Richmond, Kentucky
General Info
Richmond Veterinary Clinic is a veterinary practice located in Richmond, committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to pets within the community. Located in Richmond, United States, the clinic is reputed for its reliable and professional approach to animal health, creating an enabling environment for pet lovers. The experienced team focuses on core aspects of pet wellness, emphasizing regular check-ups and tailor-fitted treatment plans. Services often include Oncology, Allergy Testing, Endoscopy, Surgery, Microchipping, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. These procedures are conducted by paying attention to the details and can be both preventative and proactive. The center is well-equipped, and profound emphasis takes place on ensuring the animals are not stressed during visits. Clients often praise the caring and communicative nature of the staff, which helps build long-term trust and rapport. Richmond Veterinary Clinic continues to grow as a cornerstone of the Richmond pet-owning community. Whether it is helping young, healthy pets start off life right or assisting older pets with chronic conditions, the staff will always be there to help. Their dedication to animal welfare is also apparent through their desire to continually educate themselves and keep up with the latest standards in veterinary medicine. This ensures that every pet gets the best care possible. It additionally promotes responsible pet ownership and community involvement. The solid practices at Richmond Veterinary Clinic in Richmond assist pet families throughout Kentucky by providing services that are easy to comprehend and implement at a flexible pace. The initial veterinary visits mostly address small issues that affect the cat’s appetite, grooming, posture, and vitality. During each visit, the veterinarian will perform a physical examination that involves taking the temperature and looking at the skin, joints, ears, eyes, and gums while observing behavior as well as alertness. Each visit is an opportunity to build the pet’s health and behavior history in identifying important trends over time. Richmond Veterinary Clinic offers preventative care, diagnostics, vaccinations, surgical consultations, senior wellness planning, and nutritional guidance. For instance, a predominantly indoor cat with chronic allergies or an active dog requiring scheduled outdoor time would have treatment paths tailored to their specific lifestyle needs. Schedules for school pick-ups that align with travel routines and work hours help families stay consistent. The clinic implements an annual wellness program and follow up visits to ensure that the progress is not disrupted. The team continuously looks into the behavioral aspects and tweaks them just enough to keep owners engaged without overwhelming them. Richmond Veterinary Clinic helps the whole family build an evolving home routine in Richmond and broader Kentucky to give their pets stability and familiarity.

All my pets are unlucky enough to have medical issues beyond basic preventive care--but we're lucky enough to have the RVC staff and Dr. Putnam for their veterinary needs. Dr. Putnam knows his stuff, but spends a great deal of time consulting specialists to learn more about the unusual conditions my pets have presented him. He continually seeks ways to help them, and has called in animal cardiologists and acupuncturists to help us. I would drive to Lexington or Louisville in a heartbeat if it was necessary, but we get top-notch, local care at RVC. I wasn't joking about unlucky pets; we've had to utilize a range of services RVC is able to do for diagnosis and preventive care: digital X-rays, ultrasounds, laser therapy, endoscopy, dentals and surgeries. And, if Dr. Putnam does an X-ray or ultrasound, he later shows you the actual images from the procedures so understanding what's happening and why is easier. We've had to use the after hours emergency number several times, and knowing I don't have to drive to Lexington for emergency help is a big relief. I also appreciate that on-site hospitalization is available if we need it. Plus, Dr. Putnam treats all kinds of animals--domestic and exotic. Besides meeting other cats and dogs in the waiting room, I've met a bird, a ferret, guinea pigs, snakes and a couple of tortoises. And, once, as I was leaving a 1 a.m. emergency visit with one of my dogs, another emergency was arriving. It was someone with a sick chameleon. I have no doubt that chameleon got the same attention and excellent treatment my seizure dog had just gotten. Above all else, and just as important to me, is how compassionate the entire staff is. They emotionally supported me through the weeks up to and the devastating loss of three of my dogs. Their kindness means the world to me. I couldn't ask for anything more for my pets' care. Thank you!!! Read Less

Dr Putnam and his staff are fantastic. They're thoughtful, kind, knowledgable & trustworthy. Last year I was looking for a new vet for my dogs; when asking around, Dr. Putnam was recommended twice, by a Petsmart employee and a animals saving and fostering group out of Lexington. They both had rave lengthy reviews so I booked an appointment. I took my chihuahua Elle and poodle Roxy. Elle was older with a heart murmur. Roxy was overweight with mild epilepsy.Roxy has now lost 2lbs after wonderful suggestions and her seizures have decreased so her health has increased tremendously! Read Less
