Dr. Doan and his staff have always been extremely professional and empathetic.  I visited his office when moving to this side of town.  I really didn't get to know him much as the timing that we began visiting him was at times that our pups were having very serious problems.  I believe Dr. Doan handled both of those very scary experiences in the only way he could.A couple of years later we have gotten a new dog and have began her vet experience with him. I'm giving them 2 stars because their staff is extremely nice and they were very quick to get us in for an emergency appointment. However, being pleasant doesn't make up for the knowledge you should have being an "emergency" vet. I brought my 4 year old dog in after he vomited all night long and becoming very lethargic. I told them he got in the trash and what he could have eaten,even though he now says he doesn't remember me saying that. However, my mom heard it and I know the girl working with him heard it because she laughed about it. They took X-rays, did blood work, and gave him a shot and some pills to take home to stop the vomiting. He didn't see anything on the X-Rays to suggest needing a surgery for a foreign object in his stomach. Well the next day he was still vomiting. There was something about this vets office that just turned my stomach at the thought of bringing my dog back there. So I chose to go somewhere else. When we got to the new place, they immediately knew he had a foreign object, just after doing a quick exam on him and looking at the X-rays, Dr. Doan at Alexandria Pike hospital took (I picked the X-rays up on the way there). They took more X-rays just to confirm, but rushed him into surgery after. This one day I wasted at this office could have meant my dogs life. I do not trust this office and I would definitely not trust him doing a surgery on my pup. I'm sure he's great at giving vaccines, but find someone else for your more serious problems. I really just donated 300 bucks to a place that could have killed my dog for their lack of expertise. Oh, and I'm pretty positive they are not even accredited by the BBB. Big red flag.Read Less

Recently went here for my two year old maltipoo's check up. I usually go to the west Chester veterinary center but I have moved to northern KY and that's just too far. This was my 3rd time boarding my 2 dogs at Alexandria Pike Animal Clinic over the past 6 or so months, and after this time, I will NEVER bring my dogs back. I dropped my dogs off on Friday afternoon and picked them up Monday afternoon (so around 72 hours or 3 days). I called beforehand and was told I could drop them off/pick them up anytime during business hours (no Sundays) and that it would be $20/dog/day.First, when my dogs were given back to me, they both really needed to "go" - my dogs can really hold it, so it was obvious that they hadn't been given time to do their business in a long time. Second, when I got home, they went crazy for water - it was obvious that they hadn't been given water recently. What kind of boarding place doesn't give dogs frequent access to water?Third, they charged me for 4 days of boarding. When I questioned it, they said that no matter what time I had picked them up, they would have charged me for a full day, even if I had arrived the minute they opened. "So your days aren't 24-hours?" I asked. They said "No." I have boarded my dogs at other places that were similarly priced and have never been charged a full day for the pick-up day. Friday-Monday counts as 3 days. So basically, if you want to board your dog for one day at $20/day, you will actually have to pay $40/day because they automatically charge you for an extra day on the day of pickup. Looking at my past receipts, it seems they've done this in the past too, so I guess they just have a shady policy rather than that this was a one-time mistake. Shame on me (or rather, my husband, who usually pays and picks them up) for not noticing earlier.I hope they really needed that $40 extra they just charged me because they will be missing out on a LOT of weekend business (and, in fact, I was going to book them for 3 weeks over Christmas, but guess I'll be giving that $840 to anywhere else).TL; DR I know you love your furry little friends (and your wallet!), don't bring them here! I recommend Dr. Doan and the staff highly. This is a wonderful clinic for your pet's care. The care and concern he offers to our pets is wonderful. We have three dogs from 11 years to 2 years. When we moved from Deer Park to Cold Spring I began taking our dogs there. Our clinic in Blue Ash/Loveland was excellent but the trip was stressful loading getting everyone loaded up. I went to Dr. Doan because older pets no longer with us were treated by him and the previous veterinarian. Our recent trip was two weeks ago and today to have the young dog stitched up after cutting herself trying to get a mouse out of our gas grill. He made time to treat her late in the afternoon. I want to include this; at this moment we don't have long term illness or health issues like my parents did with their little dog. Their little dog was abandoned at the clinic nearly 17 years ago between the clinic's doors. We adopted the poor thing and Dr. Doan treated her for years. Seeing her and my parents through numerous recurrences of her chronic issues. He was extremely compassionate to her and my parents at each visit until to the end of her life earlier this year.Read Less

I have been searching for a good and reasonably priced vet for my goldendoodle puppy and happened to come across the Alexandria Pike Animal Clinic on a Cincinnati pet website. Once I visited their webpage and researched their business a little more, I was pleased with what I found. So, I called to set up an appointment and the receptionist that answered was extremely pleasant and was also very respectful and accommodating to my personal time. Needless to say, I took my puppy there and took advantage of their $89 vaccines for life as well as their other great low prices and left feeling happy knowing that I found a great loving vet that didn't break my bank. Boomer and Guinness both are patients here and I really could not ask for a better vet! Having lived here only a year, it was important to find a good vet for them. I lived in Cincinnati for a summer and used the Alexandria Pike Animal Clinic to board my Boston Terrier when I was out of town and for a regular checkup and shots. I love them and recommended them to two friends - who also love them and use them regularly. They're very affordable and so, so kind to the animals. When in need of a close place to kennel my dog for an evening I've been dropping him off at this homely little vet's office in Southgate. They came highly recommended by a friend that used to work there. The staff is friendly and very loving towards my dog. the price for boarding is really good and I've found it easy to call at the last minute when I have to drop everything for emergencies and can't take my dog with me or when I've needed to fumigate my house for pests.
