Our cat Pixie stopped eating and then drinking the next day and was extremely listless and lethargic. We attempted to get an appointment with our normal vet on Friday only to be told they were booked solid and could see her Monday. We immediately after called Highlands Animal Clinic and they got us in same day within an hour or two after our call. Needless to say we got both of our cats' medical records from the old doctor to take with us for Pixie's appointment. We ultimately had to take Pixie to a more advanced facility (well we didn't have to but Dr. Horrar said it was probably the best option) but the attention and care Dr. Horrar paid to Pixie on our first brief visit was encouraging. We'll definitely be taking both cats back to Dr. Horrar for their regular checkups and senior bloodwork. I'll likely add to this review after the first regular checkup. Read Less

Dr. Horror and her staff are super. They really care about your pet, are knowledgeable, and are down to earth about expectations for care. We have been with them for over 15 years.

Dr. Hoaror was very sweet to my puppy after giving her the micro chip shot. She hugged her just like a baby, and then gave her a treat to make her feel better.

As we are new to the area with 2 very special wonderful lovely perfect angel darling sweetheart special angel kitties, we needed a vet. Special Smelly kitty #1 had some thing go on in February during one of the snows so I just took him to Dr Horrar, praying this is a decent vet. And it was just crazy. This is a cat who is a real tough guy but who is terrified of all things vet-related. Terrified. He was absolutely at peace immediately upon entering this building. He was calm & quiet with Dr Horrar and the technicians. Turns out he was fine, no problems. Im a very protective human is all. A couple weeks ago, Stanky special angel baby kitty #2 absolutely had a problem, on a Friday at 4:10pm of course. And it was gross and smelly and horrific (some terrifying cat bite abcess that was definitely not the typical abcess) and I freaked out & called and Dr Horrar waited for me to bring him in and my kitty was so good! Again, this was strange bc he is also terrified of the vet. I believe he purred when she touched him!! Neither of my special lovely smelly Angels has ever been okay about the vet before & we have tried several vets. Well, Dr Horrar fixed my kitty up and I am so grateful. We've had a follow-up appt & a phone call & one more follow-up to go and he is doing very well, almost healed up. Also she is nice, and this counts for a lot because who wants to take their sick or injured animal-child to a rude or chilly vet? As soon as we get in the door, my cats settle right down. Dr Horrar must have magical soothing waves emitting from her body. I am so grateful. I think she really loves the kitties. The techs who work there are nice, they are sweet to my kitties too and handle them so kindly. This means so much to me, especially after years of searching for a good vet & vet practice. Also they won't break your bank. Normal prices (Our follow-up with antibiotics, probiotics and 10 days of wound-flushing solutionwas $78. I think that's actually pretty good). Read Less

I decided to cut ties with our veterinarian after that office was taken into the VCA animal hospital chain. (I'm not a huge fan of corporate medicine, for either people or animals.) My first visit to Highlands Animal Clinic exceeded my expectations - our dog got Dr. Horrar's undivided attention, was tended to quickly but fully, and services were both reasonably priced and appropriate. The doctor's preventive care plan was equally appropriate, clearly laid out, and less costly than we've been accustomed to paying. For a first trip, I couldn't be happier. Read Less

After taking in a neighborhood stray I noticed it had breathing problems.  I took her to our nearby veterinarian clinic.  The staff was extremely friendly upon arriving and Dr. Horrar was able to identify the issue after x-rays, and it turned out to be quite a serious issue.  We agreed to attempt surgery to fix the poor kitty, and Dr. Horrar was an enormous help, essentially performing the major operation to cover her cost as she knew it was from the street and was helpless. From the sounds of it, the operation seemed extremely difficult and risky.  I did not expect the cat to even make it through surgery, but it turns out she did! Dr. Horrar and her staff seemed so determined on fixing my little kitty.  They were so concerned for their patient, they would call to check up on her status and wanted to see her often just to make sure she was healing okay.  The amount of care, determination, and passion that Dr. Horrar and her staff put in to saving this cat's life astounded me, and I will always be very appreciative for all they have done.  I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!
