I have been taking my dog to Dr. Dixon since she was a puppy. He is a knowledgeable vet and he is always good with my dog. The staff all seem to really care about my dog, and treat her wonderfully with lots of treats! They make your visit easy with quick check in and payment in the room before leaving. This helps me because my dog wants to "play" with all the animals in the waiting room, and I struggle with keeping her calm in the waiting room. Dr. Dixon is always quick to answer all my questions and give me helpful advise. I like the on-line store where I can have products auto shipped to my house. Dr. Shelden & her staff are the BEST around!! My mom has taken her cats there for years & I have to, until I moved to Middleton & recently adopted a cat, I took her to a vet near me for the convenience & because I work so many hours. I quickly realized I made a mistake as the vet close to me isn't as thorough & knowledgeable as Dr. Shelden is & it ended up costing me a ton of unnecessary money that I would have saved if I would have just stayed with Dr.Shelden. I enjoy bringing my two dogs here. The receptionist are always friendly and willing to help. When I stop by for my dogs monthly scripts they are ready to pick up. Such an amazing clinic! We are new to the area and were looking for veterinary care for our young cat. Dr Dixon truly made us feel at ease and was very informative. I couldn't have happened upon a better vet for our German Shepherd puppy. Dr Dixon happened to grow up with German Shepherds. We learned so much valuable information, a lot of which I didn't anticipate. He made sure we had ample to time to ask questions, was enthusiastic about his work (it is very evident this is his passion!), treated our pup, Bruno, like his very own. We were sent home with information that has truly been life changing on the home front (trainer recommendations, material to ensure we could choose a pet insurance plan that meets our needs). Our best friends adopted our pups brother. They took him to a different vet in their end of town. Well, I'm glad we went to Shelden Vet Care...they identified a rare worms issue that Bruno no doubt got from his mother before we got him. Our friends vet did not catch that for their pup. I informed them and they've since returned to request the appropriate tests and their pup was positive too, just as Dr Dixon suspected. Super friendly staff! Dr. Dixon and the entire staff are absolutely amazing! We first met him when my dog was experiencing terrible stomach issues and anxiety. We came to him after seeing other vets who just wanted to medicate him and forget about him. Not Dr. Dixon. He listened to us and spent so much time with us trying to zero in on the problem all while trying to find the most cost effective methods for us. Not only is Dr. Dixon patient and loving when we are at the office, but he also personally calls to check on my dog after a sick visit and has talked to me on the phone for 30 minutes or more discussing the care of my dog. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Dr. Dixon and his entire staff, my dog is now happy and healthy with zero tummy issues. We took Marty in last night and saw Dr. Peckman, who we've never seen before. We were very pleased with her honesty and compassion about Marty's condition. Unfortunately, we had to put him down last night because Cancer had taken over his body. Dr. Sheldon did surgery on him 2 years ago when he developed blood cancer and knew that it was possible for it to return. We were there last night until way after closing time and the staff didn't seem upset about still being there at all. They were all very understanding and gave us hugs and gave their condolences. We were extremely upset and even had other family members and a dear friend there with us. They didn't rush us in any way. We feel we made the right decision to go ahead with putting him down before he starting really suffering. Kudos to Dr. Peckman for being there with us during Marty's last moment. We praise Sheldon Veterinary Care because of Dr. Sheldon, Dr. Dixon and now Dr. Peckman. We highly recommend them to anyone who has a loved pet as much as we loved and will always love Marty, the BEST DOG EVER!!Read Less

I hadn't been in need of a vet in over a decade but with a new 2 month old puppy in tow I suddenly found myself looking for a vet and not sure of where to go. I went to google for my search and Shelden Veterinary Care was at the top of the list! Their location (practically in my back yard) and all the glowing reviews convinced me this was the place to go. From the first time I reached out to them for an appointment they have been extremely helpful and accommodating. And I couldn't have asked for more once my puppy and I were actually in the clinic for our appointment--Phoebe, the vet tech, was extremely kind and was a wealth of knowledge. I started with Dr Shelden in 2010 for her experience, but if it wasn't for Dr Dixon joining the practice we would have kept shopping. The staff is FABULOUS and Dr Dixon the most caring and attentive doctor that I would entrust my Shadow to. I absolutely love this place. From the atmosphere it has & the amazing vets who love the animals they take care of. By far the best Vet I have been to in Louisville Ky. Their standards are above and beyond! Very clean, great atmosphere, calm environment for the animals. The care my pet received was EXCELLENT! I have a very nervous dog, and the stress of just taking her out of the house sometimes causes her to have seizures. I explained this to the staff. They treated her with such care, and we're very calming. I have never seen her (not freak out) but she did amazing! The staff were very informative and let me know everything they did before they did it. Dr Dixon was very nice and seemed like he genuinely cared about my dog. She was very stiff in her lower back so they did laser treatment and gave some NSAID's and even after just a few hours she seems to be doing much better.
