I wasn’t very happy about the care I was getting with my current vet, so I did some research and decided to give this place a try. I made an appointment to take both my pups in today. Steffi was due for her yearly visit, so she got all of those fun shots/tests and a nail trim. Charleigh is good until October, so we just trimmed her nails. The office is small—one vet and a few vet techs. My experience there today was like NOTHING I’d ever gotten at our previous vet! Dr. Stringer is AMAZING! I got to go back to the exam room with my babies and he explained EVERYTHING to me! I learned more today than I have for the past year and a half at the other vet. He truly took the time to explain all my options for heart worm and flea/tick prevention (and which is best for the price) as well as topical vs. oral treatment. At the end of our visit he saved my name and number in his PERSONAL cell phone and called mine so I could save his number. He told me I can call any time if I have any questions or concerns. When I left the office it was 12:45 and they had closed at 12. I am so blown away and grateful for the knowledge and care we received from them! We have found our permanent vet for our babies. If anyone is looking for a vet in BR, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Stringer at River Oaks Animal Hospital! Read Less

My family has been using this vet since before I was born, and now my husband and I use him for our doggies. He has a lot of years of experience, and he's really good with the animals. I find him very thorough, but not alarmist either. He's not always trying to push some extra procedure on you to make money. When our last dog was facing the option of either having a couple of expensive surgeries or being put down, he didn't push us one way or the other, and was supportive of our decision that it was in her best interests to put her down. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who likes a sensible, down to earth veterinarian. Read Less

"dr. stringer", I won't even dignify him with proper capitalization, nearly cost me my dog's life. This bozo falsely diagnosed my dog's severe heart murmur/congestive heart failure as, get this, ALLERGIES!!! My poor baby was coughing and coughing and struggling to breathe the next day, and I wanted answers. I called the "vet", and he was out of town on vacation. How convenient. Also, and even better, unable to be reached by his staff. In my panic I went to get allergy medication from them and returned home, desperate to help my dog. 5 minutes after returning home I knew something was grievously wrong, and I decided to rush him to the vet at PetSmart, where he was immediately diagnosed with  a severe heart murmur and congestive heart failure. His lungs were so filled with fluid he could barely breathe. He was taken in the back and given life saving shots and medications. Because of "dr.stringers" inexcusable mistake in identifying this problem, my poor dog nearly died. We have NEVER returned to this sorry excuse for an animal hospital, and NEVER will. I will NEVER recommend them, and their office was always dirty and smelly, which before going elsewhere, I assumed was normal. The amazing staff at PetSmart were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, CHEAPER!, and all around better in every way. That is a real animal hospital. This place needs to shut down and "dr.idiot" should retire out of the country. Read Less

Dr. Stringer is fine if your animal is not sick. I almost lost my pet of 12 years to this idiot. When he was literally hours from death, we took him to banfield vet in petsmart and we were shocked to find out that he had a sever heart murmur and significant congestive heart failure. His lungs were so filled with fluid that he was suffocating. 3 days prior we took him to Dr. Idiot stringer, and when we told him of his coughing and breathing difficulties, he said he was fine and it may be alergies!!!! At banfield, one quick listen to his chest and he was immediately gravely diagnosed. Before this, but after his visit here, we reported back with worsening conditions, the Dr was out of town, supposedly notified, and we never heard back. On the day we brought him to pet smart, I went to stringers office and demanded medicine for my sick dog... An hour later, he is at banfield. Dr. Idiot has never once followed up with us on his condition. He is a fat, greasy, expensive washed up vet who needs to live out his retirement in Syria. Preferably, homs. My dog almost died due to this idiots lack of attention, lack of caring, and obvious lack of decent vet knowledge!! I highly highly do NOT recommend!! His office is small and it stinks too. He is more expensive, just go to banfield. They actually care, and frequently call to check on your pets status. This ahole can rot in hell. Read Less
