Fluffy's story is unique in that she spent her first 14 years with an elderly lady who doted over her and spoiled her. Then the lady died. Suddenly, no one wanted her, so she was scheduled to be euthanized in November of 2015. I found her at an adoption site, looking worn out, scared and hopeless. I adopted her that same day.
After two years of being spoiled by her "new" mom, she developed "Old Dog Vestibular Syndrome," diagnosed in short order by Dr. Benson. His knowledge of my little dog's problem was spot on, and he told me exactly what to expect as she recovered. I went into the whole thing thinking that my dog had reached her end! Dr. Benson explained that was not so, and after he treated her for two days in the clinic, she came back to me feeling much better.
As time went by, she recovered exactly the way he said she would. Dr. Benson came highly recommended by one of my clients, and now I know why. I would drive to Taylorsville anytime to see this excellent vet. You should too.

Can I give him 6 stars?! We decided to test whether or not the acupuncture was working... we went once a week for two months. A that point our cat, Maverick, was doing great! We thought that maybe that meant that he was better, not just from the acupuncture and pain meds, but from healing. I truly believe in acupuncture now. We stopped for ~1.5 weeks and he has regressed :( Basically back to screaming in pain when he tries to walk. Can't wait to get back on schedule with the Doc.

Due to Dr Bension and all the wonderful staff at Salt River Vet, this is the ONLY place we have trusted to take our fur babies for over 10 years. All the staff are awesome, are always friendly and are very patient with my many questions. My current dog Sadie has had some health issues and Dr Bension has gone above and beyond to help her get proper food/meds for her food allergies and stomach issues. Sadie LOVES going to the vet, which causes so much less stress and worry for us. It is also great that they do boarding-we can go on vacation with no worries and know she is taken care of. Even when friends offer to keep Sadie if we are out of town we still prefer to take her their for boarding because we trust them 100%. I highly recommend Salt River Vet!

In response to Mr. Adkins recent comment: Mr. Adkins is not a client of Salt RiverVeterinary Clinic. He did call and discuss that his pet had been diagnosed at another Veterinary hospital with a specific lameness. Salt River was very clear in explaining to Mr. Adkins that Salt River would have to do an examination of their own and determine a diagnosis before any surgery could or would be scheduled. Mr. Adkins to date has never visited Salt River Veterinary Clinic and has never had his pet examined here.

My dog Jadis who has a torn ACL/MCL .I HAD already talked to dr. Benson about surgery, told him i needed to get the money together. So i called the humane society to see if i could get assistance, and they abliged and wete willing to help with $250 of the cost. Then i went to the bank and borrowed the rest. I then called Dr Benson and told him i had the money including the help from the humane society. He said we could do it on the following Tuesday and he would go ahead and order the hardware but had to get confirmation from the hamane society about the help. So i then called that lady and had her call them and she called me and said everything would be fine. Then the girl from dr bensons office called me ,telling me the hardware was on back order and quoting their pollices and that they needed full payment up front. So i offered to pay the full amount and let them reimburse me after they recieved the check. So i then had the lady from the HS to call them to ensure them of how it would all work, and she did. I then recieve a call from that same girl from Salt River Animal Clinic...saying the hardware was on permanent back order and that Dr. Benson had family matters pop up he had to attend to...come on REALLY. So even after i offered to pay the full amount and let them reimburse me ( no honor ) they felt the need to call me to tell me a bunch of bold face lies , insulting both my intelligence and integrity. I wouldn't recommend these scumbags to my worst enemy !!!!

I went inside and asked if they took walk ins lol...and Dr Bension was at the front desk and said yes! The Dr is very informative, listens, and is compassionate. I am so glad I decided to pull in! My cat had several teeth pulled. My 12 yr old has had several other issues and Dr Bension has been there. My weimaraner had a siezure and I just had to pick up the phone. The vet assistants are just as compassionate!

My golden retriever Gunner had been in pain for a few days and we thought he hurt his leg jumping on the bed. I called Dr B and was able to speak to him personally. He told me if I thought it was an emergency he would meet me at his clinic. We opted for today but he let my husband meet him with gunner when they opened the doors. No waiting for an appointment. It turns out he dislocated his knee. And he really understood that he was in so much pain. He did the blood work to make sure he was capable of having pain meds. We are so grateful and feel so blessed that our daughter found salt river clinic. We live in Louisville, and it is worth every minute of the 35 minute drive to receive the excellent care they provide. And they do care. So much. The office staff is amazing. I wish I knew how to post the pictures I've sent my daughter of him sleeping so peacefully. Thank you Dr B and staff!!!! Doug and Lisa Ford

I will not take my pet back there. They changed prices on me when I got there from what I had been quoted. They supposedly examined my dog in another room without me being present, and then the dr asked me to lift his gums so he could look at his teeth. I had to lift my dogs gums for him, and he's the dr. Then my poor dog had diarrhea for 3 days after that. Not sure how he was treated when I didn't get to see him examined.

Fluffy's story is unique in that she spent her first 14 years with an elderly lady who doted over her and spoiled her. Then the lady died. Suddenly, no one wanted her, so she was scheduled to be euthanized in November of 2015. I found her at an adoption site, looking worn out, scared and hopeless. I adopted her that same day.
After two years of being spoiled by her "new" mom, she developed "Old Dog Vestibular Syndrome," diagnosed in short order by Dr. Benson. His knowledge of my little dog's problem was spot on, and he told me exactly what to expect as she recovered. I went into the whole thing thinking that my dog had reached her end! Dr. Benson explained that was not so, and after he treated her for two days in the clinic, she came back to me feeling much better.
As time went by, she recovered exactly the way he said she would. Dr. Benson came highly recommended by one of my clients, and now I know why. I would drive to Taylorsville anytime to see this excellent vet. You should too.

Can I give him 6 stars?! We decided to test whether or not the acupuncture was working... we went once a week for two months. A that point our cat, Maverick, was doing great! We thought that maybe that meant that he was better, not just from the acupuncture and pain meds, but from healing. I truly believe in acupuncture now. We stopped for ~1.5 weeks and he has regressed :( Basically back to screaming in pain when he tries to walk. Can't wait to get back on schedule with the Doc.

Due to Dr Bension and all the wonderful staff at Salt River Vet, this is the ONLY place we have trusted to take our fur babies for over 10 years. All the staff are awesome, are always friendly and are very patient with my many questions. My current dog Sadie has had some health issues and Dr Bension has gone above and beyond to help her get proper food/meds for her food allergies and stomach issues. Sadie LOVES going to the vet, which causes so much less stress and worry for us. It is also great that they do boarding-we can go on vacation with no worries and know she is taken care of. Even when friends offer to keep Sadie if we are out of town we still prefer to take her their for boarding because we trust them 100%. I highly recommend Salt River Vet!

In response to Mr. Adkins recent comment: Mr. Adkins is not a client of Salt RiverVeterinary Clinic. He did call and discuss that his pet had been diagnosed at another Veterinary hospital with a specific lameness. Salt River was very clear in explaining to Mr. Adkins that Salt River would have to do an examination of their own and determine a diagnosis before any surgery could or would be scheduled. Mr. Adkins to date has never visited Salt River Veterinary Clinic and has never had his pet examined here.

My dog Jadis who has a torn ACL/MCL .I HAD already talked to dr. Benson about surgery, told him i needed to get the money together. So i called the humane society to see if i could get assistance, and they abliged and wete willing to help with $250 of the cost. Then i went to the bank and borrowed the rest. I then called Dr Benson and told him i had the money including the help from the humane society. He said we could do it on the following Tuesday and he would go ahead and order the hardware but had to get confirmation from the hamane society about the help. So i then called that lady and had her call them and she called me and said everything would be fine. Then the girl from dr bensons office called me ,telling me the hardware was on back order and quoting their pollices and that they needed full payment up front. So i offered to pay the full amount and let them reimburse me after they recieved the check. So i then had the lady from the HS to call them to ensure them of how it would all work, and she did. I then recieve a call from that same girl from Salt River Animal Clinic...saying the hardware was on permanent back order and that Dr. Benson had family matters pop up he had to attend to...come on REALLY. So even after i offered to pay the full amount and let them reimburse me ( no honor ) they felt the need to call me to tell me a bunch of bold face lies , insulting both my intelligence and integrity. I wouldn't recommend these scumbags to my worst enemy !!!!

Recently moved to the area I have 3 dogs And cat. Driving thru Taylorsville saw Salt River Vet Clinic. I had my 12 yr old dog with me, she was having ear problems. I went inside and asked if they took walk ins lol...and Dr Bension was at the front desk and said yes! The Dr is very informative, listens, and is compassionate. I am so glad I decided to pull in! My cat had several teeth pulled. My 12 yr old has had several other issues and Dr Bension has been there. My weimaraner had a siezure and I just had to pick up the phone. The vet assistants are just as compassionate!

He will honestly give me his recommendation for the benefit of my pet and then in no way puts a guilt trip on me if I cannot afford the recommended treatment. Instead he gives me less expensive options and again - no guilt trip. Hands down: first class veterinarian.

My golden retriever Gunner had been in pain for a few days and we thought he hurt his leg jumping on the bed. I called Dr B and was able to speak to him personally. He told me if I thought it was an emergency he would meet me at his clinic. We opted for today but he let my husband meet him with gunner when they opened the doors. No waiting for an appointment. It turns out he dislocated his knee. And he really understood that he was in so much pain. He did the blood work to make sure he was capable of having pain meds. We are so grateful and feel so blessed that our daughter found salt river clinic. We live in Louisville, and it is worth every minute of the 35 minute drive to receive the excellent care they provide. And they do care. So much. The office staff is amazing. I wish I knew how to post the pictures I've sent my daughter of him sleeping so peacefully. Thank you Dr B and staff!!!! Doug and Lisa Ford

I will not take my pet back there. They changed prices on me when I got there from what I had been quoted. They supposedly examined my dog in another room without me being present, and then the dr asked me to lift his gums so he could look at his teeth. I had to lift my dogs gums for him, and he's the dr. Then my poor dog had diarrhea for 3 days after that. Not sure how he was treated when I didn't get to see him examined.
