While I believe they care about the animals brought in, recent visit resulted in the loss of my business! I provided recommendations and received notice they'd be discussed in house. I truly hope it was sincere. I firmly believe these changes are needed and perhaps a few others as well. Would greatly improve my confidence in this practice if changes do take place. Most recent visit resulted in the loss of my business! This practice needs to institute HUGE policy changes!! I have taken my cat elsewhere to complete his care and am 100% confident in THE NEW VET we are now seeing! I would NOT recommend this practice or this vet for any serious veterinary care!!!! I took my 5 y.o. gecko here for a mouth infection. They got me in early and the tech was nice, but the doctor was quite off-putting and mean. He injured my gecko's mouth trying to force in a syringe to administer antibiotics. For a couple of days, she couldn't open her eye on that side or eat. They unexpectedly charged me $60 for a fecal exam, but they didn't tell me what parasites or diseases they tested for, just that she came up clean. Absolute rip off. Never, ever , ever enter this dirty, run down sham of a veterinary practice. My pet was misdiagnosed. And I was convinced I needed an additional 2300.00 of surgeries for 2 pets. Monday IWent in with a very ill dog. Today I had to go to Blue Pearl and have him put down. If this place burned to the ground I would throw a block party. Read Less

Have been bringing my animals to him for years. Dr. Vaughn is a nice, keep it real doctor. He tells you like it is and is honest. I bring my guinea pig, conure parrot, and giant schnauzer to him. Even for grooming, as does my mom with her mini Schnauzer. They always look and feel great afterwords. My giant schnauzer even enjoys going to visit for his checkups. Had a great experience. Dr. Vaughn was a little late due to dealing with an emergency, but I'm glad that they will push times back for people who are needing their pet taken care of immediately. This was our first visit, and he came in and introduced himself to us shaking our hands. When he pulled our rats out of the carrier to look at them, he gave each one a kiss on the top of the head and talked to us about how much fun and joy rats are. He did what he could to make the visit as affordable as possible as well. Then, as icing on the cake, Dr. Vaughn called us personally to ask how our rats were doing. This was my first visit here, and can say, I won't go anywhere else for my puppy kids. Everyone from the staff talking to me over the phone, Dorothy and Bo, to Dr. Vaughn, were very friendly and patient with all of my questions and concerns and treated my little guy just like he was one of their own. They have the best pricing around by far and also offer new customer coupons on their website. They also take care of all kinds of other animals. I highly recommend them. Update: I took my mini dachshund to get neutered today and what amazing service. Dr. Vaughn called me after the procedure to let me know how everything went and how my little boy was doing. Since moving to Louisville, my wife and I have relied on Dr. Vaughn and company to take care of our indian ringneck parakeet Mina. Recently, Mina came down with a lung infection so I have been coming in weekly for treatments. After numerous recent visits, I've had enough experience with the clinic I felt I should leave a review. I trust Dr. Vaughn, and the staff treat us kindly and professionally. Sherri, the vet tech I most often see, has been great (she has done pet sitting for us as well). Dr Vaughn is an amazing veterinarian. I say this in the context not just as a client and pet owner and observing directly his bedside manner with patients, but also seeing him ferret out difficult diagnoses. I am a surgeon and have always been amazed at his ability to see through complex conditions. When my Scottish Terrier was first diagnosed with a chronic illness, it was Sam who through lab testing and good clinical skills did a great work-up and was able to help my dog maintain better health. Dr. Vaughn has been my veterinarian for over 20 years. He has treated, my dogs, cats & fowl. The care I have received at Veterinary Associates Stonefield has been superior. Dr. Vaughn and his support staff are friendly, and speak to my animals as if they were one of their own. I also greatly appreciate the honesty and the fact that Dr. Vaughn is willing to listen and bounce ideas back and forward with me. I am a big believer that vaccines are over used, and have personally seen the side effects they can cause....Dr. Vaughn and I developed treatment plans for my animals based on our lifestyle, to keep them healthy and safe. About two years ago, I almost lost one of my senior pets...she became ill quickly and went downhill fast. Dr. Vaughn met me at his office after hours, and again on a Sunday to try and save my babies life. Took my rescue 1 year old husky that had adult heartworm there he weighed 45 lb and was skin and bones and they treated him monthly until he was heartworm free he now weighs 90 lb healthy as an ox. I take my amazon parrot and my lovebird to Dr. Vaughn, as he is the only certified avian veterinarian in all of the state of Kentucky. This is one of the most compassionate people that I have ever met in my entire life. He is highly intelligent and has chosen to dedicate his life to the well being of animals. He never talks down to you if don't know something animal related but always gently teaches you about your animals conditon and what he as a doctor will do to bring about your pets optimum well being. I think Dr. Vaughn and his staff are very passionate concerning the care of my precious babies. Have been going to him for many many years now for the care of my birds and now my 2 cats. He is truly one of a kind veterinarian that I fully trust with the care of my animals. He will not try to rush you out like some places that I have been to. Sam has had to perform not 1 but 2 surgeries on Pinkey that weren't the easiest....she's come through them both with flying colors. The first one took 3 hours and she came out with 6 drains. The second one saved her life from a deadly cancer. If you're looking for the cheapest then you're not going to like him....if you're looking for the best~and most direct/to the point/no fooling around Vet...then go there. Did I mention that he's the only avian certified vet around? I want someone who will be blunt and tell it like it is-he's my kind of Doc & I trust him 100%. Dr. Vaughn, Dorothy and Veterinary Associates Stonefield saved our Frankie today. They have already named her the "miracle dog". She was chasing a squirrel in the back yard and somehow empaled herself on a root sticking out of the ground. The gash was about 1 inch wide and 3 inches long, it was so deep I could see her organs. I wrapped her up in a banker and rushed her to the closest Vet to our house. Thanks God that was Dr. Vaughn and his practice. She is going to be just fine after a bunch of staples. I'm happy with the care our dog has gotten. I agree that they are not the cheapest in town but I think you get what you pay for. We got our dog spayed and asked about the cost. The vet explained that for a female the surgery is quite complex and took the time to tell us what they do to ensure a good outcome. The vet even called several times to see how our dog was doing. Friday 7/22/2016 appt 1:30pmArrived at 1:20pm & stood alone at the reception counter til 1:45pm then left! Radio blasting down the hall in the back somewhere as if a party was going on! I yelled out twice, but no one ever emerged!Parrot screeching bloody murder in the waiting room!My cat screaming from her cage because the parrot's screeching was scaring her, yet no one ever came up to the reception counter.They even called me yesterday to variety I was going to keep my appointment!If this is the measure of their professionalism and how they care about their customers and our time, then, I defiantly do NOT want them caring for my animals with the same disregard!If you set an appointment, then make sure there is someone at the reception counter to receive the customer! This vet is disgusting! First I went in with a tiny bird and the place wreaked with chemicals from cleaning. (bird cannot tolerate that!) Then he came in and wreaked of cigarette smoke.....I was reminded of pig pen on Charlie Brown. He was RUDE and and charged a forturne for absolutely nothing. My rabbit has been a patient of Dr. Vaughn's for several years now, and I always enjoy taking him in (definitely more than he does!). The support staff is very friendly and always seem excited to see the animals. Dr. V is extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. He has a very nice way with people, always remembering us and our rabbit, and also with the animals. Again, you can tell he enjoys petting them and seeing them healthy. He is a bird expert but sees other exotic animals, as well as cats and dogs. There are two adorable tiny dogs who roam freely in the office, as well as a bird in the waiting room, making it a very friendly and relaxed environment. The waiting room also has a coffee center, but I've never had to wait more than 2 or 3 minutes. They've always been able to see me whenever my schedule allows. My last visit took longer than was scheduled, because I requested bloodwork that I hadn't previously mentioned, but we were able to stay in the exam room while the bloodwork was processed on-site.The pricing is very reasonable compared to other exotic vets. There are no surprise charges. I definitely recommend Dr. Vaughn and Stonefield. Read Less

I had a terrible experience with this vet also. I took my cat there when they were running a "special". They proceeded to guilt me into all kinds of other things that she didn't need. I brought her in an animal carrier. When I couldnt get her out easily, he grinned at me and said, "Let me show you how it's done!". He turned the carrier roughly on it's end and reached in and snatched her out while she cried in pain. He then continued to handle her roughly through the exam and when he was done he shoved her back into the carrier. My daughter was with me and witnessed the whole thing. She started crying when we left and asked why he treated our cat that way? I told her I didn't understand either but we would never go back. Also, during the visit he was yelling at his office staff and berating them. You could tell they were all embarassed by his behavior but wouldn't speak up. I have NEVER had this kind of experience at a veterinary clinic and honestly believe what the previous poster wrote to be true. I wish I had said something that day but I was so shocked by his behavior that I was just speechless.Horrible man shouldn't be allowed to touch animals...period.This is from Craigslist and there are many more!!!!
