailments, the clinic’s staff is always ready to lend a hand. Their dedication to animal welfare is further demonstrated through their continual pursuit of knowledge and education in the ever-evolving field of veterinary medicine. This ensures that every pet gets the best care possible. It also actively advocates for responsible pet ownership and community involvement, thus making the practice a valuable resource for local pet families. At Crescent Hill Animal Hospital in Louisville, the first thing Dr. Missy Jewell does is adjust her senses, not read a chart. It focuses on preventing overstimulation and recognizing warning signals to aid Kentucky pets in adjusting fully. The earliest stages of communication in a child’s development are always nonverbal. Before attempting any physical examination, the team analyzes the dog’s tail position and other spatial hesitation micro-responses. Lighting and scent adjustments in individual rooms prevent the startle reflex from the action. The timing of appointments is directed by each individual pet’s biological regulatory system. Some practitioners conduct their orthopedic examinations prior to assessing the body, while others simply scan the body based on tension patterns. Crescent Hill Animal Hospital provides cross-species diagnostics lab work, illness intervention, orthopedic support, dermatological care, and oral health services. Additionally, tests might omit some steps or change their order when animals exhibit signs like lip licking, paw withdrawal, and shifting gaze. Pain indicators like posture and breath in addition to vocalization are especially important for stoic breeds or prey-species animals. Re-acclimation into the community is supported when treatment ends. Families are taught about consistent behavior consequences and how to notice secondary stress indicators to know when decompression needs should take priority. Pet home-care programs should focus on the levels of sensory development rather than physical recovery progression. Crescent Hill Animal Hospital delivers household veterinary care through a conversational approach that recognizes the subtle ways pets communicate comfort, confusion, or calm in Kentucky homes beyond clinical results.

Dr. Rabek and his staff have always been amazing to both my boyfriend and me as we have taken our pets (rescue cats and a rescue dog) here since we moved to Louisville a little over a year ago. Around this time last year my rescue cat Oscar (my only pet at the time) was my baby and he suddenly became very very ill. Dr. Rabek fit us in to his schedule immediately and ran (and thoroughly explained) every test he could to figure out what was wrong. We were in and out of the office several times a week for 2-3 weeks. When he was no longer able to treat Oscar (at this point we had ruled out every other possibility and he thought Oscar had either lymphoma or meningitis of the spinal cord) he made us an appointment at Blue Pearl. They confirmed that these were his most probable diagnoses (I am a graduate student, living on a graduate student stipend, and therefore declined the $2,500 purely diagnostic CAT scan and spinal tap they offered as our only other option) and they encouraged us to continue the treatment Dr. Rabek had already prescribed. When Oscar passed at home a few weeks later Dr. Rabek's office sent us a card, even after only being clients of theirs for a few months, which I still have. Since last October we have gotten another rescue cat and rescued a small dog and we always take them to this office. Their care and understanding is so appreciated and their pricing is extremely fair. Read Less

Not only are there multiple accounts of Dr. Rebak's bedside manner, he has kindly provided examples by responding to only all the negative reviews below in a manner that is not respectful of the trauma reported. These reviews never questioned his knowledge, but reported fault in how a tragic set of situations were handled. While, it is not a vets job to navigate the emotions associated with a sick pet, compassion helps this profession. I was personally accused on this review site of "exaggerating" my experience. Now, while things happen in every business, denying any fault and continuing to belittle owners who had horrible experiences for reporting them on this outlet is a testimony to how people and pets can be treated in this place. Not all of course, but enough to show the character described. Sadly, what happened to me was not an exaggeration and I sat on the floor, cried and spoke to many friends and family on the phone sitting on the floor for at least two hours. There are many witnesses. And why would someone make that up. Read Less

First let me say we have been to many vets before Dr Rabek at Cresent Hill Animal Hospital. Our Labs are like our children. The first experience we had was when our first Lab Harry was shot by one of our neighbors. Pushed his way under a wire fence as I yelled for him. Within two minutes the neighbor shot him not for being aggressive but because he grabbed a work glove and took off with it. Labs a mischievous. As I was going after him through the field as quickly as I could I heard a loud shot followed by instant yelps of pain and instinctively knew my dog had been shot. Happened just that quickly. We found him on our front porch in a pool of blood. We rushed him to closest vet and it was as if we were at a human hospital emergency room. Dr Rabek and staff jumped right it and saved our boy. We have had two more labs since then and nothing but great care always at Cresent Hill Animal Hospital. Multiple surgerys and just about anything that can go wrong with a dog they have treated our dogs always with great success. Dr Rabek always goes into great detail about what is going on with our animals and answers questions we have at any time we call. Very nice guy and the sweetest staff. With our last Lab Gracie when the time came he even came to our home when it was time to end her suffering. We wanted her to pass peacefully in her home. Nothing but the absolute best to say about them all. His office isn't new and fancy but the honesty, knowledge, experience and most of all caring are there. We would never consider going anyplace else. Read Less

HORRIBLE!!!! Don't go here unless you like to do the tango with smoke and mirrors!  I had just gotten a new puppy and because I had it registered through AKC, I received a coupon for a complimentary office visit to a "participating vet".  So because they are on the list and close to me, I made an appointment for my puppy.  I asked over the phone what the complimentary visit would include and was not given a clear answer.  Once arriving to the office with my pup, I asked several other times to the techs while waiting for the vet.  I was told they would have to check with the vet.  When the vet came in I asked again what it would include and was never given a straight answer.  Upon picking my puppy up from the breeder, most shots were already given and I was going there as part of the terms of my buyer's contract.  I never got a straight answer from the the vet at Crescent Hill.  I was asked to bring a stool sample from the pup.  The vet simply looked over paper work for what was already done and checked puppies heartbeat.  The vet then told us to watch a "getting a new puppy video" and stepped out to put it on.  Upon returning, the vet wanted to slap us with $30 bill for evaluating the stool sample and to then administer a de-wormer.  I asked the vet why they were not up front in giving us the pricing.  I told him that I had asked several times the entire time I was there. He claimed that I did not, although I did have a friend there with me who knows the truth as well.   He told me "Well I gave you a heartworm/ flea/tick sample worth about the same."  I laid it on the table and told him he could have it back and walked out with my puppy. This office is non professional.  When I first got there he got upset with the techs and rolled his eyes when we told him they took the pup back to scan the microchip (which was not in our presence due to us filling out new client paperwork out front).  During the visit I asked him for a price breakdown on paper as well as a summary upon leaving.  He told us he always gives one and if we ever come and the techs don't give one, let him know.  Right there that shows he does not have good communication with his staff, as well as the discrepancy for what a free AKC coupon would include.  Dr Rabek then proceeded to try to gross me out by telling me to go on the CDC website to see the effects of worms and use other scare tactics to make me pay right then for worming shot and stool eval.  Although I know it is important I will not be returning there to have Crescent Hill Animal Hospital doing anything regarding any pets I have.  He is not familiar with all breeds especially sight hounds.  He rushed through the exam doing but  not explaining things as he went alone, doing unauthorized things, not giving me clarity of procedures or prices up front, though asked several times. He thought I would be distracted by the "new puppy video" and was flustered and defensive when called on it.  I believe he is emotionally unstable because within 5 minutes he turned on a dime and tried to block the door from us leaving by standing in front of it and arguing us down.He should have been clear on what the specifics of the AKC coupon included and needs to be removed from the participating vets in this program.  There are plenty of other good vets in Louisville so I will be on my way.

Read Less

I absolutely love this place.  Even though I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, CHAH has my loyalty and I'll even drive across the bridge for them.  Their hours are great.Anytime I have ever had an emergency, they have managed to work me in.  The vet techs are very kind and helpful.  Dr. Raybek is incredibly knowledgeable and thorough.  He is not what you would call a "people person," but it is clear that he is skilled and competent.  He really cares about your pet.  Dr. Raybek even provides his personal cell phone number on his answering machine message.  I wholeheartedly recommend CHAH to anyone looking for top quality veterinarian care. I've been taking my dog to see Dr. Rabek since she was 5 weeks old, and I have always found his care to be superior.
