I have been to a number of different Veterinarians in the area and have by far been the happiest with Heekin Animal Hospital. The staff are always very warm and welcoming and willing to help whenever I have questions. They are very quick to respond and schedule appointments and I never have to wait more than five minutes when I arrive to be brought back to the exam room. The Veterinarians are very knowledgeable and I know that I can trust their diagnosis. Prices are reasonable as well which is a plus. I have been very happy with the service that I have received at each visit and would definitely recommend Heekin Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a new Veterinarian! Read Less

The person who complained about a wait I just wanted to say like any doctors office dr heekin has emergencies. She has been my vet for over 12 years, I wouldn't think about going anywhere else and I won't. If you want a vet who will sit up with you at 3am when you're holding your loved one who has passed away. If you want a vet who will get you in during an emergency who will stay over when you need her dr heekin is that person. I'm sorry about the persons experience but like I said 12 years and emergencies come up. When someone's loved one is suffering I'm sorry but waiting is part of the program. After having a couple issues at our old vet, we decided to take Annie with a skin issue to Dr. Heekin. After her exam, it had been determined she had heart disease, probably liver disease and possibly cancer (which we decided not to have tested.) After a short time our sweet Annie lost her fight. Dr. Heekin has so much compassion for her clients, animals and humans alike. Where many of the phone calls are handled by the front desk at most vets, Dr. Heekin knows when it is important to take the call herself to help comfort the person on the other end. She took my call multiple times and I am so grateful that we made the switch even though it's more than 25 minutes farther away. Dr. Heekin saved our rescue dog Wiley. He came home with heartworm when he was only a few months old. After waiting a little while to be sure he would be old enough to tolerate the medicine, we started the protocol to cure him. She (and her wonderful staff) were there with us every step of the way and she was constantly checking on our Wiley. She also saved our cat Weenie when he had an emergency several years ago. I am so glad to have found Dr. Heekin. She cares about my dogs and is very thorough with her examinations. When she finds an area of concern, Dr. Heekin does weigh the cost and benefits of treatment. For example, my rat terrier has a knee issue. Dr. Heekin said surgery could fix it, but that some dogs get around just fine with this condition, so recommended that we wait and see. I brought this dog in for an emergency situation when Dr. Heekin was not there and the vet in Dr. Heekin's place was equally caring and thorough, doing research on my dog's symptoms to ensure that she gave me the correct types of antibiotics. Once my dog's fever broke, I explained that I had to go out of town on a business trip and was advised that I could go ahead and that Dr. Heekin was willing to go to the boarding kennel nearby if my dog seemed to be getting sick again. I don't know why a previous reviewer had an issue with this vet, but I guess they could caught someone having a bad day. Now with 2 emergency surgeries that have needed to be performed in the last year we couldn't have been happier with the way things were handled.
