Bocage Animal Hospital

Baton Rouge, Louisiana
General Info
Bocage Animal Hospital in Baton Rouge continues to be an integral part of the community and the lives of pet owners. Bocage Animal Hospital in Baton Rouge provides veterinary services focusing on the pets’ tolerance levels instead of purely medical needs. Many families, along with their companion animals, receive care and support throughout Louisiana. For a cat to endure the close look in the eyes, which is usually a prerequisite to any examination, it has to look beyond the direct eye contact. Canine subjects might additionally require gradual transitioning between experimental stages and permission to examine materials through sniffing, which would likely take extra time. The approach is species-specific and prevents overstimulation by taking into consideration the animal’s body language while respecting tolerance boundaries. The method identifies owners as full partners in the stages of its implementation. The knowledge of a pet’s domestic behaviors and its preferences such as sleeping after a storm or remaining indifferent to different surfaces, is the clinical data. Bocage Animal Hospital offers medical care in the areas of preventive planning, diagnostics, internal medicine, nutrition advisement and senior wellness for multiple species. The timing of each procedure is aligned with the animal’s ability to stay calm and focused. Certain pets undergo the steps on different days and in different cases to diagnose what they are suffering from while implementing the anxiety reduction plan. Exotic animals need to be managed appropriately to prevent distress (physiological or psychological) that might lead to illnesses. Families are also advised on how to monitor baby’s pain expression and determine when the infant is overstimulated by sound or activity. They are also guided on when to resume normal interactions with the baby. Each treatment plan has a unique rhythm that structures the interactions between the patient and doctor, when it is time to wait, and when follow-ups are necessary. Bocage Animal Hospital provides veterinary care to Baton Rouge pets and their families by listening to what the animal’s body is trying to communicate and respecting each animal’s unique clock. Popular services include prescription medication, surgery, laboratory, and boarding. The facility is committed to ensuring that animals receive personal and professional care. Whether it is executing routine wellness plans or solving intricate issues, the team allows pet owners to rest assured about their pets’ health thanks to awareness and understanding. The team seeks to ensure that pets within the Baton Rouge area and the entire United States can access excellent services.

Completely unprofessional management. I have never before in my life gone to a vet where management was this unprofessional and rude. I brought my cat here because her paw had doubled in size, changed color, and was very raw and uncomfortable for her. $55 exam. Okay. Fine. What does the doctor say? “Ohhhh that’s so weird. Ohhhhh I have no idea what it could be.” I don’t pay $55 to be told the vet has no clue what’s going on. I pay $55 to be told what’s wrong with my pet. If you’re a doctor, how do you have no idea—not even a GUESS what’s wrong? Fine. Okay. I’m nice, I leave, and I call the next day. I ask for the manager just to ask like what’s the deal, what’s going on, I’m a little concerned that the doctor couldn’t give any sort of diagnosis. I felt it was a little unprofessional that all he could basically say is “oh, well, do the treatment you’re doing that I’ve never heard of or would have guessed to prescribe” and “come back if that doesn’t work.” That is literally, word for word, what he said. And what does the manager say? Oh, he’d never say that! Oh, what do you want? For him to give you meds? We can’t do that! (Never asked for that) Oh, what do you want? For him to say something is wrong when it isn’t? Oh, I’m not a doctor so I can’t speak for what he says. Oh, you keep complaining (never have before?) Apparently me calling twice in the past to ask if I needed to come back in after my cat threw up or had anal gland issues the same night as a physical, as in, they missed the issue during the physical, is complaining? Me saying I’m a little frustrated that these things were not caught during multiple exams? After me shelling out so far nearly $200 per cat within just a few weeks? I’m not allowed to have concerns after I’ve literally spent all this money? Me complaining about an inconvenience I experienced is “too much”? Is this a joke? The one and ONLY time I ever try to speak to the manager and I’m told “oh you complain all the time” ?? WHEN?? The only thing she could even come up with was that I mentioned I was frustrated once in a phone call when they didn’t catch the issue with his anal glands in the exam. I am simply at a loss for words. Never, ever coming back here. Horrible management needs to work on customer service. I and my husband both run businesses ourselves, and this is NOT how you treat customers when they have an issue. Read Less

As a fellow dog owner, I read reviews often and value feedback of people's experiences so I wanted to share mine just as an FYI. Mind you, this was my experience and it may differ from others who have been there. After bringing her to bocage animal hospital twice I can guarantee we will never be returning. The first time, I picked her up and she was not acting like herself - very timid, somewhat nervous and noteably lethargic. She also had some unusual marks near her rear, but when I called to ask about it they said nothing happened. I passed it off as she just spent the weekend in a new place and hadn't yet adjusted. The next time I was going out of town, I decided to give it a second try. Dropped her off and the weekend went by without any word from them so I assumed it all went fine. When I picked her up, the first thing the woman who brought her to me said was, "oh she JUST slipped outside and hasn't been putting pressure on her back legs. If she's still hurting tomorrow, bring her in and we can give her an anti-inflammatory shot". Hmm...okay, accidents happen I suppose. But she was acting out of sorts again which made me concerned. I was about to walk out the door when I realized they didn't give me back the bag I had brought all her things in. So I asked about it, which lead to a few different answers. Finally, a gentleman said he would go to the back and get it. When he brought the bag, I looked inside to find that over half of her food I packed was still inside! So they were about to send me on my way without mentioning anything... I asked if she didn't eat because that's extremely out of character for her (my dog is a big foodie). He said "oh she wasn't really eating except for when we fed her our food we have here". Which made me a little upset because every dog owner knows if you're transitioning food, it's supposed to be gradual. Plus, no one had even called me to ask! When I got her home that night, her breathing was shallow and she didn't move from one spot the entire night (her lethargy may be due to an upset stomach from the food they fed her). I also discovered a large gash on her mouth and ulcers inside - neither of which were there when I dropped her off! It was all just very peculiar and no one could seem to give me clear answers. What really goes on inside this place I may never know but I can guarantee that was the last time we go there. Read Less
