This was my first time going there. My dog wasn’t going to the bathroom for a week and I was starting to panic. Downtown Animal Hospital was the first place that answered the phone. I didn’t have an appointment, but they got me in anyway. They did x-rays on my dog’s stomach and were able to confirm that there were no obstructions. They gave me some medicine to give her if the trouble returns. The veterinary tech seemed a lot more knowledgeable than a lot of other places and w...as able to explain a lot of things about digestion to me. Dr. Garrity Came out from a surgery and introduced herself and explained to me all the best options for food choices. I got a really good first impression from this place and will be going back for everything else. A lot of vets make you and your dog feel like just another number. But I didn’t get that sense from this place. Excellent work! See More

I took my dog Bailey here today because she hadn't gone to the bathroom for approximately a week and it was starting to seem like it could be an emergency. I'd never been to this vet before and basically just called whoever I could to see who could get Bailey in. The receptionist said they were fairly busy, but if I dropped her off, they could try to take a look. They had me pay a deposit when I dropped her off and an hour or so later Dr Garrity called me and said that Bailey's X-ray looked completely fine and she didn't see any obstructions or cause for alarm. When I came to pick her up, the vet tech took me into the exam room and explained everything that they had done. She seemed much more experienced than typical vet techs and gave a nice explanation on how to feed her and what to do if the constipation persisted. She gave me a cd of Bailey's x-ray as well as some medicine to give her if the constipation occurs again. Then Dr. Garrity came out from a surgery she was working on to meet me and explain what some causes could be. She advised me on food changes as well as other ways to improve things. I'm impressed with her command of information.
Then the receptionist gave me a credit back on some of the deposit I'd paid which was a very nice surprise.
Given the number of bad experiences I've had at other vets (including Petsmart), I get the sense that my dog and I are not just another number or revenue source. This was a very good first experience and we'll be going back for vaccinations and everything else. Good job!!!!

I took my senior kitty, Luna, here this morning. She and I both had a wonderful experience. About a year ago, we made a trip to Shively Animal Hospital for an urgent issue--and had, hands-down, the poorest experience I have ever had to encounter with animal care. This made me do more homework before choosing a veterinarian, but based a friend's suggestion and the glowing reviews online, I was sure this would be a more positive experience. It certainly was. Dr. Garrity and her staff are the best in the business. So personable, gentle, and really showed their care for my little girl. I hardly had to wait for my appointment, and I was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes. As someone else mentioned in a review, they are upfront about pricing and will discuss this along with their recommendations. I felt that the pricing was very fair and affordable--although I would have been willing to pay a lot more for their expertise and excellent service. The vet assistant, Lauren, and Dr. Garrity took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure they understood Luna's history and the problem she was having. Quickly, a treatment plan was made and I went home with new food and medication the same day. My highest recommendations for this veterinarian and her business. I will not go anywhere else from now on.

Amazing vet. I believe that Dr. Garrity and her team truly care about the animals they see. We have 4 cats and a dog and will not take our pets anywhere else. She doesn't push umpteen procedures on you to rack up a bill and doesn't try to guilt you into spending outrageous amounts on your pets, very realistic with treatments and expected outcomes. They're always up front with pricing and let you know the cost before doing anything. There's not a waiting room full of anxious animals, it's rare that I wait for a exam room, they try to get you back as soon as you walk in.She personally calls to follow up after every visit in case you have questions.We've had to put 2 cats down previously and their bedside manner is top notch.I've recommended them to friends and family- all of whom have said they love the team here too.

I can't thank Dr. Garrity and the staff at the Downtown Animal Hospital enough. They have cared for all three of my Pets since I moved to Louisville. The care my Pets received has been effective, compassionate and affordable. I have a Dog who has suffered horrible allergy attacks since we moved to Louisville. Dr. Garrity and the staff at the D.A.H. have worked closely with us to find the most appropriate treatment. They made a difficult situation much easier to manage. If you're looking for a great Doctor who treats both Pets and Owners with kindness and respect, this is the Animal Hospital for you. They are the best in the business.

Wow, honestly.... if there were 6 stars, then I would give a 6/5 for this veterinary hospital. I can't express my gratitude enough for how well Dr. Garrity and her team work together and have worked with me and my family. We recently have moved from Louisville, KY to Honolulu, HI and have needed multitudes of paperwork and vaccinations for our two golden retrievers in order to get them to Hawaii from the mainland. The Downtown Animal Hospital was always extremely timely and was in touch with me throughout the whole process. We will miss them so much! Thanks so much for all your help Dr. Garrity and staff!

This place is simply awesome. The entire team is just so personable and they treat your pets as if they were their own. I have a new puppy and was incredibly nervous about doing things right so I researched and actually went to another vets office first. Upon that visit...I asked so many questions and the team at the other office was simply not engaging. I was referred to Downtown Animal Hospital and it just feels good when you walk in the door. Oh yea, the personal follow up call is especially considerate. I highly recommend this practice!

I have recently relocated to the Louisville area, and finding a quality veterinarian for my animals was a top priority. I have worked in animal medicine before (in another state), and I know when a vet is caring and knowledgeable versus the ones who don't know what they're doing. Dr. Garrity and the staff at Downtown Animal Hospital are the real deal. All of the staff are super nice and helpful. Dr. Garrity knows her stuff. There's not a waiting room full of anxious animals, it's rare that I wait for a exam room, they try to get you back as soon as you walk in.She personally calls to follow up after every visit in case you have questions.We've had to put 2 cats down previously and their bedside manner is top notch.I've recommended them to friends and family- all of whom have said they love the team here too.

I can't thank Dr. Garrity and the staff at the Downtown Animal Hospital enough. They have cared for all three of my Pets since I moved to Louisville. The care my Pets received has been effective, compassionate and affordable. I have a Dog who has suffered horrible allergy attacks since we moved to Louisville. Dr. Garrity and the staff at the D.A.H. have worked closely with us to find the most appropriate treatment. They made a difficult situation much easier to manage. If you're looking for a great Doctor who treats both Pets and Owners with kindness and respect, this is the Animal Hospital for you. They are the best in the business.

Wow, honestly.... if there were 6 stars, then I would give a 6/5 for this veterinary hospital. I can't express my gratitude enough for how well Dr. Garrity and her team work together and have worked with me and my family. We recently have moved from Louisville, KY to Honolulu, HI and have needed multitudes of paperwork and vaccinations for our two golden retrievers in order to get them to Hawaii from the mainland. The Downtown Animal Hospital was always extremely timely and was in touch with me throughout the whole process. We will miss them so much! Thanks so much for all your help Dr. Garrity and staff!

This place is simply awesome. The entire team is just so personable and they treat your pets as if they were their own. I have a new puppy and was incredibly nervous about doing things right so I researched and actually went to another vets office first. Upon that visit...I asked so many questions and the team at the other office was simply not engaging. I was referred to Downtown Animal Hospital and it just feels good when you walk in the door. Oh yea, the personal follow up call is especially considerate. I highly recommend this practice!

I have recently relocated to the Louisville area, and finding a quality veterinarian for my animals was a top priority. I have worked in animal medicine before (in another state), and I know when a vet is caring and knowledgeable versus the ones who don't know what they're doing. Dr. Garrity and the staff at Downtown Animal Hospital are the real deal. All of the staff are super nice and helpful. Dr. Garrity knows her stuff. I would recommend Downtown Animal Hospital to anyone looking for quality care.
