Preston Animal Hospital

Louisville, Kentucky
General Info
Preston Animal Hospital organizes its appointments to focus on emotional pacing and consistency for families in Louisville and surrounding Kentucky areas to reduce disruptions while enhancing wellness. At the beginning of the visit animals enter according to their individual timing. The staff observes the movement patterns of individuals through the space while recording their settling times and identifying which sensory cues—tactile, auditory, olfactory—elicit the strongest responses. Examinations incorporate comprehensive assessments of hydration levels skin elasticity limb mobility dental condition coat quality and weight distribution alongside thorough discussions about recent sleep alterations feeding patterns and household energy variations. The services offered by Preston Animal Hospital include vaccinations and bloodwork along with mobility care and dental planning while also providing preventive guidance and surgical support together with long-term care discussions. Service offerings evolve in stages or as complete packages depending on each pet’s sensory inclinations. Certain families opt for multiple short visits to stage care while others select single focused appointments with post-care resources. The ability of families to execute plans depends on numerous factors including caregiver stress levels, pet resilience, transportation availability, and household scheduling routines. Appointments include space for questions side notes and story-sharing especially helpful for new adopters or those managing chronic conditions. Preston Animal Hospital assists pet families throughout Louisville and nearby Kentucky areas to integrate care into their daily lives as a natural rhythm creating opportunities for connection and sustainable wellness practices instead of something to fear or avoid.

Dr. Klein & Dr. Berlin and their staff have taken care of our dogs for many, many years. We have a very vocal Alaskan Malamute that we occasionally board with them. He talks the entire time we're gone (which is VERY loud) and they just love him like he's family. They have also taken such good care of our elderly beagle/german shepherd mix for a long time. We had to pur her to sleep just 2 days ago. The staff at the vet was visibly upset; they'd known Lady for years. They were very patient & considerate of us and let us spend extra time with her, even after she'd passed. Today, we received a flower delivery. We were shocked to see it was from Preston Animal Hospital. Needless to day, we were WOW'd! How very thoughtful. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a great place to take your pets where they REALLY care. Read Less

I adopted a dog who had been hit by a car and wouldn't put any weight on a rear leg. I brought him to Preston Animal hospital and after X-rays was told he a dislocated hip and it had been that way for quite awhile. All options were explained to me and I chose to have FHO surgery. It was very successful and my dog was using that leg quicker than expected. Today, a year later, we are hiking 2 miles a day and he never slows down. I took my lab in for a productive cough. The vet that day said they would need to run some tests and it may be a little costly, which we agreed to no matter what it cost. Blood work and other tests were done and diagnosed my lab with kennel cough, even though he had been vaccinated for. she put him on antibiotics and sent him home. Two weeks later we had to rush him to a 24 hour animal hospital where they said he needed emergency surgery which would cost $5,000. We agree to have the surgery but he died during surgery. The animal hospital said a simple x-ray would two weeks earlier would have shown the pleural infection and he would have survived. They are too eager to just prescribe antibiotics and hope it works. We are so angry that a simple x-ray was not taken, and this mistake cost our dog his life, and I lost my best friend. Needless to say, we will never go back to this place. Read Less

Preston Animal Hospital, you would think by the name they worked with animals? I'am not sure if, that is so. We took a 2 year old Lab- Pit, to have his nail's clipped today. They had kitten's by the front door, for adoption. Someting our dog's not around alot. Then the staff put's us in a very small room to wait for the Vet. While waiting another cat walks down the hall loose. Not somthing our dog is around. The lady vet there then comes in and says thighten muzzel! Then swings around another leach to put on a dog, who already has a leach. The vet showed no kindness toward dog and the dog felt this. Vet seemed scared and told us, she wouldn't do the dog's nail's and showed us the door to leave. Not nice about the whole thing! I think this place would be good for kittens or puppies. Read Less

This review is coming from a long time customer, and not just one who has had a bad experience with one sick pet. Dr. Kline has been my vet for 10+ years and cared for 3 of my dogs. She has always been professional, upfront, and honest about everything. She is very loving and forms relationships with her patients and their owners. She also makes herself available by providing her personal cell phone number if you happen to call after hours. As far as doors go, every exam room is equipped with two. This makes it easy to avoid other customers, their pets, and furry confrontations. It also allows you to stay blocked off from customers, who may be waiting or shopping in their pet shop, while keeping the other door open and interacting with the friendly and helpful staff. I've dealt with many vets, normally going to the closest one to wherever i am currently living, or the cheapest. Preston Animal hospital has been the only animal hospital I've gone out of my way to go to. I first took my dog to their to get an operation done that no other vet was willing to do. The operation was a complete success, and the professionalism and expertise that was exhibited there was more than I could ask for, so I decided to make Dr. Kline our permanent vet.Read Less

I brought my guinea pig here after making an appointment. He was suffering terribly with kidney stones and was in a lot of pain and bleeding. My poor guinea pig and I had two wait unti nearly two and a half hours after our appointment had been scheduled. We were never apologized to. FIinally, the vet came in and without even looking at my guinea pig aid he would need to come back for surgery. I asked if she was going to look at him and showed her what he was normally prescribed for the kidney stones. She claimed she had never heard of BeneBac gel (VERY common probiotic for animals!!!!!) and didnt want to give him anything for the pain or the stones. I told her he is in a lot of pain and she acted annoyed and picked him up very harshly and then got irriated becuase he had peed during his long wait. Then she gave us an antibiotic and went on her way. She was very uncaring, insensitive, unknowledgable, rude, and very hard on my small animal. Read Less

Dr.

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Kline and her staff!!! Read Less

Read Less
