Very disappointed with how my dog was treated at his last visit. My dog has been a patient since he was 4 weeks old and has never had an issue at this office nor has he ever been unable to control. However, a friend of mine brought him in for his annual vaccinations and she as well as my dog were treated poorly by the staff. The front desk for one was rude and not cooperative when she asked if she could be seen sooner but yet another patient walked in that did NOT have an appointment and was taken back immediately. Might I mention that there was no one in the waiting room as well. When we made the appointment and asked to see Dr. Moreau we were told that he wasn't in so we would have to see the other doctor. Which was not true because he WAS there. Once my dog was taken to the back the tech which was supposed to hold him on the table didn't so he fell off a total of not one but THREE times. By this time the poor thing was scared and a nervous wreck so he messed on the table at which point they proceeded to sit him down in his own mess and give him his vaccinations!!!! So at this point you would THINK that because they sat him in his own mess they would clean him up?? No they didn't and instead gave my friend some wet wipes to clean him up herself. The doctor that was in the room giggled and said that she would have to give him a bath when she got home. I don't know what was so amusing about that situation for her to giggle. I can't tell you how frustrated and upset I am that my poor dog was treated this way. He is a sweet and lovable dog and did not deserve to be treated like this. Had I been there I can ASSURE you that this would not have happened because I would've walked out. And I can also ASSURE you that we will never be going back to this clinic. To the staff: If you are not happy with the job that you have, you should find another one. We pay for a service and expect to be treated with care and respect!!!

It was not a sick dog visit, but a bath for my yellow lab. I asked it they could hurry and get her out quick, and they did. See was in at 8:00 am. Out by 10:00 am, and she still smell good. The fee for a large dog, is $32.00, but well worth it. She will be going back every two weeks. This was our first visit, but it will not be the last.

We're owners of a large Doberman rescue crew and have been trusting Destrehan Animal with our veterinary needs long before this current crew was adopted. It's a smaller office than some in our New Orleans area, but with that smaller structure comes an intimate family like unit that can't be beat. Emergencies during office hours are handled right away and follow up calls given. Because we rescue seniors their time inevitably runs out with us and we are always treated with respect and dignity by both doctors and staff at this office during those difficult moments. Honestly, we've even seen some vet techs tear up with us during certain situations. A level of personal care you don't often experience that can provide much needed comfort. Highly recommend giving them a try if you are new to the area or looking for a change.

I spent a week calling every place near me and ended up finding this place and another on magazine that werent absolute crazy with prices, ended up going here to save the hassle of bringing my dog on magazine and finding parking and all; great service from them and ended up only spending half of what I was expecting, 120$ for all my dogs 1 and a half year old shots and check up! Will probably only be going here for now on.

I was going to take my cat off of my parents hands and move her into my apartment with me because I missed her. I needed her to be shaved so her shedding wouldn't be so bad (she's had this done several times). My cat went in to be shaved, which requires sedation. She was overly administered which caused vomiting. She was given further medication to ease this problem they caused, then they sent her home. For days she acted "drunk" as if still under sedation and was not being h...er loving self. She stayed in a bedroom and slept-not curled up in a ball as cats usually do, but seeming to have collapsed and passed out. Just 3 short days after returning from Destrehan Animal Hospital, she was found hanging out outside all day, which is highly unusual for her. She will usually only go out to use the bathroom or explore for a short while. When she didn't return inside, my mom found her laying in our yard, dead. She was considered "elderly" at 14 years of age, however she was full of life and the sweetest cat I've ever known. I know she had a few more years in her. It broke my heart to know that those we pay to take care of her brought on her early death. If only I hadn't sent her to get a haircut, she may still be with me and my family. The card they sent us was a nice gesture, but we'd much rather have our sweet Tellie. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else's family or pet. See more

Love this Vet and the staff! Everyone is always very nice and they do not make you feel rushed. I agree with Billie Jo though, this place is entirely too small and crowded. I have one dog that when he sees other animals he goes into "Dog park mode". That can scare pet parents because he is crazy! The parking lot is also a huge problem! You have to wiggle into tiny spots. I think it may be time to move up to a bigger building or expand if possible.

Jacob had seizures and has been on phenobarbital for a few years now, then we found out he is diabetic so he's on 2 shots s day and a special can food and thanks to such great Doctors, my baby is doing great. Dr Jack and his team have been our vet for as long as I can remember. The are courteous, knowledgeable & always willing to help. When my husband brings our dogs for their shots he takes all 3 at once (2 blk labs & a terrier). But it's no problem!! I would recommend them to anyone needing a vet.

This is just a first review. My husband recently surprised me with a beautiful puppy. It was time for her 10 week shots and we asked around for who was the best local Vet. Most people recommended Dr. Moreau. So today was our first visit. First thoughts, the parking lot was very small. We had to wait for someone to leave so we could park. That was some fancy driving/wiggling to make that parking happen. Then we walked inside and the waiting room was quite small and full. So we check in and finally found somewhere to sit. We showed up about 10 minutes before her appt. and still had to wait a while to be seen. It looks to me as though they possibly over book.So we finally get called to the back. First impression of the dr is very nice, well dressed professional. He took his time explaining important things we should know being first time puppy owners. He took his time and was very gentle with our baby girl. He gave us a chance to ask any questions we had. Overall we enjoyed the doctor but not sure if we want to deal with a scared puppy in an over crowded waiting area. We will try again before we make a final decision.

Love this place! I wish I found this place sooner! The doctors were really nice and they were able to treat my dog effectively and efficiently and I really appreciate that since I'm a student. They did not charge an arm and a leg for all the procedures done on my dog and she was back to normal in a jiffy.

I love Dr. Moreau. He is the most genuinely caring vet, and probably all around decent man I have ever met.. He is patient and understanding and truly loves animals. He worked with me when one of my rescued cats needed surgery, and I was unable to afford it. There are not many people in his profession, or in the medical field period, who would be so generous and kind. I owe Dr. Moreau a great debt of gratitude and I will always bring my pets back to him. Highly competent, trustworthy and worth the trip from anywhere in the New Orleans area.

Very disappointed with how my dog was treated at his last visit. My dog has been a patient since he was 4 weeks old and has never had an issue at this office nor has he ever been unable to control. However, a friend of mine brought him in for his annual vaccinations and she as well as my dog were treated poorly by the staff. It was not a sick dog visit, but a bath for my yellow lab. I asked it they could hurry and get her out quick, and they did. See was in at 8:00 am. Out by 10:00 am, and she still smell good. Dr Jack and his team have been our vet for as long as I can remember. The are courteous, knowledgeable & always willing to help. When my husband brings our dogs for their shots he takes all 3 at once (2 blk labs & a terrier). But it's no problem!! I would recommend them to anyone needing a vet.

Good for minor issues only, yearly shots. Wish I would have brought my dog for a second opinion at another vet, it could have saved his life. Totally misdiagnosed.

This is just a first review. My husband recently surprised me with a beautiful puppy. It was time for her 10 week shots and we asked around for who was the best local Vet. Most people recommended Dr. Moreau. So today was our first visit. First thoughts, the parking lot was very small. We had to wait for someone to leave so we could park. That was some fancy driving/wiggling to make that parking happen. Then we walked inside and the waiting room was quite small and full. So we check in and finally found somewhere to sit. We showed up about 10 minutes before her appt. and still had to wait a while to be seen. It looks to me as though they possibly over book.So we finally get called to the back. First impression of the dr is very nice, well dressed professional. He took his time explaining important things we should know being first time puppy owners. He took his time and was very gentle with our baby girl. He gave us a chance to ask any questions we had. Overall we enjoyed the doctor but not sure if we want to deal with a scared puppy in an over crowded waiting area. We will try again before we make a final decision.

Love this place! I wish I found this place sooner! The doctors were really nice and they were able to treat my dog effectively and efficiently and I really appreciate that since I'm a student. They did not charge an arm and a leg for all the procedures done on my dog and she was back to normal in a jiffy.

I love Dr. Moreau. He is the most genuinely caring vet, and probably all around decent man I have ever met.. He is patient and understanding and truly loves animals. He worked with me when one of my rescued cats needed surgery, and I was unable to afford it. There are not many people in his profession, or in the medical field period, who would be so generous and kind. I owe Dr. Moreau a great debt of gratitude and I will always bring my pets back to him. Highly competent, trustworthy and worth the trip from anywhere in the New Orleans area.

NEEDLESS TO SAY SHE FELL OUT. THANK GOD SHE IS OKAY. I AM RETURNING TO DESTRAHAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. WITH BOTH OF MY DOGS.
