I've been bringing my 3 dogs here for boarding for the past 4 years. They are not my primary vet but make sure my boys stay up to date with their boarding requirements. My dogs like going and they seem to really love the staff. I've never had any concerns with there care or condition when I pick up. Only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because I have had billing inconsistencies. Charged for a fecal that was never done, luckily I caught it two weeks later when they tried to charge me again. I have been going to Hurstbourne Animal clinic for a very long time but after my experience with them today I think I’m done. I had made reservations to board my dogs a week in advance of a New Year’s Eve party we wanted to attend. Today we dropped them off for a 3 night stay because they are not open in New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. The little dog has never stayed there and they forgot to check his vaccines. I had to go back and after they checked him they told me my bigger dog has not had the flu shot and could not stay. They would not give him the shot either. My dog just had his vaccines a month ago and they overlooked it. They also failed to inform me of the requirement beforehand. My tickets were $400 and non refundable. Groomer is amazing but Management sucks. Unusual policies about vaccinations. They want you to drop your dog off at 9am but no matter what I have never got him back before 4pm. My dog is always dehydrated and needs to use the restroom. Last time I picked him up my dog that has never gone to the bathroom in my house stopped and relieved himself in the parking lot on the pavement. No matter what I get extra charges for matted hair or some other reasons, they always find one. Annoying emails about vaccinations and they are not my dogs vet and have never requested updated medical information from my dogs vet. They have every dog dropped off at the same time so it is crazy at drop off time. The quality of the grooming is very high my standard poodle always looks amazing. But you get what you pay for it is always over $100 without tip. Last trip my standard poodle and westie cost $230, both had " matted hair " and they gave them vaccinations? My past groomers would only charge $70, $80 with a tip and never said that he had matted hair. Read Less

This is the worst grooming place I have ever been to. The only reason I'm giving them one star is so I can let people know not to take their dogs here. I had a beautiful fluffy labradoodle and we gave them strict instructions not to shave our dog and we liked "her hair longer on top" the lady was super nice and seemed to completely understand what I was asking for. She did inform me that her ears were matted and would need to be shaved and I understood. When I picked up my dog she was completely shaved...completely. I paid $105 for them to shave my dog without my consent. Now my poor puppy is chewing at herself and is in completely shock of what they have done to her. Please don't make the same mistake. Let's set the stage a bit. I've got a domestic medium hair cat that's five years old. She is a strictly indoor cat and she's been with me since she was about two weeks old. That being said... although she's not a fat cat, there became a point where we could not groom her ourselves anymore. Add that to the fact that we are not from Louisville, it was convenient to have a location where we could not only leave her while on our trips home but also get to a veterinarian in case of any type of issue while we were gone. Ill be honest --- this location was not the first vet or even lodge that I looked into when we were looking for a vet or preparing for our first trip. HOWEVER.....I am so l glad we finally landed here.Grooming Services --Lilly (the cat) is not accustomed to other people and does not behave well when she is exposed to other people or not in the home. Now if you come by the house and visit, she'll come let you pet her, smell you, and keep doing what cats do, but the groomer is a whole other beast. Add to that the trauma of getting a bath, your nails cut, ears cleaned, teeth...blah blah. You get the point! So, I wasn't surprised when the first time she went for grooming they told me she's not the easiest to manage. Nevertheless, they completed the grooming and had my furr-baby back to me in tiptop form. Marina (the groomer) personally took the time to speak with me and talk about her behavior, what made her most anxious, and what I could do to help calm her before arriving the day of services. While it hasn't been easy on them, they continue to work with me and Lilly to ensure she is properly groomed and healthy.Veterinary Services --In the few years we've been here we have had to visit the vet for her yearly vaccines as well as for one issues that concerned me and needed to be checked out immediately. A quick call to the office and they were actually able to fit me in that day. The vet was timely (we weren't anxiously waiting in the front room too long) and she also tried to console Lilly because she could see that she was not feeling well and uncomfortable. She prescribed medication for my furr-baby that I administered two times a day, provided explicit directions on how to give her the medicine, and also personally called me in a few days to see how she was doing. Yes...she called me. Not a receptionist or any other staff - the vet called me directly!!! I'm not sure what other things people look for in a vet, but I have not one complaint.Lodging Services: Bed n Bisket --Last but not least, I have uses their lodging services for both short and long trips. They are great with Lilly even though she's not so great with them. They also have a separate cat condo area that gives her a little room to stretch her legs. They've also always allowed me to call and check in as many times as possible and have called me abroad with any issues.I really don't want for anything. Appreciate all they do! Read Less

I only gave this place a 1 star because it's close to my house. A family member recommended this place because the suites looked really nice and we were both trying out this place for the first time as we were going on vacation together. We thought the suites would be a nice calm place for them and them having a little tv in their room was a cool idea. Well, during my tour the tv's were not on and they told me it was because of the weather and they would be back on later. At drop off my husband and I both walked back together so he could see the suites and they put our dog in one that wasn't facing a window and promised me that he would be moved to a window facing suite the next day. Little did they know we have a friend that came to check on my dog and my fathers dog every other day during that week. They never moved my dog and not once during that whole week were the tv's on for the dogs. When we came to pick them up, we told them we wanted to walk back there with them to get him. We caught one employee yelling at a dog because it urinated in its kennel. She didn't expect to see us back there. And when we came up to our baby, he had his tail between his legs and was scared. It took him a second to even warm up to us which is not his character. We saw several things to redflag us to never bring him there again. The only reason we didn't take him to the kennel we usually take him to was because of hours of operation and we didn't want to leave him at the other place for extra days that he didn't need to be there because they are closed on Sunday's. And this place wasn't. But I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will tell them to find another option. Read Less

After many years and many pets at a veterinarian near my home in Clarksville, IN, I finally ventured over to my first veterinarian in Louisville to seek a second opinion on my Boxer's ACL injury. I stumbled across Hurstbourne Animal Hospital through Google searches and chose them due to great reviews. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Kaur is also knowledgable, takes her time with you during visits, and referred me to a great surgeon that I would have not found otherwise. I just picked up my two standard poodles who were way over due for a groom due to their regular groomer retiring. I was very nervous about finding a new groomer because we haven't always had good experiences. I was more than pleased with the job that groomer Jordan Burns did on the pups. They looked amazing. Pandora's toe nails were even painted. The groom job was top notch! You don't always find groomers who know how to groom a standard poodle. This is the only place in Louisville that I trust to take my pets to. The staff remember you and your fur-babies by name when you walk through the door so it feels homey. I have cats and they always help me schedule an appointment around a time there won't be many dogs in the waiting area. They even put up with me calling every hour while my oldest cat was having a dental! They answered all of my questions and calmed me down and never once made me feel like I was annoying them (even though I knew I was lol). I love this staff and this facility! The prices are a little high, which is why I didn't give five stars, but I feel like it's worth it for the experience and the level of care. Read Less

We started taking our fur babies to Dr. Kaur in December 2004 when we rescued Chewy. Dr. Kaur was wonderful when we lost Chewy to kidney failure in October 2010. Then we saved Madison in December 2010. We had previously used another kennel until March of this year when we decided to take Madison to The Bed-N-Biskit Pet Lodge. What a wonderful decision!! As much as we would love to take Madison everywhere we go, it's just not possible. However, she is treated like family at Hurstbourne. She requires lots of special treatment and they do everything I ask them to do. I really feel good that they know and respect her special needs, it allows me to enjoy my time away because I know she is in good hands. Read Less

I love the convenience of it being a veterinarian's office, animal hospital, pet lodge, groomer and swimming therapy place all in one. The pet lodge is very affordable and the groomer prices are comparable to other places in the areas. I have been very satisfied with both the pet lodge and the grooming. I also believe the Dr. Kaur is very knowledge and truly does care about the animals. My only complaint is that the veterinarian services are expensive, especially compared to other places around town. I don't think I have ever shelled out this much money for my pet. My dog has an illness so we make regular visits. The costs is making me consider other options, which I hate to do, because I like Dr. Kaur. Also, her staff could do a better job of calling you when they say they are going to. Sometimes they say they will call with results and they never do and sometimes it takes days for someone to get test results back to you. I do like that you can also contact the vet through their website. That is convenient. Like I said, the only complaint is the veterinary prices and I'm taking away two stars, because it can be really expensive. Read Less

This place is a joke. I took my cat here for a second opinion. She had been diagnosed with a heart condition. I never spoke any of this to Dr. Karr because I didn't want to give away too much. After all, I was there for a second opinion. Her exam never even consisted of listening to her heart! I feel like the exam wasn't worth the fee. Who knows what else is missed on her "exams". Over the weekend I boarded my dogs here. They loosened my dog's collar so much that she slipped it and took off on the way out. Her collar has been the same for 2 years and i could tell it was loosened a great deal. I don't know what would have happened had I not brought people with me. I also didn't like that they had no knowledge of how to use a slip lead and how to keep control of a dog without letting it choke itself. This should be something you teach your employees especially if they are to be walking dozens of dogs several times a day. As a pet professional I know how important this is and the permanent damage that can be caused by mishandling. Both my dogs left coughing from tracheal damage.
