The vet diagnosed our cat with a hematoma in his ear and said it would go away on its own, it got worse after a week and a half so we called them and they said it would get worse before it got better. I had taken my boys a few times. When one continued to lose weight I took him in to see if he needed his thyroid meds again (having had this doc tell me to take them off). He spent a couple of seconds listening then told me that it was his kidneys. No test, he just knew. I reminded him that my cats brother has kidney issues but this cat never had. He dismissed me and began discussing end of life issues (having animals euthanized) like he had every other time I had been in there. Mind you my cat was snuggling in my arms, purring as he did all the time. This was not a suffering animal, he was still feeling good. I took him home but nothing that doc said sat right with me. A week later I took him to a different vet who actually ran some tests. NO KIDNEY ISSUES AT ALL. In fact his kidney function was just about perfect. His thyroid, off the charts. He was put on medication immediately. Needless to say I will NEVER go back to Fairleigh again! Read Less

Will never take our fur babies anywhere else!! We got a puppy who ended up having Parvo. For most puppies this is a certain death sentence and if it is not it is VERY expensive to treat. Luckily we took him in early and detected it early and the amazing doctor here was able to put our baby on a home treatment plan. Not only was this wonderful because we didn't have to be away from him but it also saved us a lot of money. The nurses called DAILY to check on him and even indulged our multiple "worried parent" phone calls. They saw him on the spot when we were overly anxious and didn't hesitate to get him in for fluids and extra shots of antibiotics when he wasn't responding well. With a lot of diligence and hard work I am happy to say we now have a HEALTHY thriving young pup who is on his way to a full recovery. This WOULD NOT have happened if it were not for the amazing people here. I HIGHLY recommend them for all of your animal babies! Read Less

We switched from a well-known (but a clinic that you had to wait for hours and somewhat impersonal) local clinic to the Fairleigh Pet Center about 18 months ago and couldn't be happier. For one, I find the prices fairly reasonable, and the doctor, techs and assistants are all very engaged with the people and animals they treat. They sincerely care. And they choose least invasive / more natural options first, as opposed to throwing surgery or whatever on the table from the get-go. Some examples: We brought one of our pugs in due to pretty bad limping, and diagnosed as hip dysplasia finally catching up with her. But the doctor didn't even mention any kind of surgery - I mentioned it as an option and was strongly cautioned against it, and instead put her on a program of anti-inflamatories and monthly glucosamine shots. (After 3 weeks of this, our pug almost completely stopped limping.) We also had her in for annual teeth cleanings. At the old vet, she'd had 13 teeth pulled in two years (in two visits). (!!!) Since switching to Fairleigh Pet Center, she's had her teeth cleaned twice, but had NO extractions...leading us to ask ""were all those extractions at the other vet really necessary?!"" What's more, our pugs actually appear to *like* going to the vet ...well I can't be certain, but at a minimum they aren't afraid, nervous, skittish or submissive when we go. They seem happy to see the doctors and techs. Give Fairleigh's a try. You won't be disappointed Read Less

It is unfortunate about the cat your reviewer adopted. I am sure it was upsetting but I must tell my story. We also adopted a young cat from Fairleighs'. She was probably around 6 months old at the time we adopted. Miss Kitty passed away December 16, 2010. Other than routine care, she had only 2 visits to a vet for illness. When she passed away in her sleep that December she was 22 years old. What a wonderful cat we adopted from Fairleighs'.
