I've been with Maher Animal Hospital for 15 years. They are compassionate and treat me like family. I trust them completely with my fur babies. Dr. Rusty performed an extremely rare surgery after my Chihuahua had severe complications from giving birth to 6 pups. Three vets had never seen this kind of birthing trauma. I decided to trust Dr. Rusty and not go to a specialist for her surgery. He did a perfect job on my baby girl! Also, his daughter Dr. Katie has been a tremendous help and patient with all of our fur babies who have been sick for months. She never gives up, just like her dad! The whole staff, all of these years, have been so kind and caring. Thank you guys very much!

My chihuahua had what we thought was an upset stomach. Little did I know that she was critically ill. Dr. Katie has masterful diagnostic skills and went into action. Blood work indicated gall bladder and liver problems. Dr. Rusty worked on her...started Iv’s and administered intravenous meds to stop her symptoms & heal her infection. After 3 days in the hospital, she is back home and doing great. The Maher’s treat every dog as their own...stellar treatment.

I have been taking my dogs to Maher Animal Hospital since I moved to the north shore in 2004. We just love Dr Rusty and Dr Katie. They have been there when we've been blessed with a new addition and when we've had to say goodbye, twice. Their love and compassion is exceptional. Their personal touch is beyond professional. Their staff is so warm and compassionate. They treat our babies like their own.

I live in New Orleans, but find myself making the trip to the Northshore for my two wiener dogs, Oscar Mayer and Vienna Sausage, because Dr. Rusty and Katie Maher are great, honest vets. I would suggest in the case of emergencies to have a local vet available, but my dogs get all their shots, check-ups and boarding from the Maher Animal Clinic. Both my dogs have had some serious issues when they were puppies, and the Maher's were available for questions over the phone or an unscheduled visit. While many vets will rack up a bill with "just in case" prescriptions, ointments or procedures, the Maher's are upfront with their diagnosis and the necessary measures. I also can't afford to put my dogs in a 5 star hotel with a camera that has a live feed to a website. I have boarded both of my wieners for quick weekend get-aways as well as a two-week vacation, without draining my bank account, and I always hear good things about the pups once I get back. Some words of puppy mom wisdom. If you do use the Maher's, and live on the South shore, take your pups for a short walk or jaunt in the park down the street after boarding or a vet visit so that if they need to "do their business" or tire out before the drive across the Causeway, you can knock that out. I may have had a pre-Causeway puppy experience from Hell two years ago, and would not wish that upon my worst enemy. ;)

I've been with Maher Animal Hospital for 15 years. They are compassionate and treat me like family. I trust them completely with my fur babies. Dr. Rusty performed an extremely rare surgery after my Chihuahua had severe complications from giving birth to 6 pups. Three vets had never seen this kind of birthing trauma. My chihuahua had what we thought was an upset stomach. Little did I know that she was critically ill. Dr. Katie has masterful diagnostic skills and went into action.
