Hands down the best veterinarian for our dogs. Dr. Mercer is the best vet you’ll ever find. Our girl would’ve lost her foot and part of her leg if not for him. He never gave up operating twice on her. He’s also saved the life of our youngest boy. He wouldn’t be with us today if not for this wonderful doctor. Dr. Mercer and Julie have saved us so many times. Dr. Mercer is a very caring vet. Him and his staff are wonderful. He has always fixed our animals right up. We have 33 animals and I wouldn't take one of them anywhere else. They do all they can and then some. Very reasonable prices as well. You won't find a better animal clinic anywhere. I recommend him to anyone who loves their animals and want the best care for them. Dr Mercer and his staff are so good to my babies. When I had to leave Darla for her dental, I found out she wasn't put in a kennel in the back to wait. She was up front in the lap of the receptionist. Then after her dental she was held like a baby by one of the techs. My recent visit with Rockie, Doc knew what was wrong without a lot of poking and prodding. We also took Buddie in and he was treated so well. Read Less

I first took my lab/chow mix, Sammy, to doc Mercer just about 2 years ago. I was afraid his time was up, and at 15 years old it was possible. Doc took a good long look at him, ran some tests, and told me he had a few more good years in him. He helped me wean him off of liver damaging pain killers and onto supplements that lessened the progress of his arthritis. My dog hated most vets, but not doc Mercer. They were best buddies. After 2 more years of happy life, he crossed the rainbow bridge Friday. Doc Mercer took amazing care of him, right to his last breath. I've never met a more compassionate, capable veterinarian; with a wonderful staff. They love the animals in their care. My cats will continue to be treated by him, and when we add another dog to our lives I know who will be his vet. I could not recommend Owensboro Animal Hospital more if I tried. Dr. Mercer is phenomenal and the staff is a very caring and kind group of individuals. We had an issue with our chihuahua late at night and Dr. Mercer had no problem with us coming in so he could take a look at her. He cares about the animals very much and the owners too. He will work with any animal that needs special care as long as it takes to get the animal back to great condition. The office visit doesn't just check up on the animal it also in tells a through visit with the owner. He listens to the pets owners and treats each and everyone like a best friend. I have seen him work on animal way past closing ours. He has even met us at the clinic to take care of our sick rabbit. Doc will do whatever it takes to make the owner and the pet comfortable as long as they are in the clinic. Doc is so compassionate that if an animal needs around the clock care he will either spend the night at the clinic or even take the pet to his warm and welcoming home, so that the pet gets the complete care it needs.
