Dr Brian Proffitt is the best!!! I have been to many Louisville Veterinarians, Dr. Proffitt was the only Vet to research the problem and figure out what is wrong. My sweet pet can finally get the relief he needs!! Wish I was told about him much sooner! He is my Vet for life! Read Less

I take my dog here to be groomed and I can't say enough about how they treat her for the day when she gets groomed. She always looks great when I get her and I appreciate their love for my fur baby. She comes home with a bandana and they are always adorable!!!I take my dog with me on trips but if I didn't I would also board here. I had heard good things about Goshen before my dog started grooming there but now am glad I tried them out. Will continue t lo take my precious little dogger there! Read Less

All the vets and the entire staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and so great with the animals. They always have time to explain procedures and answer questions. We took our doggie to GAC for yrs. She rcvd wonderful care, & we loved Drs. Hagan & Profitt. Their groomer, Lisa, is fabulous, & LG loved her. LG hurt her leg (after hrs) bc her kneecaps 'didn't fit,' & a local vet wanted to sched surg for Mon. Dr. Hagan saw her Mon. & said no surgery; nature usually compensates & surgery may not hold. We were relieved & grateful for Dr. Hagan. Yrs later LG saw their new vet who excitedly exclaimed she likely had melanoma under her tongue & needed a biopsy now & surgery. Very proud. It looked like a tear, so we watched, & it healed. LG had chewed blinds when anxious when I forgot to raise them. The tongue spot healed. When she passed, I called Lisa, & she cried w/me. She lost a friend too. The next day we recvd. a card signed by all. We now have 2 doggies & take them to a great vet close by. Fees for 2 are the same as it was for 1 @ GAC. But if GAC is the same as 4 yrs. ago & you don't mind the $, I highly recommend them for their care & compassion. Read Less

Goshen Animal Clinic is amazing! They are loving and caring and totally dedicated to the health and well-being of every pet who is under their care. The staff is awesome and we never worry about our beloved dog, Riley, when he is there, whether it is for a visit to see Dr. Proffit, or to be boarded. We know he is safe and in good hands. I have been taking my dogs over the past 15+ years to Goshen.  I have had Samoyeds and now have a Samoyed and an Akita.  I bring them for their general and preventative treatments as well as having had several more serious issues with them over the years - c-section for puppies, diabetes, arthritis, old age and now one with an auto-immune desease.  The doctors, Proffitt and Hagan and not only very knowledgable but incredibley caring towards all animals.  I have always had great confidence in their abilities and the technicians that work with them.  Caring for animals can be expensive, but I have always felt that they provide the quality of service and care that they would give to their own pets.  The animal always comes first in their minds but they also know how to listen to the thoughts of the owners too and when possible incorperate them into the program.  I have reccommended them many times over the years and know many people who also go to this animal clinic.  After reading the previous reviews I felt the need to set it straight. Goshen Animal Clinic is the best. I have two wild and crazy bearded collies and they take the best of care of them for me. One had been ill for some time and with the help of the doctors and staff we have his illness under control. He has IBD and Dr. Hagan has him on a special diet and medication. He had been wasting away with throwing up and severe runny poop. Now that he has been following the doctors and I don't let him eat any thing he isnt' supposed to he stays healthy. He has gained weight back to his goal and is lively and feisty. Thank goodness for all the good care he has been given in the last year so we still have this boy with us. GOSHEN ANIMAL CLINIC IS AWESOME! I read some of the other reviews and they are absurd. I have been to this vet many times and they always treat my pet and my family well. Their medical care was awesome. Dr Proffitt, Dr Hagan and the entire staff are helpful and caring. Their prices are fair and reasonable. I have price shopped too and this clinic is comparable to others in the area. There are other clinics in the area that are cheaper, but you are comparing apples and oranges. That lesser expensive clinic told me over the phone that to have my pet vaccinated was very cheap but the wait would be about 1.5-2 hours and then I would not get to see the doctor. Not to mention that this ""cheaper"" clinic was 40 minutes from my home! I have never waited for more than a couple of minutes at Goshen Animal Clinic. I ALWAYS get to see the doctor when I want to. Apparently people have no idea that prices have gone up over the last 20 years. Goshen Animal Clinic has always been fair with their pricing. There are tests that need to be done for doctors to treat pets or even humans. Those tests are not free but they are necessary because my dog can't tell them whats wrong. I am really irritated by people who use these reviews to bash businesses. Chances are, they were unrealistic in their expectation of cost and treatment. Did they ask about cost? Did they approve treatment? The folks at Goshen Animal Clinic are wonderful, caring people who will treat you right. Read Less

While I have found the Staff and Vets at Goshen Animal Clinic to be quite friendly (i.e. They ""ooh"" and ""aah"" over every pet), I also have discovered that the Vets consistently are far too focused on the Clinic's bottom line -- both in terms of charging truly outrageous prices for everything they offer (from office visits to prescriptions when compared to other Vets in the area) and, sadly, in terms of ordering expensive tests and procedures that are not necessary. Particularly because these tests and procedures do entail some risk and discomfort for your pet, I find this particularly painful and unethical. In my particular situation, I had an opportunity to see Dr. Hagan, Dr. Profitt, and Dr. Fulkerson at different times; all the Vets practiced similarly. In a single year, they recommended hundreds of dollars of tests/treatments for my dog which eventually turned into thousands of dollars. Eventually, as I became suspicious, I asked friends about their experiences. I became horrified when I learned that the ""common experience"" seemed to be to start off there (because of the convenience of the Clinic to Prospect/Goshen residents) and then to eventually end up in better hands. For example, one friend had taken her cat to another vet for a second opinion after the Vets at Goshen recommended a costly surgery; she was surprised to find that her cat didn't need surgery at all! Needless to say, she never returned to Goshen Animal Clinic. Another friend told me of the hundreds of dollars she had spent on her dog -- with absolutely no improvement in his condition; she took him to another vet who immediately said he had been misdiagnosed, pointed out what condition he actually had, and cured him for less than $35! I switched Vets (to Shively Animal Clinic, which seems to have the best reputation in this Region) and found that my dog has several serious health problems Dr. Hagan missed entirely while she was focusing on making sure my dog had cleen teeth. I have a dog that at 9 mos old decided to spring into the air on a leash and land wrong on it's back leg - snapped it in 2. Goshen Animal Clinic was the closests vet to our location and that made the decision for us. The vet fixed the leg with plates and pins for just over $1,800.00. (yeah WOW!) After about a week we noticed something more was wrong as she kept licking her leg/wound area aggressively. We took her back and discovered that they had not trimmed the pins down. So WALLA .. more BS and fees and xrays. So all said and done it was closer to $2,000.00 +. So we are all done right? NO. A week later we notice this smell; a horrible smell and it was coming from her cast/leg area. We take her back in to the Goshen Animal Clinic and they remove the cast to discover irritaded/rotting flesh. They had put the cast on wrong and it rubbed her fur and SKIN completely off in certain locations. OMG I WAS SOOO ANGRY!!! They did not bill us for that as I made it VERY clear that I was ANGRY. My dog now has perm scars from this vet and the hair will NEVER grow back. I have no recourse against this vet as animals do not have the same rights as humans. I would have sued this POS vet then for whatever I could have got. Shut them down. Ok so a year and a half has gone by since then (9/2/2008) ... same leg but now her outter toe on that leg is having problems. Swelling and such was noticeable so we took her back like stupid people to Goshen Animal Clinic thinking this may also be related to the injury, for the dog's sake we wanted to go where they KNEW her condition the best. Ok an hour and $143.00 later; the vet wants to just hack off her toe for $536.00. I start thinking of actually putting my dog down as I just can't afford it. He starts actually making the arrangements to youthanize my dog. I told him I needed to discuss this with my wife before I off my dog. I am getting a 2nd opinion now. This vet is out for your CASH, not out to help your pet. BE very AWARE. Read Less

I really like Goshen Animal clinic - the staff and vets are great, but they are also very expensive. I took my cat in for a checkup and bloodwork for his kidney function and walked out with a $380 bill. I'm used to paying around $25 for the exam plus anything extra such a lab work. The exam fee at Goshen alone is $55. There are lots of extra fees as well. They took 2 X-rays which cost about $160 - not terribly unreasonable. But when I went back to pick up some antibiotics they had prescribed after the lab work came back, I had an additional $50 charge for a radiologist to review the films. Dr. Hagan wanted to do some additional tests but I declined as I just didn't think it was worth the cost when it really wouldn't change much. I guess they think that since they're in the Goshen/Prospect area, people will pay. I was going to have my cat's teeth cleaned too. They gave me a price sheet and the minimum charge is $144, and up to $188 depending on how bad they are. When I was in Richmond, I paid $55 which included the application of Oravet. Goshen charges an extra $20-something for this. I'm probably going to read some other reviews and maybe go somewhere else, it's just hard to beat the convenience. Everything comes at a price though. The staff and Doctor's at Goshen Animal Clinic are wonderful. I was sorry to see there was an unsatisfied customer. Being a vet. in my opinion is a much tougher job than a M.D. The Dr's there, specifically Dr. Proffitt, saved my Yorkie's life. She was diagnosed with Lymphatic Cancer and has been in remission for 3 years. I and most of my friends take our pets to Goshen Animal Clinic. Yesterday I found 2 runaway dogs, the clinic welcomed them with open arms and were able to find their owners in a matter of minutes. For those of you that have not tried their services, I highly recommend them to you. Read Less

I would'nt recommend this vet. I did'nt appreciate his manner in handling my concerns. Having recently moved to Louisville from out of state, I was hoping for more of what I was use to... a friendly modern environment, where my beloved pet would receive the best medical attention.. which I did not receive. After my pet was treated so poorly at another clinic to town, it is so refreshing to go to someone that will take care of your pet as if it is his own.
